Original Greenwich Village Food and Culture Tour

The tour leader Marie was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. It was a great way to see an area I might not have visited otherwise. The tastings were delicious - no need for lunch afterwards. I would advise people to do the tour early on during their stay in New York so they can then come back and revisit the area and take up some of the many restaurant recommendations! We easily walked down to the meeting point from Midtown 42nd street which took about 45 minutes.

It was so much fun to walk around this unique part of the city, learn some of the history and taste some excellent foods! Our tour guide, Bert, was very enthusiastic and engaging and knowledgeable. If you are just visiting NYC I would recommend doing this tour early in your trip so you know some good places to eat and can take advantage of the coupons they give you.

I have taken the Greenwich Village Food Tasting and Cultural Tour several times before and booked it again when a girlfriend of mine said she was coming to town for the weekend and wanted to do some NYC sightseeing. Two other friends joined in based on my recommendation and enthusiasm for previous tours. We were immediately taken with our Tour Guide, Bert James. What an incredible addition to the Foods of NY Tours family! He is incredibly knowledgeable and extremely passionate about NY in general and the Village area we toured specifically. He is engaging, entertaining and so happy to share his seemingly endless wealth of information with us. He was somehow able to make an already outstanding experience that much better by adding his warmth and charm to the basic tour itinerary. I should take a moment to also say that the tour itself is fantastic. It covers a very small area of Greenwich Village which is populated with wonderful mom and pop run shops and restaurants; all charming with a genuinely distinct, personal flavor to them. Many of the shop owners were present while we were there and we were welcomed and made to feel comfortable by all we encountered. More like guests than patrons. And the food! The delicious food! Everything we sampled was amazing and left us wanting more. BUT the 'tastings' left us so full we had no room for anything else by the end of the tour! I simply can't recommend this tour enough. The local history is fascinating, the offerings are generous and delicious and the Tour Guide even provides a map of the area with listings of the restaurants and shops either visited or mentioned during the tour for return visits! I am so looking forward to my next Foods of New York Tour!

What a wonderful way to explore a section of NYC we otherwise would have passed over. Our tourguide Marie was the best! She kept all 16 of us engaged, interested and especially well fed. We returned to some of the venders to purchase items and definitely plan to make reservations at Parma well ahead of our next visit to the city. I went with a friend and we both thought the tour was well worth the price considerating the generous size of the food portions, the length of the tour and the knowledge of the tour guide. We had a terrific time and I would highly recommend this tour to others. We are planning to do another one of the tours on our next trip back into the city.

Not only was the food great, but our guide was so informative about the area. I feel like I "know" Greenwich Village.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Marie. She was informative, funny, organized and enthusiastic. This tour offered delicious and hearty samples from a nice variety of shops and vendors. We will be back for another tour with this company next year. It was the highlight of our weekend.

Great way to see Greenwich Village and to discover some gems that one might not otherwise would find on their own. There was plenty of food on the tasting. Would highly recommend this tour.

Loved the cheesecake ending! Loved leader's enthusiasm and enjoyed others in the group. Great olive oil shop, good cookies at Milk and Cookies, cheese spread at Murray's and enjoyed walking through the neighborhood and hearing history! Will rave about this with friends in NC and CA, the 2 states from where our group hailed.

We came in from New Jersey and come into the city plenty but this tour gave us a new perspective and different adventure than normal.I took my boyfriend, a foodie and historian, as a surprise for his birthday. He loved it and so did I! Our guide was well informed and easygoing. The food samples were plentiful and delicious. The information on the area, it's history and architecture was interesting. We got turned on to some new shops and restaurants. All and all it really was a great time. I would definitely recommend this to others and hope to go on some of the other tours in the future. Compliments to the chefs and organizers.
