Sample tasty treats from ethnic, old-school eateries in two distinct areas - one colorful and exciting, the other surprisingly quaint.

My husband and I took our second Food and Culture Tour in September '10 while visiting NY City. This was the Central Village and Soho tour. (We took the west Village tour in the spring.)
We found this tour to be just as wonderful as the first. Our tour guide, Raheem, was FANTASTIC, witty, personable, and very knowledgeable of the area as well as the cuisine. The samples and foods we tasted were fabulous! My personal favorites were from Cuba and Masala Times, although they were all just wonderful - Monte's, Focacceria, Joe's Dairy, and Once Upon a Tart.... I could go on and on.
One of the wonderful things about these tours is that the written Guide you receive gives you so much additional information that you can use again and again as you revisit the areas and try other eateries. On this trip, we actually enjoyed brunch at a west village restaurant recommended previously on the other tour. It was perfect!
I think the Foods of NY tours are one of the best bargains in NY City, and we will continue to be patrons. My husband and I highly recommend these tours!
Sincerely,
Teri Norris, Lexington South Carolina |

We had a nice afternoon with our tour guide, Susan who took us around lots of different places sampling food and giving us a history of the area and the people who live there. It is good to find out as much as you can about a place when you are there so this was a good opportunity to do that and taste food at the same time. I would recommend this tour. |

We really enjoyed the walking tour. Lots of history about people who frequented the area years ago and our guide was engaging and really passionate about what he does. Interesting and unique restaurants. Places you could never find on your own and a good variety. |

This is the 2nd tour we attended, the first was the Village tour. Based on this, we can compare that this 2nd tour was much better than the 1st in many ways ---- great guide, Raheem, very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun; more interesting restaurants/tastings provided including few sit-downs enjoyed, most especially the Cuba Restaurant segment. Will definitely recommend to friends & family. Am already thinking of which family to give these tours as gifts to in the future ...... |

We loved the tour ... a great, different way to see Greenwich Village and Soho. A fun way to try out different ethnic restaurants and learn some of the local lore at the same time. We would have never found these places on our own but will definitely go back next time we visit. P.S. Rahim was an awesome guide! |

We were a group of 15 co-workers on our annual summer outing. We took this tour because it was something different from what we usually do, but we had no idea of what to expect. It was WONDERFUL! It was such fun to be "tourists" in our own city. In fact, many members of the group are talking about doing it again with their family and friends. First of all, our tour guide Barri was interesting and informative. Secondly, the food was delicious. Book this tour with confidence. You will NOT be disappointed in any way. The value was excellent. The delight of the senses was priceless. |

We had a basic idea of what the tour would be but it was much more than expected. Susan was a great guide that not only brought us to great food but also told us the history of the area which we did not expect. |

The tasting portion of this tour gave me a great overview of where I'll want to return for a full meal -- or other entertainment. The food was all degrees of excellent. My faves were the smoked mozarella at Joe's Dairy and the unda bhurji pav at Masala Times. The cultural portion of the tour gave me insight into a fascinating neighborhood I've been hearing about all my life but, regretfully until now, had never seen. Our guide Raheem, though, is what made the entire package a real treat. He's knowledgeable and personable--a real character who introduced us to many other neighborhood characters. |

Actually, we took this tour two years ago, so we recommend it highly. Tour guide very personable and knowledgeable of the area and restaurants, plenty of great food, excellent variety of stops. We introduced our adult children to this tour, they were very pleased. |
