Original Greenwich Village Food and Culture Tour

I just returned from my first trip to NYC (with a group of friends celebrating our 40th Birthdays!), One of the activities we had planned was the Greenwich Village Food Tour - AMAZING! We truly enjoyed this experience. My husband and I are both BIG "FOOD LOVERS" and this gave us the opportunity to not only experience the best of the Village offerings but also provided a very interesting educational aspect (that we had not expected). We learned so much about not only the vendors/ restaurants and their cuisine but also history of the area. By participating in the tour we now have a copious amount of restaurants that we MUST return to! Upon return from the tour we remarked that we would like to participate in all the others that are offered so that we can learn more about the other areas of NYC. (In fact at the end of the tour... although we were feeling quite satisfied and full we still returned to John's for ANOTHER slice of pizza). As well, our guide was enthusiastic, passionate and highly knowledgeable. She was a pleasure (DIANA!). We highly recommend seeing and learning about NYC restaurant offerings by participating in these tours.

Fantastic tour with a wonderful guide. We really enjoyed all of the stops, food and the history- we will definetly book another tour when we return to NYC again- can't wait to see what the other tours offer- this tour was so great that we actually went back to the neighborhood the following night and enjoyed dinner at the Palma-and stopped for pastries afterward-- wonderful!

Our tour was well paced and informative. All of the tastings were delicious. Our tour guide was amiable and considerate of our group as well as the community we visited. I have already recommended the tour to several friends!

When we were planning our NYC trip we booked this walking tour on the recommendation of a friend who frequently travels to NYC. He told us he'd been hearing about the tour for years but had put off taking it until recently. He's normally a low-key fellow but he raved about it, saying it was one of the best things he and his wife had done recently. He was so right---it was outstanding; we had a blast; it truly was a memorable experience! We were joined by two of our college-age sons and they totally enjoyed it too. Marie was our guide and you couldn't find a more knowledgeable enthusiastic and fun person to spend the afternoon with. Having lived in Greenwich Village for years, she knows the nooks and crannies of this most charming and beautiful neighborhood. We honestly didn't want this fun-filled tour to end. We walked away knowing much more about the history and culture of Greenwich Village than when we started and we were completely stuffed from the delicious food tastings. We were so enchanted by the neighborhood that we returned twice to eat at a couple of the restaurants we were introduced to on the tour. I seldom write reviews but I couldn't pass up doing this one.

Delicious and fun, this tour is a "must do" when coming to New York. Even though I am a 'local', I thoroughly enjoyed the history and the tasting of the many places we visited. This tour was a birthday present for my sister, and she could not stop talking about it and thanking me enough for the experience. We both agreed we never did anything like it before! We want to try some of the other tasting tours as well next time she visits. Our guide (Marie) was so much fun and so full of knowledge, I would recommend this to everyone who visits the city, especially food lovers like ourselves!

This was an excellent tour. I have travelled to the Village several times & had such a different experience this time. The guide was amazing & enthusiastic. Nine tastings in total - all were excellent. The historical information provided was very interesting. The merchants were very welcoming to our group. We returned to the area the next day to pick up some 'treats' to take home. Will definitely do a tour again next time I visit NYC!

The Greenwich Village Tour combines good food with interesting cultural history. Tastings are good and varied. However, it would be nice to see a list of places to visit before you sign up. My husband was not keen on at least 50% of the tastings and we may have chosen another tour had we seen a schedule. Tour guides were pleasant and knowledgeable however, I did not feel the need to tip as the tour was pricey enough.

Great trip which provides delicious foods as well as an informative presentation about the area.

We travel to New York several times a year usually to see a show and have a special dining experience. This year our 15 year old granddaughter accompanied us so we tried some different activities. The Tasting Food Tour of Greenwich Village was - by far - the highlight of our visit. Our guide was fantastic with a wonderful sense of humor and full of information! Needless to say, the food was delicious, unique and plentiful. We are already planning a return trip including a neighborhood Tasting Tour. I have also already given your website to several friends both from Maryland and New York and New Jersey.

This is a great way to get a snapshot of one of NYC's most charming neighborhoods! There is a well-balanced blend of history and culture, and the food is plentiful and delicious. Our guide was energetic, amiable, and knowledgeable - delightful in every way. This is a great activity if you only have a short time to explore Greenwich Village. It provides a wonderful introduction that will make you want to learn and taste all that The Village has to offer!
