Sample tasty treats from ethnic, old-school eateries in two distinct areas - one colorful and exciting, the other surprisingly quaint.

The best way to explore NYC neighborhoods!

We three old friends from elementary school days came for our second annual long weekend in NYC. Last year we took the Chelsea Market tour and loved it. Can't remember our tour guide's name but she was amazing - her humor and in depth knowledge of the history of the area kept us entertained the whole time. This year we chose the Central Greenwich Village tour and our tour guide was Raheem. He was so much fun and a really nice guy. He also had a very comprehensive knowledge about the area - some really obscure but very interesting facts that you'd never get out of a guide book. Thanks, Raheem! The food was delicious. We were completely full by the second last stop (didn't stop us from sampling it though) and the variety and quality of the tastings were just right. Honestly, it's by far the best way to tour a neighborhood. We'll be back for sure!

Our tour guide was Rahim and we just loved him! He was very informative about the area, history, etc. He knows his restaurants and made the three hours just fly by! We brought some friends with us and they can't wait to do it again. I highly recommend to everyone as it helps you get familiar with the area and what restaurants you would like to try when you go back. I wouldn't have tried some of the restaurants if I hadn't been on the food tour! Five stars to this tour!!!

Interesting blend of history of the area and great food tastings of the different ethic groups who are living here. Our guide was knowlegeable, friendly and made accomodations for the different walking speeds of the group. A great way to be introduced to a neighborhood in NYC!

Diana, the tour guide, is a NYC resource on a variety if subjects far exceeding just the tour we were on. The food is great and divergent in taste. The area of Greenwich Village is very interesting and we learned a lot about famous folks that started out there. People in the neighborhood , beknownst to the tour guide participated as well. A unique well-rounded experience not to be missed. We will be doing this again.

Don;t take this tour.

Tour guide spent a great deal of time discussing her experiences in Greenwich village as a young girl. I did not pay $156 to hear that. I wanted to see important places, find out who lived(s) where, what goes on or went on in these places, and sample food other than all carbohydrates. The China Town tour if by far more interesting and certainly more flavorful. I felt that the tour guide was getting a kick back on alcoholic drinks sold at various venues we stopped at. Not your best tour.

Delectable Morsels of Food and Insider Information

The Central Greenwich Village Food Tour was recommended by friends, and we're so glad we took their advice! Want to sample a true slow cooked Italian pasta and gravy? Love foods from India and Cuba? Always searching for that perfect NY slice? Enjoy insider information about where noted celebrities lived during their "days in the Village?" If so, you will truly relish this tour. Susan, our guide was extraordinarily knowledgeable and kept the group (around 16 total, I think) moving at an enjoyable pace. We sampled food from at least six diverse eateries while Susan filled us in on the history of the restaurants and interesting information about the surrounding neighborhood. Our new goal is to eat a full dinner at each of the restaurants on the tour!

Great afternoon - even in the rain!

We had a wonderful time despite heavy rain throughout the afternoon. But, if you are going on the tour during poor weather, be sure to dress for "outside tastings". Fortunately, we had rain gear on and so enjoyed the afternoon tremendously.
