GREAT Experience for Locals & Our Guests!
Fri, Nov 2, 07   12:00 PM jjpaige Female 30-39 Local Family Without Children
I live in Manhattan, but my focus is work. I very seldom take time to explore and indulge in all the fantastic things the city has to offer (A crime! I know!) I welcomed the opportunity to play tourist when my aunt came for a visit. The Central Village/SoHo Food and Culture Tour was absolutely the highlight of the weekend. Our guide was enthusiastic and entertaining. My guest and I both learned a thing or two (or 20) about NY history, architecture, culture, and of course, it's fabulous cuisine. I have a brand new list of favorite places to eat, and several places I'm looking forward to enjoying in greater depth in the future. The tastings were nicely paced, and we finished the tour satiated and inspired.

nice tour to pass 3 hours, but little draggy

I enjoyed the tour but it really dragged out at times. There were 8 food places, half of them very quick in succession for the last 15 minutes. That meant that for 2.5 hours, only 4 foods were tasted. That's a lot of talking to listen to . This will probably be my last tour. I've done the chelsea market and the greenich village tour also. The greenich village tour is by far the best.

Great Intro to Soho - food and history

This was a very enjoyable tour - nice pace - great food and an extremely friendly and knowlegeable guide. A true native of the village, Diane's love for the neighborhoods and the people is quite apparent and infectious. I would (and already have) reccommend this tour to family & friends.

Two of us have taken your Greenwich Village and Chelsea Market tours. Because we raved about them I was able to convince 2 others who live in NJ to meet us for this one. We all agreed the guide was very good and we enjoyed all the information. The two from NJ went to lunch afterwards as they were hungry. We didn't do that but did head for the bakery to fill the empty spot. The place that the tour met and I can't remember the name now was wonderful. We were a bit early and he invited us to sit down and brought us water. We certainly would go there for a meal the next time we're in NYC. Too bad we didn't get to sample his fare as part of the tour. Sorry to be so late with this review but I never use my yahoo account and just found the e-mail. We hope by the time we come back to NYC next year you have another tour lined up maybe in a different part of the city. We aren't interested in sushi.

This was absolutely the highlight of our first visit to New York. Over for a week, we booked the tour online before we travelled. Our group was led by Diana who displayed a real insight and knowledge of Village history and culture. The food tastings were fabulous, plentiful and varied. Seeing where Bob Dylan had played and lived was the icing on the cake for me. The whole atmosphere of the village s something `i will definitely revisit having had such a friendly and helpful introduction. A model of its kind. Thank you, Diana./

I'm sorry I can't remember the lady's name - friendly, enthusiastic, wearing a baseball cap. The tour exceeded my expectations - the history and info given was really interesting, the food was very nice and Greenwich Village was wonderful in the sunshine. Thank you.

We enjoyed this activity. It was a very informative walk with a great deal of information about the area, its history, architecture, activities - past and present along with visits to many of the area restaurants and sampling the foods (that were all delicious). The Tour leader was very knowledgeable, personable and helpful. Thank you. I will be happy to recommend this tour and your organization to visitors in the area.

We LOVED it!!!!!

Our guide Diane met the nine of us at Cafe Del Mare, and led us on a very interesting and VERY tasty tour of the Village and SoHo. From the first stop at the India Bread Company to our last taste of Yogurt the day was a big hit. The history of the area was interspersed with stories of restaurants, cooks and various foods. It was most enjoyable. It allowed me to try foods I may never have and to make note of restaurants I wish to come back to. Diane made it enjoyable and oh so interesting. All nine of us agreed that this is the way to get to know the area. I have been visiting NYC for over 30 years, but this tour has opened up a new part of the City to me. Your group is now bookmarked and we will be reserving for future food tours when we get to visit again. Thanks so much for making a great weekend get together with a group of friends all the more special.

Particularly liked Raheem. He was informative and made everything come alive for us - the city, the foods, the area. We are telling all our friends! However, the foods gave us indigestion. Were a little on the spicy side for our 58 and 68 year old taste buds. But that said, we'd do it again in a heartbeat -- and probably will when we come back to NY. Raheem said you may take this international and if you do, sign us up to travel with you to wherever you go...
