a fun afternoon with friends

Good food in a variety of places, although it would have been nice to actually eat something in more of the places we visited. Our tour guide was nice and knowledgeable, but at some points I wanted the tour to be geared more towards locals than tourists.

Fun Times!

I have now participated in two different NY food tours. Both were a lot of fun!! I must say the food on the Central Village tour was excellent. Definitely made me want to go back to almost all the restaurants we stopped at. My only comment was about one restaurant that we didn't receive a tasting. It was a new one on the tour and they promoted the place wonderfully... I definitely want to eat there, but a tasting would have made it a bit better... would have made my decision to return just a bit more definite. Thanks for a wonderful day!

Raheem did a WONDERFUL job making our group feel what it was like to have lived decades past in this gem of an area. He really knew his stuff! Great food samplings, beautiful old buildings and businesses, some of which are more than 100 years old, historical facts about the area all combined for a first rate adventure. After our legs were walked off, our group of friends and another couple from the group, visiting from England, bellied up to the bar at the Caffe del Marre where Lenworth the bartender entertained us with special drink concoctions and lively banter. We all felt totally at home in this neighborhood! Our group lives on Long Island and are only now getting to spread our wings and explore this wonderful city! Foodsofny is the way to go! We haven't been disappointed in any tour yet! We already have plans to come back and eat at several of the restaurants and shop for some of the great food products we tasted!

Can't recommend this tour

The guide was excellent, both his knowledge and his enthusiasm. The tour walked around SoHo/Village to many spots where we learned the history of the neighborhood. This was a walking tour with some food tastings added. I expected it to be a food tour with walking involved. We stopped to hear the guide talk about restaurants, but didn't/couldn't go in. So what's the point of bringing everyone there? It seems promoting restaurants in SoHo/Village was the tour's objective. If the tour had brought the group to tasting after tasting after tasting that would have been great. It was what I expected. The guide could have discussed some (less) of the neighborhood history inbetween restaurants/cafe stops. Instead, the tour was only accented by tastings. It was primarily a walking tour. If I wanted to join a "walking" tour specifically, I would have. I expected far more tastings than what we had. I especially didn't appreciate being walked into restaurants where the group didn't have a taste of anything. The guide introduced and promoted many restaurants, but we didn't taste anything from the menu. My recommendation is not to bring a Food Tour group into restaurants if the group isn't going to taste anything. The guide spent half the time recommending that we return to eat at these restaurants while in New York. Unfortunately, this was a walking tour promoting neighborhood restaurants with tastes of food here and there. It wasn't what I expected.

Great afternoon, spoilt only by the biting cold. Rahim was an articulate and charismatic guide who displayed in depth knowledge on both the food and the areas we passed through.

EVEN THOUGH I AM A NEW YORKER, I ENJOYED THE DIVERSITY OF THE FOOD SAMPLING. THE HISTORY THAT WAS ALSO SHARED ABOUT EACH PLACE WAS GREAT. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DAY TOUR.

My friend and I visit the city several times a year, always seeing a show and shopping. This time we decided to do something different and we were wonderfully surprised at how much we enjoyed our walking tour of the Village and Soho. Our guide was extremely knowledgable and made the tour a lot of fun. We can't wait to do the other walking tours on our future visits to NYC.

Great food, fun facts

I'm 27 from Boston visiting a friend who's relatively new to NYC. We were looking for something different and fun to do during the day and stumbled upon this tour online. We had such a great time! It was an excellent mix of ethnically diverse foods and fun historical facts about the streets you're walking along. We saw where Bob Dylan lived, where Jimmy Hendrix was discovered, where Jack Kerouac wrote, and what may be considered one of the birthplaces of Hip Hop. We sampled Indian food, fresh mozzarella, and food spoken of in the Bible. Our tour guide was very friendly and very knowledgable... while the group ranged vastly in age, our guide was a total crowd pleaser. It wasn't stuffy or pretentious or boring, more like going for a walk with a friend who'd lived in the neighborhood for years (and I believe he had). I would definately not reccomend going on a day that's below 30degrees, we froze, but I will absolutely book another tour with this company in the spring!
