Mother-daughter weekend event that we both loved. Will try another tour the next time we come to NYC!

Exceptional in many ways!

Kurt our guide was exceptional in his range of knowledge on every aspect of the village. It's past, the architecture, the people, the changes in shops, homes and overall situation was told and explained in great detail in a very fun and interesting way. He is obviously involved in the community and it was really nice to know that we as a tour were very welcome into all of the shops and restaurants that we visited (and boy were they a great choice of places to go to.) The food we had was lovely and yes you could easily say it's enough to make you not want lunch (chinese dumplings, pizza, cheese and the best cookies I've ever had amoungst them). Enough time in each place to taste and look but not too much that you felt you were in the way or indeed required to buy anything later. But from everything I saw on the tour I went back to buy from 6 shops and would happily visit a couple of restuarants we went into on another visit to NY. Seriously, go on this tour, it is amazing!

Wonderful experience to tour the village

I lived in NYC for two years yet this tour was still very impressive, not only giving you the knowledge like the history of the village, architectures, but also giving you more food than you could eat. I was there with my boyfriend and both of us couldn't eat much the rest of the day since we were well fed on the tour. Our guide Curt has the amazing ability to talk for three hours without letting us feeling bored at all. He's got great personality and was kind enough to give me his leather jacket during the tour since the weather was a bit cold. The sample of the food from local restaurants were delicious and at the end of the tour, we felt like we were pros of the village and ready to head back to pick a restaurant knowing what to expect. We were also given a brochure of the listing of the restaurant, with some coupons. I hope the rising rental price don't push out these family restaurants, some of those have been there for over 100 years. However, there were couple of stories we heard on the tour that already showed some disappearance of the originality of the west village. We love the Gramma's pizza (sicilian style) and the fried rice balls. The tour is definitely one of the highlights of our weekend retreat to the city, among other favorites like the show Avenue Q, central park, circle line night cruise and a foot massage in Chinatown. The tour guide was personable and knowledgeable and the food tastes were delicious. My group went back to several of the food establishments to get a few more "tastes" after the tour was over. I highly recommend it.

my husband works in the city several days a week and I had the chance to accompany him. Had the chance to go on the tour and what a great treat it was. not only did i get a chance to sample some of the great food items available at the market, but had an opportunity to go into several wonderful restaurants and learn quite a bit about the neighborhood and how it is changing.

Fantastic Tour!

This tour was fantastic! It was definitely worth the time and money, and and was the highlight of my trip to New York. Our guide Curt was absolutely full of personality, and made the tour entertaining as well as informative. He learned everyone's names at the beginning and made an effort to interact with each of us throughout the tour. The 3-hour tour included a lot of great food (definitely a full lunch) and information about the shops we visited. There was also a good mix of information about the history and architecture of the neighborhood. I enjoyed the "walk...eat...walk...eat some more" pacing of the tour. I'm vegetarian, and I was pleasantly surprised when substitutions were made without any fuss. (That's somewhat rare for vegetarians.) My favorite stop was probably Murray's Cheese, and we stopped back for souvenires (more cheese) after the tour. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting New York City. Suggestion: I see that some of the reviews recommend omitting one of the pizza stops, because, apparently, some believe that two slices of pizza are too many. Please, please, don't remove either pizza shop. I would actually be happy with three pizza tastings. Thanks.

Great tour to understand Greenwich Village

I am from Europe, so the tourīs historical side especially was interesting as well as all different info on the neighborhood. All the food tasting we did was really good, mainly Italian (two pizza places was a bit too much though). The icecream was excellent! I definately recommend this tour, you experience the area better!

I grew up in NY, and even I loved this tour! I learned a ton of history about the neighborhood, and found some of the most amazing gourmet shops, and best restaurants! I would have never come across these places on my own. The tastings were incredible! One was better than the other. My husband and I were *stuffed* by the final stop on the tour. Some of my favorite tastings included Italian pastries, NY's best pizza by the slice, Greek olive oil tasting, cheese tasting, fresh chocolate chip cookies, Italian rice balls and Thai chicken dumplings. There were more tastings, but those were my favs. I took this tour in April, and cannot wait to go back to NY in June. I will be going back to try some of the amazing restaurants our tour guide Kurt recommended AND I will be taking the Chelsea/Meatpacking Tour as well.

We had a great tour guide who was able to personalize the tour, and give us a well rounded experience. You could tell you were given more information then she had from her script, and she made special stops that she thought the tour might like. As for the food, I was very happy with the portion sizes- ( a whole slice of pizza as opposed to a little sample), and also with the variety and quality of everything I tried. I would definitely recommend this tour to first time and frequent NYC visitors.

This was my first trip to New York and after reading several guide books we decided to book the Greenwich Village Food Tour. I'm so glad we did. It was a fantastic morning and we really loved all of the stops along the way - we even went back to a few during our holiday! It was also interesting to get a bit of the history of the area while we were walking around and we felt that it was a great start to our trip.

Informative & Delicious

We took the tour after it was recommedned to us by friends and from the moment the first slice of pizza passed our lips we knew we were on to a winner. Each stop offered a different taste of the Village ( no scrimping on portions either!!) and left you wanting more. Where else can you learn about the history of an area whilst savouring the many different foods on offer. The guide was enthusiastic and knowledgable and made the tour that extra bit special. As a result of one of her many recommendations we returned the following day to a restuarant, Home, and had a fantastic meal. We can't wait to return to NYC and will certainly be taking on of the other tours on offer. 10/10....Allan & Michelle

The highlight of our trip to NY - come hungry!
Wed, Apr 9, 08   11:00 AM maryfitz Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
This tour was the highlight of our trip to New York. We thought we were just going to get "bites" of various foods, but nooooooooooo-- everything we sampled was portion sized. Come hungry! And it's all delicious. Our guide, Amy, was terrific. It's obvious that she has passion for her work. She was very down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and a delight to get to know. All in all, a tremendous value at the price we paid. We'd recommend this without reservation to anyone, and we will be recommending it to all our friends who travel to New York. BIG THANKS!
