activity photo

Sample tasty treats from ethnic, old-school eateries in two distinct areas - one colorful and exciting, the other surprisingly quaint.

My 2 granddaughters enjoyed our food tour , however personally I enjoyed the original Greenwich Village and theChelsea market tour more. This tour was more ethnic choices and only one sweet tart. I did take the two girls to the Chelsea market for an afternoon.

One of the best activities to do when visiting NYC

This was my second Foods of NY Tour. The first one, taken in 2011, was the original Greenwich Village tour and it was spectacular! Because of that very positive experience, this activity was the first thing I scheduled and then I worked everything else in around the tour. I liked the original tour a bit better personally just because the food variety was a little more interesting. But both guides were extremely informative and I learned a lot about the history of the area in addition to tasting fantastic food. In both cases, we tried restaurants that I want to go back to on future NYC visits. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Dianna was our enthusiastic tour guide full of insightful information, a couple of 'star' spottings and a pleasure! We had just enough to eat, a great historical overview which kept our interest and the time flew. We're planning on a Chinatown tour in the fall.

This was a fun tour for my group of friends! There were many delicious and interesting stops along the way. We enjoyed stopping for 25 minutes in a cool downstairs room at Cuba and getting drinks to go with our empanadas. We definitely had enough food to fill us up, and ended with yummy dessert. Tour guide Susan was knowledgeable and fun. Tour was organized very well with not much waiting around. All restaurants had food ready for us to enjoy!

Thoroughly enjoyed this food tour. The guide was quite knowledgeable, pleasant and good at the role. We were a group of 7 women 40's to 70's...all of us had a blast. We are going to look into another tour. This is a great way to learn about the city while enjoying lovely foods.

Had a wonderful time checking out local businesses, tasting food and learning some fun cultural facts about the area! I highly recommend it to anyone even if you have lived in NYC your whole life!

It was the way to do a food tour! Loved that we received a great history lesson paired with the venues, and the area that we toured in. Gave us a great sense of the neighbourhood and the people who live there. And, the food was fabulous! Good mix of different foods and venues. We even came back to go to John's pizza that evening. HIghly recommended.

The tour guide was good and very informative. We learned a lot about the history of the area (soho/greenwich). The food was excellent and I sampled types I had not had before. Only one comment - we were told we didn't have time to shop and we figured that meant in stores we passed on our tour. However, we visited a coffee shop, did not receive a sample (why not?) and in that store while people were looking around, I bought some coffee beans - then was reminded we weren't supposed to shop. Not good public relations. If I were sampling in a restaurant and then decided to buy something to take home while everyone else was still eating, it makes no sense to have to go back to the restaurant (or store) in order to purchase something when I am right there (granted - if it was going to take 20 minutes to prepare I could understand that). Suggestion - don't take people to the coffee vendor if we're not going to receive a sample or be allowed to buy anything.

I truly enjoyed this tour. The food, conversation and tour guide were all wonderful. The tour was only slighted marred by a group of mid-20s girls who had no interest in the food or the neighbourhood. Most threw out their food because they don't eat strange things. Not quite sure what they were doing there.
