Loved the food tour!!
Sat, Jul 18, 09   11:30 AM SandraLR Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
My husband and I enjoyed the Greenwich Village food tour this past Saturday afternoon with Marie. She was a great guide who provided a wealth of information and "behind the scenes" stories of the area. Not only did we get to try some delicious food but we also learned so much history of the area and got a peak into the lives of the residents now and in the past. The restaurants and stores chosen for the tour were top-notch and did not spare expense to give us a taste of their offerings. We would definitely recommend the tour and hope to do it again in the future.

The highlight of our trip!

Sefra took us through Greenwich Village, sharing the MOST DELICIOUS treats in the city. From pizza to chocolate chip cookies to fine cheeses, this food tour was tasty and entertaining. My 17- and 19-year-old daughters and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour, and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone (who doesn't mind walking/standing for three hours!). Thanks for a great time!

Best food in NYC!

My brother and his girlfriend joined us in NYC for this tour, he and she from Albany, us from Florida. They like food and we like history. They loved the food and surprisingly, so did we. There was a lot more food than I imagined, and it was all really tasty, liked everything and ate it all. The guide was terrific too, very NYC girl.

It was enjoyable to learn about Chelsea Market and the entire area. The tastings were great and the guide knowledgeable and amusing. I definitely would recommend this tour.

My wife and I are spending more time in Manhattan for business reasons and will be living in Chelsea. So we both really enjoyed getting to know better places that we will be frequenting. Diana was an excellent guide, both knowledgeable and entertaining. The one thing that I would note is that we were told that we could receive a 10% discount for purchases at the stores we visited on the tour if we told them that we were with "Foods of New York". When we went back right after the tour to make a few purchases, the employees at the stores looked at us like we were crazy and were trying to pull one over on them. Foods of New York should get that straight with the stores, since that was disappointing. (Also tell Diana that oversized wine bottles are named after kings mentioned in the Bible and that Nebuchadnezzar was a Babylonian king. ;-) ) We are looking forward to taking other tours with Foods of New York when time permits.

My wife and I took this tour as part of my birthday celebrations. Diana (or Diane) was our tour guide. We had a really good time going to the various gourmet food places and restaurants. Diana gave us a very detailed and interesting history of how the Chelsea market came into being. We also enjoyed the inside peek into the high end restaurants Morimoto and Del Posto during their off hours. I would recommend this trip to friends and would like to revisit all these places again on our own. We were quite tired at the end of the tour...but I guess that goes to show that a lot of ground was covered during this tour. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a hat and sunglasses if for the outdoor part.

I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TOUR TO EVERYONE. THERE IS DEFINITELY ENOUGH TASTINGS TO MAKE YOU FULL. OUR TOUR GUIDE WAS EXCEPTIONAL. I CAN'T EXPRESS ENOUGH OF HOW SHE MADE THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE VERY INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE. I WOULD GO ON THIS TOUR AGAIN WITH FAMILY OR FRIENDS WHO ARE NOT FROM THE NYC AREA.

The food tour was a recommendation, and we are so glad we went through with it. Our guide was incredible: enthusiastic yet professional, a real "foodie", knew so much about the city and taught us a lot. And it was delicious! Every restaurant we sampled was unbelievable-- authentic dishes from people who just really love food. I have been visiting New York City for years, and this was one of my greatest highlights to date. A must try!

Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The tour guide, Marie, made it feel comfortable and very enjoyable. We enjoyed learning about the neighborhood and it's past. The new tasting was especially a nice surprise. We have mentioned the tour to many folks -- so you are getting some great press. When we visit New York again, we plan on taking another of your superb tours. Many thanks.

Great way to see the neighborhood

This tour was great! Our guide was Marie, she was very sweet and knowlegable and enthusiastic about the neighborhood and, of course, food! I am actually from new York city and went with a friend from out of town, and I found it just as enjoyable as the " tourists". The variety of food was excellent. The history of the neighborhood was really interesting and included cultural and political information. The whole tour lasted over 3 hours and was well worth the $46 each. Highly recommended!

The tour was fantastic. Beyond the food, you learn about the history and happenings of Greenwich Village. The food selections are fantastic! Palma is the highlight!

DO IT ON YOUR OWN!!!!

Let me start out by saying that I really wanted to enjoy this experience and was looking forward to it for weeks. My boyfriend and I took the Chelsea Market tour while visiting from out of town and brought along my parents and sister who are all local to NY/NJ area. Chelsea Market is an incredible facility with a lot to explore, but simply put, I am sorry we didn't just walk around on our own. Based on the tour description, I was expecting a much more behind-the-scenes experience. Essentially what you get is an escort to take you to a few purveyors and give you a sample and a little bit of back-story. Our tour guide was very nice and somewhat knowledgeable, but I felt him grasping at straws to fill this 3 hour long tour. The most important thing to note is…you DO NOT need 3 hours as it gets tedious and boring (and that’s coming from a foodie)! The good news is that you will eat well b/c the sample sizes are substantial enough to satisfy even the heartiest appetite. My suggestion is to bring a good tote bag and use that 3 hours shopping yourself silly. Instead of taking the tour apply that $43 + tax/tip you would have spent towards the delicious Italian imports, beautiful produce and fresh seafood you can find tucked within the walls of Chelsea Market.
