Susan was terrific!

Loved Susan as a guide. She was engaging, interesting, passionate and knowledgable! Didn't like the offered bites as much as past tours with this company but more a reflection of the restaurant efforts than the tour group, is my guess? The pace of the tour Is not hard on your feet and plenty of options to seek a restroom if needed. Susan was diplomatic and kind but firm when some of the guests tried to take advantage by including extra friends arriving halfway thru the tour. Thanks!

I've taken all the tours offered by Foods of New York and they have all been very entertaining, along with excellent food. I only hope that they continue to develop additional tours, possibly in other areas such as Brooklyn. The guides provide great commentary and history. Highly recommend!!

A sunny tour guide & amiable group on a cloudy day

My tour guide was Susan. She was enthusiastic without being over the top, and knowledgeable without being a know it all ( you know the type!). I wandered streets I had only crossed over in the past, and discovered enough stores and restaurants to guarantee a repeat visit. I enjoyed the mortadella & mozzarella sandwich at Caffe Dante, very much, as well as the Indian street food at Masala times. Empanadas and mojitos at Cuba, yum. The chocolate pear tart was a great ending. Susan took us into a couple of shops briefly that weren't on the official tour, so we would have some interesting stores to visit after the end of the tour. The shops we entered were all welcoming to us. I found a lot of places I'd wanted to return to. As far as the group members went, it was a friendly bunch, save for the couple who sat at my table as we waited for the tour to start. They were from another country and although they could speak English perfectly well, they ignored me as they spoke in their native language only, and they didn't try to get to know anyone else. Disappointing, as part of the fun of the tour is meeting other people who share an interest in NYC and food. I had a great time, and look forward to my next tour!

Our tour was packed full of neat factual info about both the foods and the neighborhoods. Our guide kept us moving quickly and eating expeditiously. He was tremendous, even in the rain shower !

Tour September 22

The leader of our group was a man - I am sorry i do not remember his name- we started at 12:00 at Morrie's (sp) and tasted/toured a variety of ethnic and local restuarants, while getting a running dialogue about the neighborhood and its history. It was great, it added to my trip and gave me insight into NYC which I would not have gotten by reading tour books. I recommended the tour to other friends who also took it.

The food tastings were all delicious, and guide (Susan) gave excellent context to the restaurants and food tasted. Covered the area well, and included a good history of the neighborhood. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience!

My tour guide was Susan and she was very educated on the culture of area as well as the food. This tour provided such a variety of foods. As a matter of fact on a later tour I took, I spoke with someone else who tried foods on the SoHo tour she thought she didn't like and loved it. I did the same. I have difficulty hearing with background noise (traffic) and she did a great job speaking to the entire group and making sure all could hear. I would recommend this tour to anyone, but you must keep in mind you will not do a great deal of walking and you won't do a SoHo, it's really more village and hardly any of SoHo. Great tour!
