Fantastic experience - Best tour guide ever!
Sun, Mar 9, 08   12:00 PM MarkandJenny Male 40-49 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
A wonderful tour of Greenwich Village. Made special by our guide, Michael, who conveyed his intimate knowledge of the area, people, cuisine and history so vividly. His relationship with local residents and business folk clearly marked him out as one of the most well known and respected guides to this fascinating part of New York. As someone who has traveled from the UK to New York on a number of occasions and seen much of the city, I was genuinely surprised and delighted by this experience. It gave a new and exciting perspective on the city and through stories and food brought to life this particular area. Very highly recommended. We only wish we had taken this tour at the start of our holiday so that we could have spent more time at some of the great places visited. We'll just make sure it's first on our list next time.

Great Fun - Great Food!

This tour was a lot of fun. Very informative about the culture, history and characters in Greenwich Village. The food was great - my favorites were the samplings from the olive oil specialty store, and the milk and cookies shop. I would recommend you consider not having two different stops for pizza. We also used the free coupons for a sample at the Gelato-Sorbet shop sample - it was fantastic.! Perhaps a stop there would be nice. We also had dinner later that night at Palma's which was featured on the tour. Excellent, cozy meal with impeccable service. A great meal all around! I would definately recommend this tour to anyone who truly enjoys high quality, good food; and loves learning about the food, and the people who make it. It was a great way to spend an afternoon. I'd definately do it again! It was fantastic!

Too expensive for little tasting

Overall, we had expected more food tasting for the long tour. If you put together the value of the tastings and the 2.5 hours of a guided tour it was informative but not worth the money and the food was a bit on the cheap side- different pizzas, bread with oil etc.

Not as great as expected but still good

I expected more food on a foods tour, but we got a cookie, soup, bread with cheese, and sampling of gelato the store was already handing out to the public. Then we were taken on a walking tour of the Meatpacking district and didn't necessarily get an inside look or special access that we wouldn't have gotten on our own. Our tour guide was very nice and funny, but the elements of the tour itself were not so impressive.

The day was very cold and windy but we enjoyed every second of the tour thanks to the informative guide, Daryll. I strongly recommend you visit this area on a tour so you can really understand what you are seeing......lots of interesting history!

Great way to dine out

I went as an idividual and was completely comfortable. Our host was knowledgable and very excited about what was being served and the stories behind the preparations and signifcance. The group was a nice mix, only 7 of us which was unusually small. Some had been on previous FoudTourNY outings and were raving about those as well. A great way to expand your palate. I found myself sampling dishes I wouldn't ordinarily try and finding them enjoyable.

A fascinating tour with plenty of historical and cultural context. The guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and the food was delicious. I'll recommend it to my friends.

Would have been great minus the rain.

I was very excited about our tour, but when the forecast called for flash flood warnings, I felt like the tour should have been cancelled and a refund offered. If it had not been raining, the food tour have been the highlight of my trip. The food tastings along with the location history given by our guide were excellent, but not fully enjoyable due to the torrential downpour. I feel like a refund should be available for extreme weather conditions. I will recommend the food tour to others and I hope to go on another one of your offered tours next time I come to NYC, but I was severely disappointed that I felt "forced" to run around in the rain, when my preference would have been an nice, warm, cozy, dry indoor activity.

I got to learn some minor yet interesting facts about the village and Barry was a great guide. I was hoping for a little more food samples but that's ok. And despite the rain being horrible, I got to share an umbrella w/ my date so that was a perk.

This was our first visit to New York and after much research on the internet I found this food tour. "Ed" was our guide and did a marvelous job! The food was great and the history of the neighborhood was interesting. We would definitely recommend this as something to do while in New York.

Wonderful Tour

Perfect tour for a stormy New York afternoon. Sam made the tour both entertaining and informative. He was quick enough to make it possible for us to see all vendors without feeling rushed. His knowledge of the building's history as well as the products being offered by the current tenants was impressive. All the vendors made us want to come back when we had more time to shop at a leisurely pace. I would recommend the tour and Sam to others without any reservation. In addition, my wife and I are investigating the Greenwich Village tour for a subsequent visit to NY with friends.

I am german but live in NJ and had a couple of friends from Germany with me. We all enjoyed the tour a lot and had a great time. It was very informative and interesting. The food tastings were great, a little bit of everything. It was so great to see these top rated restaurants from the inside, these were places you normally would only read in magazines about. All thumbs up, great tour, great tour guide, already recommended it to so many people.

Ed was fantastic!!!
Sat, Mar 8, 08   11:30 AM lemanjarrez Female 20-29 Local Family Without Children
Our tour was held on one of the rainiest days this season, but Ed had such a wonderful, upbeat attitude that the storm was hardly an issue. The food was great and the stories behind the restaurants and neighborhood were quite memorable. Ed was very informed and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. I would highly recommend this tour not simply for out-of-town tourists but for locals as well. I certainly learned much about my neighborhood, which might have otherwise taken me years to discover.

I really enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide, Ed, was very nice and courteous. It poured down rain but he was up beat and made it fun and interesting. The food was excellent and very filling! Would definitely recommend this tour! Thanks again, Ed!
