More Chelsea Market than Meatpacking district

| My expectations of the tour were to learn and see something about the history of the meatpacking district. Yes, the title of the tour says chelsea mkt /...... still I hoped to see more of the other part of the title. Instead most part of the tour was spend inside the market. The market itself was nice, the food-tasting was OK, but if you don't mind missing some explanatory details and marketing of the shops you can do this on your own easily too. Finally outside the market strolling around the area was nice and interesting. Regarding the organization this was more than ok and very good arranged. The guide Sam was on-time and very entertaining, so a big plus for him! Conclusion; all was well guided and organized, but I would not do it again. I will read other peoples comments first before booking a tour to be sure it will meet my expectations. | ||||||

| My husband & I loved the tour. The tour guide was great -- very enthusiastic & knowledgeable. We loved all of the tastings, the group was just the right size. It lasted a good 3 hours, it was hot the day we did it but the pace was just right not too hurried. We cant wait to return to New York and look forward to joining another tour. We will recommend this tour for sure -------- many thanks! | ||||||

| I've visited this area before and wasn't sure if this tour would be worth the time. However, our tour guide provided nice little "nibbles" of the West Village without feeling like it was a canned script. She presented a nicely balanced 3 hours of food tasting, neighborhood history, insider views, and humor. It was so worth it and I'm looking forward to the Chinatown tour this summer. | ||||||

| This tour was without a doubt the highlight of my 5 night stay in new york, and it had a lot to contend with, including Phantom of the Opera, a Gospel tour of Harlem, and a sunny day in Central Park. Our tour guide Mike was a real Grenwich character with a great sense of humour, an obvious love for food, a wonderful knowledge of the place and it's history, and a wonderful singing voice to top it all off. This tour was unique to me in that i never really felt like i was on a tour with all that awkwardness of being in a group of people's company who you don't know and will only be with for a very short period of time. To the contrary it felt like a stroll around Grenwich food shopping with some friends. As for the food well i could go on and on and on and......well it was to die for. The pizza was fantastic, the olive oil amazing, i can hardly contain myself when i think about the chocolate chip cookie fresh from the oven so that the outside was crisp and the inside soft with chocolate chips melting perfectly as you break it apart...ooohhhhhhhh yeah, and the finale in the cheese shop where i got to try a canole for the first time...let's just say that canole was worth the price alone, although you could of course get it a lot cheaper. But then you'd miss out on all the other things that made this tour something i will never forget. We also went back to one of the restraunts, Palma, which was on the tour and the food was sooooo good and very reasonably priced. I'm only sorry we didn't do this tour on our first day in new york so i could have sampled so much more of the places we saw on the tour. My final word, if you like really good food, in a wonderful neighbourhood, with an entertaining friendly guide...you most certainly won't be dissapointed. Bon Appetit. | ||||||

| We had a lovely time on the tour and the only "complaint" would be that in the beginning we felt as though we were being rushed a bit. We understand that there is a limited amount of time that we can spend at the locations because of other tours, but it would be great if the guide could lead us around without doing the countdown... you have two minutes to ... blah blah. | ||||||

| Very nice trip, nice group, enjoyed our guide. The food is very good and I enjoyed seeing the historical buildings as well. I went back that evening and had a very nice dinner with my husband in one of the restaurants recommended by our guide. (I would suggest that those with young children leave them at home. Somebody brought a 4-or-so-year-old and although he was reasonably well behaved, he was bored and miserable and the stroller didn't really fit into most of the places we stopped.) | ||||||
