Original Greenwich Village Food and Culture Tour

My friend and I had a really great time on the Greenwich village food tour that we did in late January. Don't be fooled by the 'most people don't need lunch afterwards' comment, we were so stuffed after all the tasty food we barely ate for the rest of the day!

We love doing food and cultural tours/activities at home (Canada) so decided to try it while visiting New York for a long weekend .... it was fabulous! Our day was a little snowy and quite cold but it was absolutlely no problem as you are in and out of various establishments. The tastings were wonderful and the guide was really informative and fun . After the tour, we returned to a few of the places to purchase some things ie great olive oil, pastries & coffee. We also dined at one of the restaurants in Greenwich Village 2 nights later. A really great experience!

This was an excellent tour with an excellent guide (Carrie-Anne) who took us to some of the best tasting establishments in Greenwich. My only wish is that I had taken this tour on the first day of my trip to New York rather than the last as there were some fantastic places visited that I would love to go back to and spend more time to sample the fantastic food and wine. Get yourself out of Midtown and discover a very different side of New York, and enjoy some great food into the bargain! The guides are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and have a real passion for the amazing array of specialist food shops and intimate entertainment venues that are the hallmark of Greenwich Village.

We had the best time with our tour-guide Kurt, he was so funny and entertained us well. We were a small group of ten and so there was enough time for all our questions. It felt more like a group of friends than like a group of strangers. The food on the tour was more than delicious and covered everything - appetizer, entrees and desert. I really loved the hot cookie and the canellonie, actually the first one I´ve ever tried. It´s really a high quality food, and while you are tasting all the yummy things you get lot of information about about the food itselfe, the way it is made and the neighborhood it comes from. If you want to see and taste NY from a different point of view, try this tour!

We did a number of tours in NYC. This tour gave us an appreciation on the culture of food in the area and some of the local history. We found the vegetarian restaurant to be interesting in the pains they took to create vegetarian food which looked and tasted like fish and meat. The rest of the tour was filling but the food was not exciting. We expected to be wowed and tantalised by the food but were not.

great way of seeing greenwich village, you would never know the history or even find some places without the guide who's knowledge is unbelievable. Food on the tour was great!!!

A great tour that would recommend to any visitor to NYC. I have taken this tour several times before and have discovered something new each time. The guides are knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. and are great fun. Remember to wrap warm during the winter months!!

We loved our tour. It was very cold, but our guide made us all feel very comfortable. The visit itself was a perfect mix of delicious food, useful hints about the neighborhood and very interesting tidbits of informations about the history and culture of the area. We fell in love with a couple of places, went back into a few of the shops we visited during the tour, bought their products and even booked two dinners in the restaurants that were recommended on the tour... both of which were awesome dining experiences! All in all, this tour was definitely a highlight of my trip in NYC!
