Except for the weather, the tour was great. The guide was genuinely knowledgable and fond of Greenwich Village and this came through. The tastings were fun and informative. It is true, that if you are going around lunchtime, you don't have to worry about getting something to eat after you eat your way through the Village.

I had a day to myself in NYC and decided to take the Foods of New York food and cultural tour of Greenwich Village. Although the day was very rainy and cold, I loved the tour. Bert was a very enthusiastic and entertaining guide. It was clear that he loved both food in general and Greenwich Village. I learned a lot about the history of Greenwich Village, including the restaurants and shops that we passed, as well as the history of New York in general. The food tastings were absolutely delicious, and I left stuffed despite walking around for three hours. I will definitely go on more tours with Foods of New York and, next time, I will take my family.

Tasty Eats + History = Great Tour!

Bert (apparently one of their newer guides - but you would never have known it) gave a great tour! Wide ranging discussion of the history of the village, plus shout-outs to different movies and TV shows (the apartment exterior from Friends! a favorite block of SATC film crews!) made it extra-entertaining. This was despite the fact that it was freezing cold and rainy on the day of the tour. And the food was awesome, and in even more locations that they describe on their website. Even my local friends would enjoy it!

I expected the food to be good, and it was, but the portions were so generous! We were stuffed at the end of the tour and knew a great deal about the area AND it's wonderful foods.

I did this food tour for the second time and can highly recommend it: It's fun, informative, great value for money (you certainly don't need any more lunch after it) and above all: Delicious!

Bert was a fantastic tour guide with a lot of enthusiasm and was teaming with knowledge about NYC. I would highly highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to eat a variety of small bites and who is enthusiastic about fresh food from small, local establishments.

I had so much fun on this tour. Even though it was a cold and slightly rainy day, our tour guide Bert kept us dry and happy. The food at each stop was excellent, a great sampling of different tastes and facets of the village. Bert explained each location in detail, and I went back to three places after the tour to pick up goodies. I really enjoyed how our guide explained all of the little shops and restaurants in the area, not just the ones in which we tasted. I left with a thorough understanding of the history and culture of the neighbourhood, and with a list of restaurants I can't wait to come back to. From interactions with passersby and store owners/employees, it's clear that this tour company is known and well respected in the community. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and personable, it felt like we were getting a private tour from a close friend. I will definitely sign up for another tour next time I'm in New York!
