This tour provides a wonderful mix of varied tastes, historical annecdotes and architectural information about a fascinating part of NYC. I particularly loved hearing about the homes and haunts of the early American writers who lived in the Village. The food was amazing and the timing of the tour spaced the tastings well so that we were able to enjoy each offering. Our guide, Marie, had a warm and friendly style and it was clear that she had developed a close and respectful relationship with the local establishments. I'd recommend this tour highly and hope to return with my kids and larger family next time we visit NYC. |

Was not so interested with all the details of the region, but visiting the area was great, the tour guide was energetic and passionate, and going to several store/restaurant and trying different foods was exqusite. I'd do it again (bit not the same location) |

Hi~ This was my third time taking this tour with visiting friends from out of town. I think that this is one of the best ways to learn about the history of New York as well as try some of the fantastic food that this city has to offer. I would highly recommend this tour to EVERYONE! You will be full by the end of this tour. Cheri NYC |

The Original Greenwich Village Tour was a terrific way to spend a Saturday afternoon and get the true flavor of a NYC neighborhood. The tour involved a small amount of walking and more than enough food for lunch. We tasted eight different items from local restaurants and specialty stores. Our guide spoke about those restaurants and shops, other worthwhile establishments, the history of the area, and tidbits about other parts of NYC. She was incredibly personable and paced the tour just perfectly-- a great mix of walking, visiting shops and restaurants, and (of course) eating. We recommend Foods of New York Tours to all of our family and friends and hope to return to NYC for another tour soon. |

A walking tour of Greenwich Village while it's 105 degrees outside. Tough, very tough. But, the food was fantastic. Would have been nice to include more wine tastings. Nice tidbits of info on Greenwich Village that you could probably have gotten by Googling. If you are looking for info/background on the different types of restaurants and other eateries in the village, take the tour. |

This is the second time I have taken this tour and it was even better the second time around! The guides are fun and knowledgable. The food is delicious! It's a wonderful area to become acquainted with and I have used their recommendations on more than one occasion and have never been disappointed. If you love food, and want a first hand view of the Greenwich area, you'll love this tour. |

This wonderful tour gave me a new appreciation of Greenwich Village. As a native New Yorker, I was surprised at how much I didn't know. Learning about the history and the architecture was really a bonus as I thought I'd only be interested in the food.
Our guide, Seprah was wonderful. She has a great personality and is sweet and very knowledgeable. She made sure to meet everyone's needs and the tour ran very smoothly because of her.
We made 8 stops and I enjoyed the food at all but one. Little Havana, Palma, Rocco's and Faicco's were my favorites. The stories that went along with the tastings were very interesting too.
I read a negative review recently of this tour that stated that it is only good for older people with mobility issues and non adventurous sorts because it's slow moving and doesn't go very far. I strongly disagree. This is not a race or a hike, but an appreciation of cultures and good food. If I wanted adventure, I'd go hiking. My tour included a wide range of ages (approx. 18 - 70) and I think I'm safe to say that everyone enjoyed it. It is not appropriate for children however.
I travel a lot but this tour made me feel good about New York. This is definitely a must do! |

This was my 5th Foods of NY tour: Chelsea Market once, SOHO once, and the 3rd time on the Greenwich Village tour. This was also a Xmas gift to some friends, but at the last minute they couldn't make it so we came alone. I eat a gluten free diet and, once again, was not disappointed and was quite full by the end of the tour (although I would have loved the arancini, I'm sure!) Thank you so much to Barri. The hottest day of the year (at least it felt like it) but she kept it enjoyable nonetheless. Thanks also to all the restaurants, shops, etc., that were gracious enough to extend their hospitality and ensure that I also had something at each and every one. We have revisited many of them since going on each of the tours and continue to enjoy all they have to offer. This will definitely NOT be our last Foods of NY tour! |

I brought a group on the Greenwich Village Tour on probably the hottest day of the year. Everyone was excited to attend but as the day wore on, the heat sapped up a bit of the enthusiasm. I wish there was a back up plan for this day as far as more indoor "eatings" and places to sit though our guide did her best to keep us in shade and keep things moving along. Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable and we enjoyed the historical portions as much as the food part of the tour. I would have enjoyed hearing more from the people at the establishments as well (how they got started, why they choose to do things the way they do). I also wish the guide book had a specific run down of the places we were going to and why rather than a listing of all the restaurants in the area. That being said, the food tasting part was fun and very good. One suggestion for a warm day audible (or summer time tours)--switch out the cookie place for Gelato--that would have been awesome (I did like the cookies but gelato would have been a great pick me up in that heat!).
Overall, I would recommend this tour and would attend another neighborhood version. |
