Hit or Miss, least favorite tour so far

This is my third tour with Foods of NY, and it was my least favorite. The first two tastings were fantastic - the amazing Brooklyn Blackout Cupcake, the Roman-style prosciutto/argula/tomato pizza - huge slice, yum. Very good. The tartine - tiny portion, but good. Next, a cup of grilled corn with chipotle aioli. Ok, but after a few bites, it was just corn. A ho-hum tasting of fresh ricotta on whole grain bread, with nary an explanation of why we were at that particular restaurant, and why that ricotta was special. Then a stop that boggled my mind - we went into a salon started by a friend the guide knows. Haircuts 90-200$, seriously, why would we be interested in that? What did that have to do with food or culture? We soon found out - the guide showed us a beauty book written by the friend that has a photo of the guide! I didn't come to NYC to see a picture of the tour guide in a beauty book! I came to learn about food & history in a NY neighborhood. I was so turned off that I left the tour before the final tasting. It was cold, rainy, and I just didn't care anymore.

Our tour guide Barri was great! She was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the area. All the food was delicious an we walked away full. This is a great way to try a bunch of places in the village on a short trip.

Excellent tour guide, excellent food and lots of fun! I would strongly recommend it. Wear comfortable shoes and eat a light breakfast if you do the 11:00am tour.

Great Food Tour of Greenwich Village

This tour was not only deliciously informative but was the best bargain you'll get in NY. The guide was delightful and informative and the food was even better. There if no way you can go wrong taking this tour. There were 4 people from Holland in our group that repeated the same tour since it was so good. We will definitely do it again.

It's a must!

Fabulous 3 hour tour including, history, architecture, culture and FOOD! A great way to explore an area you may not have thought to go to and gives you the confidence to visit restaurants you may not have felt you could before. We found that many of the restaurants didn't look particularly enticing from the outside, but once in, they were fabulous!

After two rainy days in NYC this tour was truly a ray of sunshine! Our guide was extremely knowledgable as well as a lot of fun. The venues we visited were varied but equally delightful. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys history and good food.

Wonderful Tour

My group found the food tour to be extremely well run and we all had a great time. Our guide, Susan, was fully knowledgeable about the area and had many interesting stories and information to share with us. The food was all excellent and well presented. The only thing I would change would be the type of food offered - it was all excellent but very filling and it might be better if some of the tastings were of a 'lighter' fair, with less breads. Otherwise, it was a great afternoon and we are looking forward to doing another food tour on our next trip to NYC.

I really enjoyed the Chelsea Market Food Tour. Thanks to Barri, our guide, for her enthusiasm and energy. She was excellent! She was knowledgeable, interesting, warm, welcoming. There were about 7 stops on our tour, all of them great. Portions aren't huge, but when you add them all together, you'll be pretty satisfied. Our favorite stop was Lucy's Whey Shop, for some pretty amazing aged cheddar. Great tour overall - thanks!

2nd time on this tour
Sun, May 19  1:00 PM Jdeshaw Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Brought a couple of friends from Canada and did enjoy the tour, other than the weather. Group of 16 is too large. Can't all get close enough to the guide o hear everything, especially when most of the narrative is outside with the noise from the neighborhood. 1:00 pm tour is too late.....most of the places we went were crowded but all in all, I would still recommend the tour.

Heather was a great tour guide!

Despite monsoon-like conditions, Heather entertained the group and no one left before tour's end! Loved the food but most of all, loved the history mingled with legends. What a great way to spend a few hours, despite the weather!

Another great tour
Sun, May 19  12:00 PM tberray Unspecified 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
This was a third tour and we enjoyed it as thoroughly as the previous two tours. Although it was raining the entire time, the food, stores, and history still made for a fantastic tour. Our guide, Raheem, is high-energy, fun, and knowledgeable and he kept the tour moving and made each stop and taste come to life. We plan to do the other two tours during our next couple of visits to the city. Also, the food tastings provide more than enough lunch for the heartiest of eaters. We are all quite full by the end of the tour.

Highlight of our weekend in New York City
Sun, May 19  11:30 AM bramundo Female 50-59 Local Group of Friends
Even though we had a rainy day, we were so lucky to have an entertaining and informative tour guide, Curt. I think he was one of the best tour guides, and this was one of our favorite tours that we have taken. We loved the history that was interwoven with the delicious food. Highly recommend this tour and looking forward to future tours in other areas with this company.
