Sample tasty treats from ethnic, old-school eateries in two distinct areas - one colorful and exciting, the other surprisingly quaint.

Bari was our guide and she did a fabulous job. Her voice was clear and all participants were able to hear her description of the businesses, buildings, and history of the area. The tour was very informative and the food tastings were excellent. A few weeks ago, my husband and I took the Greenwich Village tour with Bari. Again the food tastings were superb, and we have returned to some of the restaurants for lunch/dinner. In the future, we plan to reserve space on the other "Foods of New York" tours. This Central Village/Soho tour was excellent! If you are visiting New York, this is a tour that shouldn't be missed.

Unbelievably delicious food; wonderful guide

The tour began on time and the tour guide was so knowledgable about the history and character of the area and incredibly interesting. The insights provided by the guide, Diana, were worth the price even without the food! The food was sooo good, prepared well and served at appropriate temperatures. There was certainly enough to fill hungry bellies and it was well-spaced to avoid extreme hunger or feeling of fullness. The tour is not appropriate for youngsters who would likely become tired and fidgety. Children would create a distraction for other participants. The information offered may engage upper-level high school students. Walking could be an issue for some with back or ambulatory issues. Participants are on their feet for the overwhelming majority of time. Overall, the tour renewed my appreciation for the depth of character in the City of New York. It is a place like nowhere else in the US and I would definitely recommend it for those interested in gaining insight and understanding of this great city!

This tour provided an excellent neighborhood overview with information on history, famous personalities and restaurants. Printed information made it easy to keep follow where you were and for future reference. Walking pace was very comfortable. Food was excellent in variety and quality and restaurant staff that we interacted with, including bartender at the meeting place, were very friendly. Guide was knowledgeable and personable. Good tour for out of town visitors as well as locals.

Am a former NYCer and grew up in northeast. Live in Charleston SC now. Love these tours and only wish they existed back when I lived there. I would have found many more special places to go--plus history. Will do another tour each time I get a chance to go up, and always recommend it to others.

Raheem made this the best ever NYC Food Tour!
Fri, May 13, 11   12:00 PM Fayvola Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
This was our third NYC food tour and we probably enjoyed this one more than the others because of our enthusiastic foodie guide, Raheem (SP?). My husband and I lived overseas for 20 years and were delighted to find those special NYC only little pockets of European taste and culture on this tour. The food samples were all delicious; the anecdotes and history of the area were most interesting. We are encouraging our NYC friends to take the tour, or at the least send their out-of-town guests!

I enjoyed the interesting descriptions of the neighborhoods. The tour guide was well informed and treated the members of the group respectfully. It felt a bit rushed but we covered a lot ground and I wouldn't have cut anything out. The food was interesting, not too filling, and well spaced over the 3 hours. Toilets were available at appropriate intervals. Getting an adult beverage at one restaurant was a bit rushed.
