Sample tasty treats from ethnic, old-school eateries in two distinct areas - one colorful and exciting, the other surprisingly quaint.

A very nice, interesting and tasty tour around a neighbourhood with history. We had teenagers with us and it is not always easy to please them but they were surprised themselves afterward and said that it was great. When (not if) we come again we sure like to go on a similar tour and we will recommend this to all our friends!

By far the best tour we took while in NYC

This was such a fun activity. Our entire group which was mothers and daughters (ages 26 to 62) all voted this the best tour we took while in the city. We saw parts of neighborhoods we would never had seen and ate food that was wonderful from places we'd never in a million years go. We were so impressed, we cancelled dinner reservations for one place and made them for one of the restaraunts we stopped at on the tour!! We would all highly recommend this tour to anyone going to visit NYC.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide was lots of fun and knew much about the neighborhood - both current and historical events. We went back to two of the selected restaurants for a full dinner and were completely satisfied. We would do this tour again and look forward to doing the other tours offered by this company next time we're in New York City.

Tour early, tour often.

It was interesting to have the tour after having cruised around the neighbourhood. The level of interpretation was well researched. Layers of history, culture, architecture, music and literature to name a few Our guide had first hand knowledge of living in and eating his way through the neighbourhood. Having the theme of food tied it all together, but even this became more complex with the explanation of family heritage behind many of the businesses. Better to do the tour early in your stay as it provides so many places to revisit for meals or food purchases.

Great Tour!!

A group of us take these tours on a regular basis. Always fun, always informational. We try to take tours of different areas, but are not opposed to repeating any of them!! (which we have done) This was the first tour we took of Central Greenwich Village--and one of the best. Our tour guide, Diana, was exceptional. Her command of the area and its rich cultural history was excellent. It was very interesting to learn about the past of Washington Square Park, NYU, little known restaurants and many of the small clubs that served as starting venues for many now-famous musicians. And the food . . . very good!! In the past, most of the tours provided adequate amounts of food. This tour provided more food than any of the other tours. The nice part of this tour was that three of the locations provided indoor, sit down tastings (very nice touch) All in all, this is one of the tours that we would have no hesitation in repeating!!

Awesome way to spend a NY afternoon!

My husband and I took our second Food and Culture Tour in September '10 while visiting NY City. This was the Central Village and Soho tour. (We took the west Village tour in the spring.) We found this tour to be just as wonderful as the first. Our tour guide, Raheem, was FANTASTIC, witty, personable, and very knowledgeable of the area as well as the cuisine. The samples and foods we tasted were fabulous! My personal favorites were from Cuba and Masala Times, although they were all just wonderful - Monte's, Focacceria, Joe's Dairy, and Once Upon a Tart.... I could go on and on. One of the wonderful things about these tours is that the written Guide you receive gives you so much additional information that you can use again and again as you revisit the areas and try other eateries. On this trip, we actually enjoyed brunch at a west village restaurant recommended previously on the other tour. It was perfect! I think the Foods of NY tours are one of the best bargains in NY City, and we will continue to be patrons. My husband and I highly recommend these tours! Sincerely, Teri Norris, Lexington South Carolina

enjoyable afternoon in the Village

We had a nice afternoon with our tour guide, Susan who took us around lots of different places sampling food and giving us a history of the area and the people who live there. It is good to find out as much as you can about a place when you are there so this was a good opportunity to do that and taste food at the same time. I would recommend this tour.

We really enjoyed the walking tour. Lots of history about people who frequented the area years ago and our guide was engaging and really passionate about what he does. Interesting and unique restaurants. Places you could never find on your own and a good variety.

Great tour and gift idea

This is the 2nd tour we attended, the first was the Village tour. Based on this, we can compare that this 2nd tour was much better than the 1st in many ways ---- great guide, Raheem, very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun; more interesting restaurants/tastings provided including few sit-downs enjoyed, most especially the Cuba Restaurant segment. Will definitely recommend to friends & family. Am already thinking of which family to give these tours as gifts to in the future ......
