We had a lovely time on the tour and the only "complaint" would be that in the beginning we felt as though we were being rushed a bit. We understand that there is a limited amount of time that we can spend at the locations because of other tours, but it would be great if the guide could lead us around without doing the countdown... you have two minutes to ... blah blah.

Fun way to spend a morning!

Very nice trip, nice group, enjoyed our guide. The food is very good and I enjoyed seeing the historical buildings as well. I went back that evening and had a very nice dinner with my husband in one of the restaurants recommended by our guide. (I would suggest that those with young children leave them at home. Somebody brought a 4-or-so-year-old and although he was reasonably well behaved, he was bored and miserable and the stroller didn't really fit into most of the places we stopped.)

We found this tour to be fun and informative. All the eateries we visited exceeded my expectations. The tour guide was very interesting and entertaining.

First off, we had the best tour guide imaginable (Cindy, I believe). We got a great history lesson, great food, a great handout to take with us (which I will reference again on my next visit to NYC) and simply a great tour !

Enjoyed the tour with my wife and 12 year old son (who loved the pizza stops!). We went back later in the week to several of the stops on the tour and finished our week with an excellent dinner at one of the restaurants our guide recommended. We would never have found these places without your help. Thanks again. JON, CHRIS & DAN (SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND)

Great idea, but not well executed

We enjoyed the historical and architectural aspects of the tour, but the food tastings were poorly planned and in some cases poorly chosen. Murray's Cheese, O and Co., and the cannoli were great and more what we expected throughout. But the bad Thai food and dreadful chocolates in a so-so gift shop should be eliminated. The tastings would be better organized in the form of a meal with antipasti at the beginning, main courses, cheese, and finally one dessert at the end. Why three or four sweets between savory tastings? Why two pizzas? I would cut back on the number of tastings and pump up the quality and the organization.

Enjoyed the tour and Sam, our tour guide. Have taken the Greenwich Village tour and liked it better. Although the history of the Chelsea Market Building, and its owner/developer, is interesting, it's not as much fun as the history of the Village and its changing residents.

Great experience

Though only from New Jersey and a frequent visitor to NYC (even lived in Chelsea for 2 years) there's places you happen to miss or walk through without picking your head up to experience. This tour was a great way to experience a village with a lot of history and food! I am always looking for new places and with all the options in NYC, it can be overwhelming (and scary if you've never tried the place yourself). I was joined by a close friend (my age) and her parents, all of us from NJ. The consensus was that the tour was well worth it. I made sure to pick up some business cards so that I can bring more friends. I would be excited to tell them that I found this place after doing a tour w/ Foods of New York. Our tour guide - a born New Yorker - was very well versed & filled us in on some pretty neat stuff!

We really enjoyed this tour. There was quite a lot of walking involved, but the Chelsea Market was fully under cover, and had nice smooth walkways which made access nice and easy, as I was travelling with my sister who uses a walking frame - the tour would be accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs etc. The tastings were great - really good cookies at the first stop, and our guide was very informative with history of the area - and amusing too. Then we walked through the meatpacking district, which was a little harder for anyone with wheels, but still accessible, and our guide made sure we were able to keep up. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would recommend it to anyone else, and would like to try some of the other tours if we are ever back in New York if they are as good as this one.

Enjoyable, but missing past offerings

I took the same tour 4 years ago and loved it very much; this time I brought my family. They enjoyed the tour, but I was missing some of the elements that were there in the past--- the Halal stop, Chumley's (I know that must be disappointing to you all too!), etc. The stops were nice, but just didn't seem as "exotic" as before. Our tour guide Maria was obviously very passionate about the neighborhood, and did a good job despite facing a few delays in the food service.

Saw Greenwich Village as never before, didn't even look like New York! Walking the streets of the village was like walking around the quaint streets of Europe! Very informative, humorous tour guide; good food. Be prepared for alot of walking.
