Pleasant walk with snacks & culture on the way
Sat, Sep 20  11:00 AM Catriona22 Female 40-49 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Marie as our guide. We were given some historical information on buildings and some cultural information on the musicians of the swinging 60s who had lived in the Village. The tastings were varied and welcome on our 3 hour walk but would have liked just one pizza tasting perhaps replacing the second one with some other New York delicacy. The weather was very warm and we had a very pleasant tour.

Not a gourmet experience
Fri, Sep 19  12:00 PM amy1970 Female 30-39 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
This tour really wasn't what I expected. Considering the stores and restaurants in the area, the food we were given was not up to scratch. Murrays cheese shop looked great and had some fantastic looking cheeses, we were given three tiny squares of hard cheese which all tasted similar. No blue, no soft. The olive oil store was also really worth the visit, where you could easily spend half an hour sampling different oils and vinegars however, we had one slice of bread with two samples drizzled on it. The Milk and Cookie shop was cute and the cookie was fantastic. You also get two slices of pizza from different places, a very strange deep fried ball of rice (which made me feel ill) and we gave up before the visit to the kebab shop........ The guide gives you the history of some of the buildings and the general area, some of which was quite interesting but the tour was just too long. 3.5 hours and he was still going......too much for us, so we left. If you only have a few days in the city, don't waste your time with this.

Highlight of our trip to NYC
Fri, Sep 19  12:00 PM tayloranco Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We had a wonderful tour of the central village and SOHO. This was my second food tour, and am looking forward to attending others on my future visits to NYC. This is a great way to see different areas of the city. History of architecture, the people who live there or lived there, and additionally great scoop on restaurants is given. We went back to 2 or 3, and had wonderful meals. Our tour guide, Rahim, is very knowledgeable of the area and is passionate about his beloved NYC and food! Thanks Rahim!

Guide was very informative with info on all aspects of the tour and New York overall. Easy walking pace - food tastings could be given more time. Overall excellent tour.

I would definitely recommend it

I loved the tour but I would have enjoyed it more had it been about 30 minutes shorter (less cultural walk). The stores/restaurants we visited were fun, creative and off the beaten path but I thought there could have been more variety.

Work Outing, FANTASTIC
Fri, Sep 19  11:00 AM MaribethY Female 20-29 Local Other
The tour was wonderful, it was so informative and it made me really enjoy the beauty of the village. It also allowed me to find some places that I wouldn't have found on my own that have good food and great ambiance. I'm excited to walk around the village by myself now, because I am fully confident I can go and enjoy it more fully.

Our leader was enthusiastic and well-informed which made for an entertaining evening. The restaurant served perfect portions of tasty tapas and sushi. We feasted with our eyes, palettes and learned a lot. Several tapas were memorable and the sake was premium grade. Thanks!

A chance to really look around a neighborhood
Thu, Sep 18  12:30 PM judimpaul Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
It gave me an opportunity to look more in depth at what the neighborhood had to offer and how it looked. Usually I just walk through and enter only if I have information or the outside is alluring. Sometimes I felt (and this could just be me) that it was a form of advertising for the places we stopped. The guide should make a disclaimer unless this is true. The guide was interesting, nice, considerate and enthusiastic. The time constraint, however, was sometimes too evident.

Our tour leader, Rahim, was a delight. Very knowledgable, enthusiastic, and animated. His love for food was obvious and he gave us a great historical overview of Soho and the Central Village. I'd highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to learn about New York culture.

Good food plus history
Thu, Sep 18  12:00 PM RickGadd Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Other
The food is generally excellent; the reason you go on a food tour of course. As an added benefit though is the history of the area you get as you walk the area. I personally found that almost better than the food.

Overall was good. See comments below!

Guide was very enthusiastic and gave great information on the history of the area. Would have liked to have had better food on the tour and in a different order, third item on tour was a sweet, then afterwards a sandwich, another food item was dessert then followed by pizza. Could also have had more water to drink.

Our guide, Raheem was both enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour immensely. My husband, a picky eater, actually tried everything that was presented. We were not hungry at the end of the 3 hours. We recommend this to all.
