Foods of New York Tours

My husband, ten year old daughter and I had a great time. I never thought it possible that a walking tour could be entertaining enough for my daughter, but she had a great time. Our guide did a marvelous job helping us to understand the culture of the village and how much the residents love living in such a diverse area with it's many characters! We found the restaurant choices fun and the portions appropriate for a food tasting. We would recommed this tour to native New Yorkers as well as toursits. It is also nice to go to the village because it really is off the beaten bath and not too many tourists.

Our family of four visited NYC in cold December -- I have spent a ton of time in NYC and the other 3 in our group were visiting for the first time. This was a great tour that suited all our needs well. Good mix of food and history. The shops were a little small for our stroller, but we managed. Our tour guide was helpful and informative.

Although we've been to Greenwich Village on many ocassions, we were surprised that there was so much to learn and see and eat! Cindy was a fantastic guide who made everything fun and interesting. We would definately do this again.

Our guide (Ed) was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Greenwich Village and food. It was great to get the insider view of the area. I'd highly recommend it to others.

we enjoyed it

This tour was beyond our expectations, not only were we able to savor some of Japan's authentic dishes, but we are so well informed that eating sushi at our local restaurant will never be the same. The one aspect of the tour we would have wanted to see was the sushe preparation. We would have loved to have been able to see how the fish is chosen and cut and how the rolls are made. Except for this minute detailed, which we expressed to our guide, the food was excellent, the service was comparable to the food and the ambiance could not have been better. Our tour guide was exceptional, you could sense how much he enjoys doing his job. The way in which he presented the tour was not from a pre-rehearsed script but a delivery from an extremely knowledgeable person who helps you to savor the food even before you place it in your mouth. We have taken three of the tours already, we have enjoyed and highly recommend each one of them. But this one exceds all others by far.

Seven adult members of our family that ranged in age from 23 to 58 took the tour and all were extremely impressed. Our leader Ed did a masterful job. He kept the pace going and held our interest the entire time. The 3 hours passed very quickly. This is the second Greenwich Village tour my wife and I have taken, the first in 2000, and though we very much enjoyed our 2000 tour, this was even better with more tastings and more historical information. We also took the Chelsea tour two years ago and it was wonderful as well. We highly recommend this tour. It is well worth the price and is a great way to get to know a little about the Village.

Would have liked one more food stop. We were fortunate to have Michael for our tour guide who knew eveyrone he met on the street, which really gave the feeling of a true neighorhood. We went back to the Olive Oil Shop on Bleeker and placed orders to be sent home. One suggestion - it would be great to have wine tasting at the end of the tour with the cheese sampling. Will return for tours of other areas in NY and recommend to friends. Worth the money.

Our tour guide - Curt really made the experience. He was extremely entertaining. I wondered what we could possibly do for 3 hours but the time just flew by. The food tasting was wonderful. There were small portions but delicious and such a wide variety from the soup, cookies, biscuits with jam and gelato just to name a few. I am hoping to plan another trip to Soho or Tribeca based upon the great time we had. My 21 yr old son was with us and he had a great time too. We enjoyed the other aspects of the tour as well.

First off, our guide (Eric) was awesome. Obviously his quit wit and humor made the whole experience much more enjoyable. The food tasting was awesome and the history he provided was great. Would absolutely recommend this to everyone visiting New York.

I wanted to try the Original Tour first. It was great! I now want to do the other tours as soon as possible. It was the highlight of our trip to New York for Thanksgiving! I learned and ate my way through New York City. The tour guide was informative, interesting, knowledgeable, and had a good pace. No complaints!

Loved the Greenwich Village food tour. Have visited the Village many times before, but it was great seeing it on the food tour. We got to see alot of "out of site" places that we normally wouldn't have found. Loved Kurt our guide. He made it a VERY enjoyable experience for everyone in our group (of 11). Even our 9 year old son loved it! Would definately recommend to anyone.

Christian was our guide. He was low-key, friendly and interesting. The tour itself was well organized too and was more than a food tour - something that's a good thing. Got a feel for the neighborhood itself, so the tour was more than just a string of eateries. Will surely keep my eyes open for other tours by the same group.

I had read a review for this in the New York Times and it exceeded my expectations. It's amazing how you can walk down a street many times and not realize the culture and history behind it. Christian, our tour guide, was gregarious, energetic, and knowledgeable. The shops at which we stopped to taste were unique and the food was delicious. I also enjoyed all the other stores that were mentioned as well as the architecture and other anecdotes. The three hour tour went by in a heartbeat and I was definitely not hungry at the end.

Very happy with the tour as well as tour guide. I cannot wait to go back to greenwich village to do some shopping and eating! I will highly recommend!
