Wonderful thing to do on a sunny afternoon

Unfortunately, the weather was cool and crisp, but that is hardly the fault of the tour! I really enjoyed the Greenwich Village tour - we had a small group of 8, and that meant the tour guide could pay us all more attention and tailor the tour to our interests. He kept us at a comfortable pace, made sure we stayed on the sunny side of the street to help those with insufficient clothing, and was very enthusiastic about the area and the shops. It is especially good if you are an Italophile, as there are many many cafes and specialty shops catering to Italian needs, the best I've seen outside of Italy itself. In short, if you are looking for a relaxed introduction to the area, and want to sample great food while doing it, this is the tour for you!

I went together with my 19 yeras old daughter on this very nice walking tour, for almost 4 hours in the charming area of Greenwich Village. We learned a lot from the great guide - special thanks to him! The food tasting was great as well - we do recommend this tour !

In a city full of tourist traps and giant crowds, this tour is an breath of fresh air. They limit the size of the groups to 15 members so you get a great intimate tour of the west village. Topics include restaurants, food shops, local history, unique buildings. You really learn what it means to live in the village. The restaurants they reccomend are the ones you would only know about if you had lived in the village for a long time. Each one is extensively screened for over 6 months before they make the list. Those on the list are undoubtedly the best hidden gems of New York. We tried some after the tour and had the dining experience of a lifetime. Each place we sampled on the tour had some of the best food I have ever tasted. You get enough food for an average sized lunch. Tour guides are fun, interesting, and very well educated. You will be on your feet for most of the three hours. Absolutely worth the time and money for both tourists and locals alike.

Interesting but a little slow

I enjoyed parts of the tour, the highlights of which were Joe's Pizza and Chumley's speakeasy, neither of which I would have found or appreciated without the guide. However, the tour was very slow and not as informative from a historical point of view as I had hoped it would be.

Too much architecture, not enough food

i had mixed feelings. the tour guide was clearly an enthusiastic local (he seemed to know several random people walking by) and knew a lot about the area. he was also pretty nice and jolly. however, honestly, there was too much talking and the focus drifted away from food and restuarants to a bunch of fairly random, if somewhat interesting, stories that were tangentially related to Greenich Village. In three hours, we tasted food for 30 minutes at the beginning and 30 minutes at the end. at the end of the tour, i felt like i had found a lot of new restaurants (they provide a list of restaurants in the area, with menus and prices) and shops. But, I think we could have skipped the second hour and still covered all the relevant ground. I would only recommend on days with good weather and if you have some interest in history, architecture, etc. along with food ...

We are "foodies" so this was a treat...even our 14 year old son whose normally only goes for hot dogs, hamburgers, mac and cheese, pizza, etc. loved the tour. I'd recommend it to all my friends and clients. Thanks again. Tom Linton Altour International Los Angeles

On Saturday, April 2nd, four couples from Canada came to NYC to get away from the kids and have some fun. This tour was a great part of our group holiday. We were all impressed at the little facts and anecdotes regarding the history and culture of Greenwich village. I have to mention Chumley's as a poignant nook we would never have dreamt of finding on our own. Great food and stories - Spectabulous.

Great tour with great food. Our guide was fantastic. Not only do you get to sample foods from 7 restaurants/food shops, we got a great historical perspective of the village. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone in NYC for a few days.
