GREAT WAY TO GET ALL YOUR FAMILY TOGETHER

Our little family of 13 made plans to meet one another on Bleeker Street where the tour guide was to meet up with us. Trust me, none of us had a clue what to expect , so we all just went along with whatever. Once we arrived, we met Michael who immediately set the tone for a casual yet informative experience. Michael was way more than just our tour guide. His knowledge of the area was truly amazing, but he made the experience so much more than that. His charm and wit and memory for our names made it all feel so personal. It felt strange when he said goodbye, as we just assumed he would follow us home. Every one of us, various ages included enjoyed something different on this tour. There were little speciality shops for cheeses, olive oil, and spices. We walked over to a block where there were many little neighborhood restaurants that looked so charming from the outside that you wanted to go inside and sit at a table. Of course the village characters were ever present and made for great entertainment and people watching. For me, it was the strong influence of neighborhood and a warm and welcoming atmosphere that drew me in. Certainly, it is an area of Manhattan that we can all feel more comfortable visiting again on our own. I already made my reservation at Palma for dinner next Saturday night with our friends to have dinner after the theater. So glad we did this tour as a family group. It was such a great way to get together and make some special memories.

We are two couples visiting New York. My husband and I did this tour four years ago and wanted our friends to experience it. The wife taught foods for many years. We met Ed at the cheese shop and immediately knew it was going to be a special afternoon. He greeted each new arrival and made everyone feel welcome and special. As we visited each place, Ed first gave us background - both historical as well as a description of what we would be eating and why it was special. He was considerate both of the other customers in the shop and of our group's comforts. Ed has a sense of humor that adds spice to the tour and his knowledge of the area and of each shop was amazing. As we entered a shop, he would ask us to gather in a certain area and then tell us about the food, the ingredients that went into the food, the method of preparation, how long the owner had been in business, and any other tidbits of information that might interest us. He didn't get too technical for the average listener, but he certainly could when questions kept coming. As we walked the historic streets and listened to Ed's explanations of the neighborhood and the people who were the main players in its' development, we all felt an appreciation and closeness to Greenwich Village. It truly is a charming part of New York. I know I speak for all four of us in telling you this is an experience not to be missed. The food is SO good and there is lots of it. We really didn't need anything else but a light snack or dinner for the day. This tour is such a value in a time when we all are looking for sensible ways to spend our money. Even though my husband and I had been on this tour before, we were thrilled with repeating it. Our friends felt the tour was the highlight of their New York trip. Don't miss your chance to be introduced to Greenwich Village in this unique and interesting way.

Great historical tour with lots of yummy treats

Overall, I found this tour to be very enjoyable. As a local, I got to learn more about some of my favorite Greenwich Village spots. However, I was surprised to see that many mainstays were not mentioned or visited -- Magnolia Bakery, Corner Bistro, and Mamoun's to name a few. I also thought the tour was a little heavy on the pastries. But I had a great time and would absolutely recommend this tour to others.

We had a very nice person showing us around and she did a great job. No complaints here. The food was very nice that we had with the tastings and I would recommend everybody to do this tour. I had a great time. Also the weather was in our favour so that made it to an Excellent 3 hour tour.

These "noshing" tours are excellent and great fun. The food stops were exciting and varied and the foods chosen were excellent. My husband, our 20 year old son and I all enjoyed every minute and were educated as well.

Our tour guide, Amy, provided so much interesting information about the area and all the food tastings were teriffic. The pace was comfortable. The tour makes you want to plan your next New York outing in Greenwich Village. This is a tour that would appeal to anyone interested in food or the culture and architecture of the area. I highly recommend it!

The 9 other women and myself had a wonderful time. Our tour guide Kurt, was extremely knowledgeable and very accommadating. We learned alot, our palette was pleased and laughter rang throughtout the 3 hours! We would definitely do it again. I think the beautiful weather helped as well, (sunny and in the high 60's, not bad for Nov.)
