great tour with plenty to eat

We did the food tour as a group of two couples. Our guide, Barri, was awesome. She not only guided our tour to the scheduled stops for different food samples, but was able to give us some very interesting history about the area and also some of the famous people who live, or used to live in the area. This is information about the area which you would not otherwise obtain without such an informed guide. The food stops were great, you will not need to eat before or after the tour, the samples are generous and filling. All of the food stops had delicious food and friendly employees. Again, you will get plenty to eat during the tour!! All members of my group had a great time and learned lots about the area that we toured. We have done tours in other cities that were also very good and this one will also be highly recommended.

This was a great value for the money, and the guide had wonderful insights about the neighborhood -- beyond food -- that added a lot to the experience. I would highly recommend this to friends and family.

My wife and I toured with Barri on a hot Friday afternoon. Barri was enthusiastic, friendly, and very knowledgeable of the history and current make up of Greenwich Village. The food samples were delicious, varied, and quite substantial. Most in our group were stuffed by the end of the tour. Barri kept us supplied with water during the heat of the day as we learned about the architecture and history of the area in addition to the seven food and drink stops. The tour was the perfect lenghth. Will definitely take this tour again!

Our group of 12 spent just over 3 hours walking and tasting. The guide was well informed, articulate and shared her passion for the region and its food. There was plenty to eat. Very glad we did the tour and in all likelihood will do another.

Excellent mix of food and local history tour

Great 3 hour tour with a local greenwich village native - Diana - not only was the tour fantastic (and the tour guide!) but the experience gave us ideas for venues for future meals that we may otherwise have overlooked. We had already done the original greenwich tour and knew the tour would be a high standard but our expectations were more than fulfilled!

Finally got to see NYC at my pace!
Thu, Jul 10  12:00 PM Rhuebl Male 50-59 International Tourist(s) Family With Children
New York City is always going at a fast pace. Taxis zip you from one place to another, subways tear underground without seeing a thing, views from crowded buses are limited, at best. Even the double decker tour buses race around on a schedule, not giving you a chance to just stop and admire the architecture and the buildings. And when you get off the merry-go-round to walk around a neighbourhood, you don't know the history of the place or the story of the people. For one small neighbourhood, for one short afternoon, Food Of New York Tours changed that. Our well informed and experienced guide took us around a small part of Greenwich Village, explaining the history of the place, showing us the architecture, reliving the history of the people that lived there. It was how I wanted to see New York: on foot, learning how and when things were built, how the people live here. Oh. And there was food too! Lots of it, all from Mom-and-Pop restaurants. Enough food to last all day. And it was good food! And we visited stores that sold coffee right out canvas bags (the smell was amazing) and tea shops. But at the end of it all, the food is not the point. It's a reason to walk around New York, to learn about the neighbourhood and enjoy its history. Rainer and Alyssa
