Original Greenwich Village Food and Culture Tour

Our tour guide was fantastic. The tour was so much more than a food tour. The information on Greenwich Village was extremely good. And, the food was fantastic.

I had seen this tour on the Today Show and it turned out to be everything I thought it would be. It was a beautiful day, our tour guide Heather was fabulous, friendly,and very knowledgeable. There was a variety of food to try,each with it's own story. We actually had dinner at one of the places we stopped which was exceptional in every way. We have been to New York on several occasions and I have to say this was a unique experience and one I would recommend very highly.

We enjoyed this immensely. The food was great and always hot and fresh. We also learned some history of the neighborhood along the way. Great way to spend a few hours and really get to know the village.

This is the second time in three years I've gone on this particular Greenwich Village Food Tasting and Culture Tour. After going the first time, I had to share the experience with my significant other - who also enjoyed it. Anyone who is doing the "tourist thing" in New York must try this tour. Greenwich Village is a slice of true New York living and gets you out of the tourism and hustle & bustle of Times Square and Central Park. The tour guides that I've had, including Marie on this last one, are fascinating historians and experts in the area and culture. It's fun, informative, and tasty! Do not hesitate to try this with your family and friends.

My friend and I went on the tour not knowing what to expect. Well, it turned out to be a highlight of our visit to the city. The tastes were wonderful, and very filling. We didn't need to go out for a big dinner that night. Our guide, Marie, was very knowledgeable and energetic and fun. She told us history of the neighborhood and answered all our questions, and gave us future dining and shopping tips. After the tour we stayed around the Village and returned a few days later to get more of the delicious pizza, and other treats we sampled. By all means go and enjoy!

We enjoyed our tour very much, and found Marie to be a delight on legs. Let me first write about her: Accomodating, thoughtful and knowledgeable, Marie was a terrific ambassador for your group - she answered questions carefully and patiently and was considerate of people's comfort and time. Great job, Marie. As for the samples themsleves, they were ready when we were - the tour seemed highly organized and the proprietors were generous and varied in presenting their samples. I would happily go again and would recommend the activity to anyone visiting the New York area. It got us up and out into a new neighborhood with new character - I was pleased with the whole experience.

The food was great! We actually went back to Home that night and the food was better than the Mac and cheese tasting (which is hard to imagine). Nice to know you can get a great meal for a reasonable price in new york. We also enjoyed the tour guide. She was very informative and did a great job telling us neighborhood secrets.

Being from California, my 15 year old daughter and I wanted to learn about an area of NYC and enjoy the local food. This 3 hour tour delivered. Group was a nice size with less than 15 participants including many international participants. Cindy was just perfect as a tour guide with the authentic good natured New York attitude that only added to our cultural experience. We learned more about the area then we would have done on our own with humor and even surprises of engaging New Yorks on the street. While we toured for 3 hours we had adequate rest breaks in 2 restaurants and avoided some crowds by having Cindy gather our food samples and bring them to us on the beautiful streets of Greenwich Village. We experienced the area's history of the food and shops in how pivotal they are in the current food interest boom. Our guide was well informed and we never grew tired of her sweeping knowledge of her beloved city. If you have the time, take this tour its worth every penny and will stay with you long afterward.. My daughter and I now have a new favorite Italian food - the rice ball - yum!

The tour was fantastic. You really don't need lunch after this tour. All the food was so yummy. And the guide Cindy was great. she was very informative and fun to be around. Definately recommend it

We really enjoyed our food tour at Greenwich Village and consider it to be one of the highlights of our trip to NY. A few days after the tour, we returned to one of the restaurants on the tour and had dinner there, making another highlight for us. Diana, our guide, was great...enthusiastic, cheerful, full of info and easy to be with for 3 hours. It was a good way to explore Greenwich Village without having to navigate the confusing layout of the streets ourselves. We would definitely go on a food tour again and will be recommending it to anyone we know of who is going to NY.
