Great trip delivering more than expected.

This was a great trip that I recommend to anyone. I had booked the tour based mainly on the food aspect., looking forward to sampling some of the places down in the Village. The food did not disappoint but the experience was so much more. I'm not a history buff or anything like that but, to learn all the little facts and tidbits about this part of Manhattan was very entertaining and interesting. I particularly enjoyed going into some of the smaller restaurants before they opened on a Sunday morning and learning about their background and history. Everyone was very accomodating and friendly which just added to the tour. The time flies by and its unfortunately over before you know it. I can't wait to do another tour on my next trip downstate.

Food choices lacking.

Bread, a slice of pizza, rice balls, another slice of pizza, & more bread . . . . . we would have liked more variety in the food choices, and not so heavy on the carbs. Quite over-priced for what we received.

We really enjoyed the experience of the Japanese Tapas. I highly recommend adding on the beverages, the beer and sake greatly complement the food and complete the whole experience. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and shared his experiences of the Japanese culture. Having just traveled to Japan the previous summer, these authentic Japanese courses were a reminder of the cuisine we experienced there. Each course was fantastic and had something new to learn about and try. The explanation behind how each dish is made and why it is presented in the way it is was fascinating. I highly recommend this activity! Kumpai!

We loved our tour with CIndy. She is extremely entertaining and knowledgeable too. The food was delicious and we enjoyed seeing all the different shops. We took one of the dinner recommendations and had a lovely meal that night thanks to Cindy. This is a great way to get to know Greenwich Village.

the tour was great, appreciate the glorious weather (!) and Cindy's knowledge of history made the event even better. I was also pleased that the store/restuarant owners seemd so thrilled to have us ... the all seemed to take an interest in us and were enthusiastic about their place! I didnt really care for Aphrodesia - that was a stop I wish I missed... no food, uninterested store owner, very narrow window of interest I'll be on another tour the next time Im back!

Absolutely Fabulous!

Cindy was absolutely fabulous as our guide! Her love of the village, the food, and her historical & cultural knowledge were appreciated by everyone. I soaked it up like a sponge! The food samplings were a delicious assortment from the village! By the end of the weekend, I purchased over a hundred $ of olive oil, pastries, breads, and then went to the Cornelia St. Cafe for Sunday brunch. One of the nicest results of this incredibly fun tour, was the neighborhood feeling that Cindy gave us about the village. I would go again in a heartbeat. Put a brown street sign on Cindy - she's a historical treasure! Hey Cindy, remember me, I was with you when it wasn't raining, but finally sunny and warm!

A well organised and enjoyable tour

Extremely enjoyable tour with a good balance/variety of food ranging from savoury to sweet mixed with good local knowledge which was passionately conveyed to the party. Everyone made to feel very welcome very quickly and Ed had obviously taken the time to do his homework on the group prior to meeting which was appreciated. The day benefitted from fine weather and on the Sunday evening we all agreed to return to Palma restaurant for an excellent meal and dining experience. Rice balls and chicken dumplings were a personal highlight, with the two choices of pizza being noticeably different in taste (the first having a great flavoured tomato sauce with the second a more crispy base and more overall flavours). We all look forward to experiencing the food tour again in the future! Well done and good luck for the future.

An amazing tour of the area -- combination of history, culture, architecture and, most important -- great food. Our guide was not only knowledgable about the food and area, he was passionate about it. This is something I would recommend to anyone traveling to NYC.

Fabulous Fun and Food

Four of us went on the SoHo/Greenwich Village tour, expecting to visit 8 sites and sample food. WRONG!! We were in for the treat of a lifetime with our guide, Raheem. For over three hours we walked the streets of Greenwich Village and SoHo and learned history, architecture, culture, and all the hints of where to go, when to go, and what is special. As I feverishly took notes, I tried to mentally plan when we could come back for a few days so I could take advantage of the night time jazz and music scene, re-eat all the foods on the tour, and dine in the other restaurants we passed. We were given so much more on this tour than we expected. . .both in food for the body and food for the soul!! And by the way, the foods on the tour were a true treat, and we did return that evening to eat at one of the establishments we had visited. We were very warmly welcomed. All in all, I would highly recommend this tour, and try to choose a glorious April Saturday like we did!!

I attended the 3hr chelsea food market/meatpacking district tour on the 5th April 2008 and would highly recommend it. The guide was really friendly and informative and the food samples were fabulous! We were allowed to sample cookies, soup from a lobster shop, italian delicacies, gelato, scones, jams and probably plenty more that I have forgotten. It is a great way to get a feel for part of NYC you may not normally visit as a tourist but gives you a great feel for the area. Highly recommended!

Michael was an exception guide. He lives in and knows Greenwich village, its people, history and was a wealth of information and fun tidbits. The three hours went so quickly. The food samples were much larger than we expected and were delicious. The NY subway has a stop very close to the start of the tour. We highly recommend the tour and will definately go again on our next trip.

I would HIGHLY recommend the Foods of New York walking tour in Greenwich Village. Our tour guide Ed was a local, very informative, and friendly. Not only did we learn about the food culture of Greenwich Village, but we learned about the historical aspect as well. We got to try a lot of different foods and see a wide variety of food shops and restaurants. The food was fabulous, and I was completely full by the end. This was an unforgettable experience!
