There were six of us visiting New York for my wife's birthday and we were looking for something different to do. My wife heard about the walking food tours and suggested that it might be a fun thing for our group to try. Well, she was right. Everyone in our group loved it. We did the three hour Central Village/SOHO tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job showing us around. We stopped at seven different locations for food tastings. We sampled everthing from soup to main course dishes to deserts. Everything tasted good and everyone in the group felt full by the end of the tour. We also stopped at other interesting and historic places in these neighborhoods. To keep this very short, I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the city.

Much More History of the Restaurants than Expected

Raheem, the tour guide, was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge of the culinary cuisine and history of SoHo/Village restaurants. Were able to make about 7 stops with a variety of foods and cultures, without being rushed. Best part of all, I was able to purchase a wool hat made in Tibet(very cold that day) while putting down hickory smoked mozzarella and a handful of homemade sausage!

Best of the NY Food Tours
Sat, Feb 6  12:00 PM amandahunter Female 20-29 Local Group of Friends
We have been on a few Foods of NY tours, and this was by far the best. Our tour guide was a true foodie, but wasn't a food snob...which is hard to come by. He was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food, the restaurants and the surrounding area. We have already made reservations to return to two of the places on the tour.

My husband and I left the tour half way through it (1.5 hrs). The tour was great, along w/the tour guide. I liked the sampling of food and restaurants that I otherwise would not have. The weather was too cold for us to remain outside. However, I do plan on rebooking the tour next time I am in NY.

We were a couple with an adult child with us, and knew it was likely to be cold, but dressed appropriately, (with handwarmers!), and thoroughly enjoyed not only the familarizing of the area, but loved the sampling of many various foods. At one stop, we had the opportunity to sit down and even enjoy a glass of wine and warm up! Our tour guide was "Dave", and you felt like he was a friend just showing you around .It was a very relaxing, and indeed, provided plenty of food. I had been on a tour of another area through this same group a few yrs ago, and must say I enjoyed this area of Greenwich village even more so. However the first time I had nothing to compare it to, so enjoyed it immensely as well. I highly recommend the food tours as a great ,and most tasty way, to learn about NYC!! I will do another one the next time I come.

What a great way to explore a neighborhood! The tastings were wonderful, and a good range of flavors and cultures. I tried 3 things I would never have normally eaten...I embraced the vibe. Next time I am in NYC I will definitely be doing one of your other tours and have already told many friends about you. Barri was a patient, knowledgeable and entertaining guide!

The price is right for this wonderful afternoon. I brought my daughter as part of her birthday celebration weekend and we were not disappointed! Our guide Barri was filled with knowledge and enthusiasm and the places we visited were very welcoming and delicious. I work in NYC so I am there every week and now I have a long list of wonderful dining experiences to share with clients and guests. This tour is great not only for tourists but for locals who want to know what is available to them. This was my second tour in 5 years and this one was very different from the other one. I would highly recommend it!

Cindy was excellent as she not only knows the geography but the people as well. I thought that the event was priecd appropriately as you see much of that part of the Village and have access to the kitchens and the people that run the businesses. My sister had gone on this tour as well as the Chelsea market tour and highly recommended as do my wife and I.

I would highly recommend this tour for any tourist or New Yorker who would like to learn more about the history of Greenwich Village while enjoying the diverse cuisine that the area had to offer. Having moved to NYC 3 years ago, I was embarrassed at my lack of knowledge of the area and was introduced to many eateries which I will return to in the near future. Our guide, Cindy, was full of energy and humour and made the day enjoyable for everyone. Her positive attitude and extensive knowledge made us really appreciate the neighbourhood and forget about the cold weather! The small group size (max 16 people) made it possible for us to enter many of the smaller establishments and made sure that each member of the tour received individual attention. Having a severe nut allergy, I was slightly concerned about participating in the tour and was prepared to miss out on some of the cuisines. Cindy made sure that there was a nut free option for me at each place we visited and was incredibly caring and understanding. I look forward in participating in the other tours which the company provides and will recommend the Greenwich Village tour to all my local friends as well as any tourist to the city.

The food was very good. The guide was very articulate and knowledgeable, but spoke way too fast for non-Americans to be able to follow him easily (even for native English speakers coming from other countries!)

A Unique Saturday night....!!

This was certainly a very special way to enjoy the foods of Japan. On the very positive side, both my husband and I found the food presented to be different, flavorful and extremely well prepared. So much of this we would probably never have ordered. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was beyond helpful and courteous. I had hoped to be in a room where there would be more interaction with other guests (perhaps a more casual and central kind of seating, instead of individual tables). Also thought we would get to see the preparation. It felt as if we were eating out by ourselves while someone was lecturing. The person in charge of the evening was charming, informed and always there to be helpful. Our feeling was that too much information was being presented, and it often detracted from the dining experience.
