A great way to experience the Village

This guided tour was everything that was promised and more. All of the places we visited were special and we were welcomed by the proprietors with great warmth. The food samples were all yummy and easily constituted lunch for the day, even for my teenage boys - that makes the tour great value. Our host, Marie, was knowledgeable and very personable, the kind of person you'd like to spend a few hours with. And, you get a great hand-out with descriptions of all the places you visited and numerous others so you have an insiders guide to eating in the Village that you can use for follow-up visits. Thanks for a well-thought out and tasty tour!

Must Taste, Must Do!

We had never tried anything like this and didn't know quite what to expect. What a delightful experience it was! Our nephew, in NYC for the first time (as a high school graduation present), was utterly impressed, and very taken with Greenwich Village. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable not only about the foods we tasted but also about the history and architecture of the area. We enjoyed it so much that we recommended it to friends who live in NYC, as well as family who visited from Australia recently, and who were going to be in the city. We tasted everything; from Joe's pizza, to nibbles from an Italian restaurant, to a specialty olive oil shop, to a specialty cheese shop, to freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, and to freshly made New York style cheesecake. WELL DONE!

Food & history - a great combo Greenwich Village

We loved our food tour in Greenwich Village! (family of 4 with 12 and 18 yr olds). A little off the beaten track....not as crowded as the 'major attractions'. We tasted the simple (NY pizza and chocolate chip cookies), the eclectic (risotto balls and dates stuffed gorganzola) and the divine (Italian cannoli)! Bert was our tour guide and was enthusiastic from start to finish. He happily answered all questions about the tour and NYC in general. It was hot but he never faltered. Bert lead us on a multi-faceted tour. Every street was a destination whether we were tasting delicious food, getting the lowdown on neighborhood restaurants and shops of all kinds or learning about the history of Village architecture. It was a highlight of our trip. Later that evening we went back to one of the neighborhood restaurants that Bert had told us about....there really was a 1700's farmhouse 'out back' annexed to the restaurant courtyard and surrounded by modern buildings!! Who knew. And the food there was superb....so that meal was a highlight of our trip too. It was a good day in NYC!

Great way to spend a hot afternoon in-between a.m. and p.m. activities. Learned some great history and cultural 'tidbits'. Food was wonderful, with pointers on what else was choice in the area. My friend has food allergies, and not only were these addressed most satisfactorily, Bert always made a point of 'presenting' her's first like she was the special one, not the different one. Bert did a great job and knows his food. We felt almost like locals going back again. Add more great tours!

This tour is not only informative but fun. It is a great way to learn about different areas of NYC. My entire group really enjoyed the tour and will not only recommend it to friends but also look forward to going on another one of the tours.

It was really hot but that did not interfere with the tour. Loved every minute and would definitely do it again. I used to go to NYU and this tour brought back many good memories.

Bert was an amazing guide, and we had a blast. We're local, but we learned so much we didn't know, and now we want to take all of our guests on this tour!

Our tour guide, Cindy, was extremely knowledgeable about the Village and the history surrounding it. She knew everyone on the street and obviously had a good relationship with them. The food was all so different and we met the owners of most establishments. One of the best things I have ever done in New York!

This tour was the highlight of my last trip to NYC...I specifically enjoyed stepping out of my normal zone, visiting an area that I never experienced during the countless trips prior. Our guide was amazing: knowledeable, entertaining and engaging from the start. This tour is a perfect place to start if one is looking to branch out from the Times Square crowds. It opened my eyes to a new range of options and gave me a true feel of New York. The food itself, simply put, was awesome. The tour served as an appetizer sampler, giving small hints of the treaures that could be discovered in the Village. Risotto, rice balls, cheese, pizza...my mouth waters as I recall the trip. Only two words can describe this tour...GO NOW!!
