Boring and patronizing

We have been on wonderful walking tours in other cities (Rome, for example!) but this so-called cultural and gastronomic tour, consisted basically of being led from one restaurant to another and then having to stand on the sidewalk outside each one, eating drippy samples on paper plates while our guide held forth about the merits of each one. To be fair, the discussion of olive oils was quite interesting. However, there was very little historical or cultural information about the neighborhood ... essentially, we paid far too much money for a three-hour infomercial for various restaurants (which we assume must have agreed to participate for promotional considerations). As visitors just in town for a week or so every couple of years, it did not motivate us to come back and eat at the recommended establishments. And it is hard to imagine that people who live here would enjoy being dragged around and lectured on how to choose a restaurant, either.

It was ok. I don't understand why it was given such enthusiastic recomendations. Also we went back to some of the restauraunts that were recommended on the tour and were dissapointed. This makes me think that the restaurants they recommend pay the tour company to recommend them. Not a bad tour, but definitly not great...far from great.

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting New York! Our tour guide, Mike, was extremely knowledgeable about the area, as he must have been a resident of Greenwich, which really added to the tour experience - it gave you a flavor or what it was like to live in Greenwich - past and present! The food we sampled was delicious, and with the great commentary from our guide made this tour well worth the time and money!! Thanks for a great experience!

Highly recommended tour due to the personality and vast knowledge of tour guide. Having the business owners visit with the tour group was a nice touch. Tour guide might not want to make assumption that everyone is from out-of-town. I didn't not enjoy the tasting consisting of deep-fried mushrooms as much.

Our guide was Michael and he was very interesting and very well informed. We learned facts about the age of the Village and how it started. The food tasting were good and of a varied nature. It definetly made us want to spend more time discovering Greenwich Village. We will be back when we have more time.

Don't expect to feel stuffed after the tour but it is definitely enough to get you through the day. All the samples and suggestions were amazing. It had an excellent balance of information on the history of Greenwich Village as well.

Our group of four had a very enjoyable time on the food tour. We enjoyed all of the food selections and learning about the history and culture of Greenwich Village. We highly recommend this tour. We plan on returning and participating in one of the other tours offered.

We took the tour on one of the coldest days of the year (something like minus 8 - without allowing for the wind-chill factor), yet still had a great time. The food-tasting element is more low-key than expected (a couple of bits of pizza, a rice ball, an Italian pastry and some cheese) but the informative, enthusiastic and entertaining style of our guide (Michael) - covering architecture, history and local anecdote as well as food - made it a tour to remember. We were a group of four from London and while we sometimes shivered in the biting New York temperatures (making London seem almost balmy by comparison), this was a highlight of our trip. Well worth sampling - but try to pick a warm day!

We were introduced to some places we would never have found on our own. On one occasion, one of our party remarked that ".. knowing about that place was worth the price of the tour alone..." Next time in NY we will definitely be back to Greenwich Village!! Thanks.

The tour was very entertaining, with Kurt as our guide !! We not only tasted many different foods, but learning about some hidden gems of the Village was fancinasting!! Also learning about the Landmark area, that Jackie O had a hand in saving NYC history- and the stories about the Village- all of this was as deliocus as the food on the tour.
