I took a first-time-to-NYC vacation with my college-age daughter last week. Our Foods of New York tour was one of the highlights of our trip! We did the Greenwich Village tour, had a GREAT and informative guide (Barri), saw so many great shops and restaurants, and last but not least.....delicious food! We came away very full and with a new found love for Greenwich Village. Highly recommend!! |

We got this as a Christmas gift since the buyer knew we love anything to do with food and culture. Although we live about 45 minutes outisde Manhattan, we are not so familiar with Greenwich Village. What a great area for restaurants...very quaint! Barri had lots of facts to share and was a great tour guide. The Olive Co was our favorite stop. We had lots of fun and would definitely recommend this tour. The only negative was the high price for 2 glasses of red house wine...$24.00. Rafele's was lovely, but we think more people would have purchased the wine or presecco if it was a bit cheaper...say $7-$8/glass. |

I've been a resident of Brooklyn for 3 years and I never experienced the West Village like I did on this tour. I received 2 tickets as a gift, so I brought along a native NY friend. Every bit of food consumed was amazing, from the arancinis to the canolis. The tour guide was great, and we learned a lot about the history and architecture of the area. I would highly recommend this tour to both visitors and locals! |

Our food and culture tour around Greenwich Village was great. The tour guide was extremely informative and it was great to have a laugh with her also. The places we visited were fantastic and the food tastings were lovely. We were all pretty full after the tour. Highly recommended 3hr walk. |

My group consisted of five sisters and two friends, of which I was one. One of the sisters and I had been on this tour in 2010. We enjoyed it so much that we had to share it this time around. Everyone really enjoyed the tour even the one who was gluten and dairy restricted. Raheem, our guide did his best to accommodate the gluten and dairy restriction.
He was very knowledgable about the subject and answered all questions with ease. Most importantly, Raheem was friendly, interesting and fun.
The venues chosen for this tour were perfect. Joe's Pizza was delicious as ever. The olive oil tasting was very interesting and informative. I had to go back to purchase few of the items and the 10% off for tour guests was very nice. Everything from cheeses to cookies were all wonderful. The stop at Restorante Rafele was by far my favourite. That sampling there was so impressive that we booked a reservation for the following evening for the "Omakase" 4-course dinner. Which was incredible.
This tour should be on the itinerary for anyone visiting New York because you learn about an important area of the city while discovering the gems that you'll sample. You can't do ths from the top of a tour bus or boat.
It's three hours of walking that you will not regret.
Special thanks to Raheem for his expertise. |
