Totally worth it, awesome food and tour guide!
Fri, Sep 21, 12   11:00 AM dparras Unspecified Unspecified Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
There were seven in our group and we all enjoyed the experience. Our tour guide was exceptional and knew the area very well. Not only did we tast great food but we also got a history lesson of the area. All the restaurants we visited were very nice and really appreciated us being there. I would definitely do this tour again or one of their other neighborhoods. Don't miss out if you visit New York.

The Chealsey Market food tour was very informative and interesting. We sampled many good foods and our guide, Cindy, was knowledgable and friendly. 3 hours passed very quickly. Would take the tour again next time we are in NY.

Lots of fun, delicious food, interesting facts

This was my 3rd food tour in NYC (all with Foods of NY), so I would definitely describe myself as a fan :) Our guide was very knowledgable and super nice. The details he told us about the different places and the market area were interesting. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. I came back twice afterwards to get more food from the places we visited. So the coupon book was useful as well. I would love to take more tours, and would highly recommend them to everyone. I've taken then with other people as well as alone, and in both cases it's been a great fun.

Darryl, our guide, was so, so entertaining. He had a dry wit that summed up many of the attractions of the area's history and its current change and growth. We particularly enjoyed strolling through Morimoto (the Iron Chef restaurant). The food was yummy, with one of the highlights being, believe it or not, the chocolate milk from Ronnybrook. However, all the food and the opportunities to do some shopping in the Chelsea market, combined to make this a fun experience for two out-of-towners such as me and my husband. Thanks Darryl. Give this tour a try.

We enjoyed our tour with Daryl. He was very informative and funny. Loved all of the tastings and info about The Market and Meatpacking District. We had taken the tour 6 years ago. Great new additions with some of our favs from last time. Don't miss this experience!

Chelsea Market/MP District Disappointment
Fri, Sep 21, 12   10:00 AM jandriscoll Female 60-69 International Tourist(s) Unspecified
If you are expecting a market on the scale of la Boqueria in Barcelona then this is not it. It's a very commercial market in an interesting old building, which has sympathetically been renovated to retain some of the original features, but the individual shops make for mostly a sterile experience. This is countered by a standup comic who doubles as our guide on the days he doesn't have a gig. The Meat Packing District accessed by a walk along the High-line was interesting and our final stop in an old butchers shop for a tasting was excellent.

3 hour tour which went by very quickly. Multiple gourmet food tasting sites, all of good quality and most of great interest. Guide (Kurt) extremely well informed and entertaining. Many useful tips given during tour. Well worth the time and $ spent.

The Chelsea Market tour was fabulous. Great vendors, great food, and a FABULOUS tour guide, named Kurt. Kurt made the effort of learning our names at the beginning of the tour. He was great at engaging all of us and we enjoyed his humor the entire time.

Wonderful Tour for Locals and Tourists Alike
Thu, Sep 20, 12   12:00 PM spadafore Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
This tour was a great mix of West Village history and food tasting. I am a local, but my parents live elsewhere so it can be difficult to find activities in the city that we both enjoy. All of us had a great time and learned quite a bit while touring some of the tastiest places this neighborhood has to offer. I would highly recommend it to both people like me, who spend much of their time in Greenwich, as well as tourists like my parents that had never been to lower Manhattan.

This was our second time with Foods of New York and we cannot recommend it enough! Marie (our guide) greeted us by first name and was so welcoming and accommodating. The food selection that covers such a small but history-rich area was tasty, although be prepared for lots of cheese and bread (not a bad thing!). This tour offers such a great combination of walking, eating and learning that you would be silly to pass it up.

This was our second tour with Foods of New York Tours and I have to say that this one was actually better than the first. We plan to eventually take all of the tours offered because of the rich experience they offer! Take the tour, it's worth every penny!

The food samples were top notch. There was more than enough food given during the tour, and our host was wonderful at providing information about the market and it's history. Would highly recommend. The Highline was an added bonus of touring the area.

I have been on two other Foods of New York that were better. This tour was mostly inside the Chelsea Market. I prefer walking through neighborhoods.
