Good tour

Went on this tour while visiting NYC alone. Felt very comfortable. The guide was excellent providing lots of historical as well as current info about the area. The food was a little heavy on the bread/cheese components but all of it was good and plenty for lunch. Included pizza, mozzarella/tomato sandwich, Cuban tampenadas, some Indian? wraps (excellent), pear tart, and other items I don't remember. Fun, good experience. Third FONY tour I have taken and they have all been great! I did it the last day I was in town, but would be a good thing to do early in your visit so that you could go back to some of the restaurants they recommend during your visit. You get a listing and mao of them so that is very useful.

Our guide was not only well informed, but an enthusiastic booster of the neighborhood. The food tasting gave us a teaser & prompted our return to the neighbothood for another look around & a meal the folllowing day. I look forward to another of your walking & tasting tours.

I found the tour to be comprehensive, and Susan, our guide, was very knowledgeable and able to provide answers to questions on all aspects of the tour. It's hard to believe that so much information can be garnered within a relatively small area over a three-hour period.

Loved it. Lots of history of the area shared which made for a great experience. Guide was very personable and genuine. We loved all the food samplings and can't wait to come back and stay at the Attrium Hotel.

Another great tour by Foods of New York Tours

This is our third tour with Foods of NY. It was an interesting walk around the neighbourhood and we learnt a lot about its history. The guide was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. He talked a lot - possibly a tad too much! His tendency to personalise everything was often amusing but a more straightforward presentation would have been equally satisfactory. The food was very good - top marks go the the Cuban restaurant - the best empanadas I have ever eaten - crispy, fresh and tasty. The pear and chocolate tart was also extremely delicious. Seeing mozarella made by hand and visiting a traditional coffee merchant were both really interesting experiences. Despite my personal reservations about the frenetic manner of the guide I would definitely recommend the tour to friends. It's a great way to get to know a neighbourhood and a wonderfully entertaining way to spend three hours.

Guide was very entertaining but made no effort to get to know us ie. where we were from, what we like to do, learn a few names. Since we were a club it would have been easy to get the info and make it a more personal touch. Food was good. We were lucky to have good weather

All four in our party agreed that this food and culture tour was a fantastic opportunity to learn about a wide array of historical and architectural facts pertaining to this area while sampling an excellent variety of delicious ethnic gastronomic delights. The tour guide provided a perfect blend of education, practical tips, and humor based upon her personal experiences and academic background. I have already recommended this tour to friends and will continue to sing its praises in the future. We look forward to taking other tours with this company.

The food choices were delicious, and the portions at each establishment we more than ample and no lunch was needed afterward. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for a really fun way to spend a few hours in Manhattan!

We thoroughly enjoyed the leisurely pace of our tour which included tastings from 6 different restaurants. Our guide (Rasheed) gave us interesting historical information of the area, architecture, restaurants, shopping, music, and after hours scene. We had an array of tastings which were all delicious. The group size of 15 was just right. This was definitely a highlight of our trip. We will do it again when we return to NYC.
