A wonderful tasteful and informative day
Fri, Apr 14, 06   11:30 AM Bond1965 Male 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
The Greenwich Village Food Tasting and Cultural Tour was recommended to me by friends who enjoyed it thoroughly. They were not wrong. I found the afternoon to be highly informative about the history of Greenwich Village, as well as the many restaraunts and food stores found there. Our tour guide, Michael, was extremely knowledgable and friendly and gave not only great insight to the foods we sampled but also the history of the Village. It was not uncommon to have people from the area stop him and say hello and tell us how lucky we were to have him as our guide, and they were right. I found his personal narrative of living in the area and the history of the places, people and events fascinating and enjoyable. My only regret was that I had not take the tour sooner, so I could go back to the many places we visited and sample more of the wonderful food and menus of the Greenwich Village area. I will be sure on my next trip to New York City to bring my guide from the tour and take advantage of the wonderful array of food and stores. Since taking the tour, I have spoken to other tourists and New Yorkers and told them how wonderful my experience was and that I would suggest they take the time to attend the tour themselves. Thank you for providing such a lovely day in The Village and a BIG thank you to Michael for being such a fun and informative guide. James Carrocino

Fun, exciting, VERY informative...

This was by far the most fun and informative tour. The food provided was in large portions and excellent!!!! Our tour guide, Michael, was so full of knowledge. He has lived in Greenwich Village for 20+ years and offered so much actual insight, way beyond what any book or magazine could provide. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Greenwich Village and who has interest in learning about this area of NY.

This tour was recommended by a friend who had done it last fall, and the rec was right on point. The food was fabulous, the tour guide (Michael) was witty and insightful and definitely had a feel for history and the modern personalities in the neighborhood. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone interested in food, or anyone just looking to unlock a few secrets of the Village.

The Greenwich Village tour was a food lovers delight. It was very well done Including the details such as providing water and pointing out restrooms. The tastings were delicious, varied and abundant. The tour guide was knowledgeable about food and restaurants as well as the hidden places and history of Greenwich Village. We visited some areas that I did not know existed. and I grew up in N. Y.. We have never taken a tour when we return to N.Y. but are very glad we did this time. It was a perfect way to enjoy the Village. Thanks for a great afternoon.

My friend and I felt the Greenwich Village Tour was the highlight of our trip to Manhattan. Not only did we taste some delicious ethnic foods but were able to see sites only those on this tour would see. Barri was well informed and interesting.

As advised by another review writer for this activity, we booked early in our trip so that we could return to some of the places we visited and were recommended. The tour was a brilliant combination of fantastic food and entertaining information about this interesting area, so very different from the rest of New York City, and well worth every penny. We returned over the next few days to try some of the recommended restaurants and shops and they were all outstanding. Book today; you won't regret it!

Eating our way through Greenwich

I participated in this tour with my adult daughter on our third spring break trip to NYC. It sounded perfect--a chance to revisit Greenwich Village and sample some good food. I was amazed at the food selections! I expected little tastes of things as we meandered the streets, but we got a really substantial amount of food--all of it very good--from pizza slices to cannoli to kabobs and pastries. We especially enjoyed the sit-down cheese tasting. It's a good thing we did plenty of walking to work some of the calories off. Our guide, Curt, was wonderful! He was funny, charming, knowledgeable and accommodating. He took us into some great little places (like Chumley's) and had plenty of interesting stories to tell. I'm already e-mailing friends to tell them of this tour. I highly recommend it!

it's fun and interest to know the area and different kind of food, eventhough we had heard that your recommendation are not the best in the area, but we did enjoy the tour.

What a great way to spend 3 hours in NY! The food was good, but the fun to me was hearing the stories behind the different places we visited. Who knew I'd learn the origin of pizza on a NY street? I got to try my first canoli and heard about John's Pizzeria and how they are the ony pizzeria who can use a coal fired oven. Now I've been to many bars in my time, but the speak-easy was the highlight of the tour for me. A great way to spend the day, I highly recommend this tour. Greenwich Village is such an interesting place on its own, but our tour guide Mike made the day. Mike knew everyone he saw, he said hello by name, asked about their kids and spouses, he even paused to pet a dog whom he knew by name. I can't speak to the other tour guides, but Mike was awesome!

Fabulously fun, tasty and informative!
Wed, Apr 12, 06   11:00 AM tanorton Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
The tour included more than just the incredible food, we were allowed into some secret village places--a 1802 framhouse hidden behind a restaurant, a still in operation speakeasy, coal filled basement at John's pizza, etc. We learned a lot and actually went to dinner in the village the next night from the list they provided and had our best meal in NYC Le Gigot) Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who loves cultural history and good (and some unique) foods.

This tour was highly recommended by a friend and did not disappoint us. We returned the next night for dinner at one of the "local" restaurants.
