A GREAT WAY TO LEARN ABOUT A SECTION OF NEW YORK CITY. I WOULDN'T HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT SEEING THIS PART OF THE CITY, BUT AFTER TAKING THIS TOUR I WILL RETURN TO EXPLORE FURTHER.
I'VE SCHEDULE ANOTHER TOUR FOR MY WIFE AND I IN THE NEAR FUTURE THROUGH THE MEATPACKING DISTRICT. |

We had a blast. I was a little hesitant on booking this tour/tasting, but extremely happy we did! Highly recommended even for the New York savy! |

Our guide 'Racmede' (sorry for spelling) was extreemly knowledgeable regarding the local restaurants and history of the area; very considerate for the group while concerned for the locals, particularly with safety of all. My wife and I would strongly recommend both him and the tour and hope in the future to have him as guide on the 'sushi' tour. Best regards, Mike & Nancy Moore |

Fun guide, very knowledgeable, former student of NYU, lives in the area, buys his own food from recommended places, it was great! |

This tour was exactly what we wanted. We had a chance to sample street food in the coolest part of town and the historical commentary on the area put everything into context. The food choices were brave and they didn't try to "dumb down" the experience for masses, which I really appreciated. I will never forget Frank at Joe's Dairy or the lovely mushroom pasta we were surprised with at that Italian grocery store I can't remember the name of.
Susan (our guide) was great. She was energetic and informative and best of all, she was a foodie!
Good job, guys! The tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to New York and we'll definitely be back for another tour with you when we come back. |

The food tastings where really good.
But our guide talked a bit too much so we was late on the route and had to rush some tastings and didn't get through the whole tour.
The heavy rain made some of the tour a very wet experiense. |

I have been on previous food tours and this one pales in comparison. There was more talking about food and neighborhood restaurants than eating. We sat in empty clubs and restaurants without even a crumb of food. Most of the food that was served on the tour was crammed into the last hour. I would suggest you save your money and create your own food tour. |

Thought it was weak on really exploring the food of the Central Village (only two stops in SoHo). The leader was charming and reasonably well informed, but for us who are not real big music enthusiasts there was much too much discussion of musicians and music venues, more on the literary and visual arts would have been somewhat more satisfying for us. We enjoyed the food samplings, but thought there was a bit too much advertising for those restaurants.
I would recommend this tour with reservations. It was strongly recommended to us by friends. |

The variety of tastes was excellent, and the order starting from appetizers to entree to desert was well-done. The guide's narrative about the Central Village was informative. I wish that when we were in the shops/restaurants where an owner or manager was present that the guide would let the owner/manager speak more. The guide gave a "commercial" for the establishment, which is OK, but I would have preferred to have heard directly from the owner/manager. This especially applies to Bellavitae. All in all it was a sucess and we will be back for more. |

This is an great tour for visitiors to NY who do not consider themselves familiar with the area. If you live in Manhattan, chances are you've probably seen or experienced a lot of what is on the tour.
The food is definitely worthwhile but some of the "marketing" for the restaurants and clubs was a bit much i.e. suggestions to make reservations for this evening etc (although I understand the need to do this).
I would recommend this to visitors. |
