Great guide, nice tour but food bland & uninspired

| No question guide was best part of experience and was enthusiastic explicator of area haunts & history. Altho $44 doesn't require knock out food or big portions, it should be warm ( tour began late and food was prepared for earlier arrival), tasted bland (i.e., potato gnocchi at Monte's & potato pizza at last stop), and uninspired. Nothing exotic needed. Why not try a little red sauce or something familiar to compare against? Authentic Italian pasta maker & cheese maker across from St. Anthony's Church were great and tasty. Indian Bakery was good as well as Sullivan St. Peanutbutter Co. with taste of curried chicken in pb sandwich. One bone to pick: tour need to be prepared for vegans or those with food allergies for alternate offering(s). (There were insufficient quantity of substitute to satisfy the number of people in these categories in our group.) Another quibble: Tour covered many spots but ommitted mention of a few notable restaurants in the area that are on par with, or superior to, Monte's, et al. Best part was learning history of area. In summmary, it was a good tour because of our guide and nice walk around the area, but food, in general, was disappointing. Correct that and you have a 5+ star experience. | ||||||

| Great food! We were able to sample food from other countries (i.e. Indian, Greek, Italian, Middle Eastern). The tour was interesting and tour guide was very knowledgeable. We were looking forward to the Israeli and Jamaican food as described in the tour info, but for some unexplained reason we never got to sample these foods. We would like to recommend that tour ends where it starts. It was a bit confusing to get back to our subway station afterwards. We did not enjoy this tour as much as the Greenwich Village food tour which we took last year. Bleecker Street Pizza remains our all time New York pizza favorite!!!! | ||||||

| I can't begin to say how much fun we had on this tour. I took my mom for a Mother's Day gift and it was clearly the best thing I have ever given her. We spent the day together and enjoyed all of the interesting things we learned about the village as well as enjoyed all of the wonderful tasting! I couldn't believe how much food we got on this trip. I was expecting small samples, like the grocery store, but to my surprise, we were given good sized portions of everything to try. I do have to say, we had the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life that day. And the specialty shops that we went into were really neat. I would highly recommend this to anyone. My sister, the one that is in NYC all of the time, said that this was one of the best things she has ever done in NYC! | ||||||

| It was a fun tour and our guide (Raheem) was awesome. He was really funny and he was a dynamic and interesting speaker. He really seemed to enjoy what he was doing. I did the Greenwich Village tour a few years ago and that one had better food, but this was still enjoyable. If I repeated one though, it would be the Greenwich Village tour, not Soho. | ||||||

| This was the best Birthday gift ever! Thanks to my husband we had the most fantastic time with at Chelsea Market tour. Our guide was Kurt and he was terrific, we laughed so much. His abilities to learn everyones names were great. There were 16 of us and it felt like he knew all of us in a matter of minutes. He was very funny, but very knowledgeable. Samples food items were in ample portions. We did not need lunch or dinner for a while after the tour. It was great to see the comradary among the vendors in the Market and Kurt ( our guide) They all knew him and welcomed the entire group with open arms. I must have recommended the tour to at least 10 people already. Please , keep up the good work and we are already signed up for another tour ( Greenwich Village tour).. | ||||||

| We were a group of friends that went on the Greenwich Village Tour. It was a perfect day. We had a wonderful time eating, learning and walking around the Village. Our tour guide Marie was really great. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the area. Thank you! | ||||||

| I had Sam as my guide and he was warm, funny, friendly, and smart - he even learned every participant's name! The tour was on a cold, rainy day-a perfect activity because 99% of the tour was inside (he would have done more outside but we were too cold and wet). Thanks for providing this service...Chelsea market is a real NYC gem for foodies! Ann Turner, Chevy Chase, MD | ||||||

| We were met by an energetic red-head with a fabulous knowledge of the Chelsea Market, the stores in the market and the Meatpacking district. Our bellies were full by the end of the tour and we'd learned alot about the area including serveral restaurants that we'd love to try for dinner. It's a must go on tour! | ||||||

| It rained steadily for the entire 3.5-hour tour but our guide kept our interest and offered a strong distraction from the rain with his knowledge of the classic central West Village and its historic clubs, hotels, coffee shops and hangouts. We sampled eight types of food on welcome opportunities to go indoors, learning first-hand why the Village/Soho may be New York's most ethnically diverse neighborhood and why eating there is as much adventure as it is appetite arousal. The guide, incidentally, spoke to be heard above the street sounds, although he sometimes rattled off his stories a bit too speedily. | ||||||

| Friday may 9th. Everyone showed up for the walking tour of Soho and central village and it was pouring rain and windy.Rajim our guide was interesting and informative. He tried to get us inside our tour stops to let us eat inside as much as possible. It was very good and enjoyable despite the weather. My recommendation is maybe a couple more eating spots, just don't tell us about how good the food is at certain places but let us sample them. My first tour of Grenwich Village we had 11 different eating places. Next I was at the Market area and that was 9 or 10 so a couple more would make it perfect, cause there was quite a span between eatries at the latter part of the tour but overall it was informative and interesting and I will definitely book for the 2 new tours. Japanese Tapas and Shisii. | ||||||

| Super. Yes, we did have great tastings at conspicuous places but the uniqueness of this tour is the discovery of small "hole in the wall" eateries that were great surprises! | ||||||

| We had previously done the West Village tour and were looking forward to another quality experience, but this surpassed all our expectations. Even though it was pouring rain, we had a blast as Curt, our guide, had interesting insights and/or humorous comments about virtually everything we tasted, asked questions about or just walked by. Five minutes in, he knew everyone by name and made the tour a very personalized experience for each of us. The food was varied, abundant and excellent. By the end, no one was thinking of lunch. From the ritziest restaurants to the Hogs & Heifers bar, everyone knew Curt and we were welcomed onto the premises. An entertaining way to spend a few hours. I would recommend it to anyone. | ||||||
