Looking for something different to do in NYC? This is it! Our group had so much fun strolling the neighborhood, learning a bit of local history while sampling fantastic food in amazing restaurants! Our tour guide Susan was friendly, fun and entertaining too!

The tour of the Village and SOHO was awesome! The food selection was varied and oh so delicious! Our tour guide, Raheem was so knowledgeable of the area, he really made the tour interesting with all of the tidbits of info. He was so into his work and life as a New Yorker, his enthusiasm was contagious! I cannot wait to return to NYC and book my next Foods of NY tour- it was so much more than I expected!

Tour was fun, but could use a little improvement

I have done walking tours before and this particular tour left me a little disappointed. While we all still enjoyed ourselves, the area we explored was very small. The information was not as interesting as other tours, for example, the Greenwich Village tour, but that may be because of the area we chose. The other downfall was the food that was tasted. We started out with a great deli sandwich, immediately followed by a wonderful Indian wrap at Masala. The next stop involved pasta (mediocre) and bread, the next stop empanadas, so WAY TOO MANY CARBS. Bread, bread, bread, starch. We did have a soup toward the end but everyone was so full that it was hard to enjoy. A variety of food types would have been better. We circled around maybe 3 blocks, so not much area was covered. We also did "sit-downs" in two restaurants. The Cuban place was the better of the two, and only one sit-down was necessary...kind of seemed like a time filler. Tour guide was very pleasant.

My tour guide was Susan. She was enthusiastic without being over the top, and knowledgeable without being a know it all ( you know the type!). I wandered streets I had only crossed over in the past, and discovered enough stores and restaurants to guarantee a repeat visit. I enjoyed the mortadella & mozzarella sandwich at Caffe Dante, very much, as well as the Indian street food at Masala times. Empanadas and mojitos at Cuba, yum. The chocolate pear tart was a great ending. Susan took us into a couple of shops briefly that weren't on the official tour, so we would have some interesting stores to visit after the end of the tour. The shops we entered were all welcoming to us. I found a lot of places I'd wanted to return to. As far as the group members went, it was a friendly bunch, save for the couple who sat at my table as we waited for the tour to start. They were from another country and although they could speak English perfectly well, they ignored me as they spoke in their native language only, and they didn't try to get to know anyone else. Disappointing, as part of the fun of the tour is meeting other people who share an interest in NYC and food. I had a great time, and look forward to my next tour!

The tour was so much fun. I have been to the Village many times but saw it from a different perspective while on the tour. The tour guide was knowledgable and fun and the food was great! When I read the instructions that said you didnt need to have lunch after the tour, I really didnt think that was going to be true. it certainly was true. There was alot of different types of food that I normally would not have tried and I loved it all! My favorite stop was probably the cuban restaurant and the bakery.

We received the walking tour as a gift for my birthday. I was anxious about committing three hours to an unplanned tour when we only had four days in New York. Within ten minutes I felt ridiculously silly for having such a petty angst. This is the best way to see a city. In the hands of a local self confessed foodie. Easily the best thing we did in New York. Thank you Rahim.
