Finally got to see NYC at my pace!

New York City is always going at a fast pace. Taxis zip you from one place to another, subways tear underground without seeing a thing, views from crowded buses are limited, at best. Even the double decker tour buses race around on a schedule, not giving you a chance to just stop and admire the architecture and the buildings. And when you get off the merry-go-round to walk around a neighbourhood, you don't know the history of the place or the story of the people. For one small neighbourhood, for one short afternoon, Food Of New York Tours changed that. Our well informed and experienced guide took us around a small part of Greenwich Village, explaining the history of the place, showing us the architecture, reliving the history of the people that lived there. It was how I wanted to see New York: on foot, learning how and when things were built, how the people live here. Oh. And there was food too! Lots of it, all from Mom-and-Pop restaurants. Enough food to last all day. And it was good food! And we visited stores that sold coffee right out canvas bags (the smell was amazing) and tea shops. But at the end of it all, the food is not the point. It's a reason to walk around New York, to learn about the neighbourhood and enjoy its history. Rainer and Alyssa

A side of New York never seen...

... by just about anyone visiting the city. Taking these tours (we went on another one on a previous visit) enables you to get a feel for the other side of the city away from the usual Times Square, Empire State Building attractions. Highly recommended but remember these are walking tours!!

Something for everyone and not to be missed

We've made foodie tours a standard activity in all cities where they are a available. Nothing beats New York, though, and this is our second one here. Great and knowledgeable guide (diana) with enthusiastic and personable personality. Pizza, pasta, Indian, high-end Mexican and a purple haze egg cream( plus more I don't have time to mention) was well spaced. But a foodie tour is so much more: A great overview of Greenwich village with just enough history and fun facts to make it interestingl

Our group enjoyed the tour very much. It was a great way to wander a small section of NYC and learn a little history and enjoy some great food. We especially enjoyed visiting the spice store, the coffee store and the little Italian pasta store.
