In addition to the food being great, our guide Raheim was great. Very knowledgable, interesting, and very cool. The trip was a gift to my parents and they had an awesome time. Plan on going on another one in another part of the city... |

This tour was the highlight of my last trip to NYC...I specifically enjoyed stepping out of my normal zone, visiting an area that I never experienced during the countless trips prior. Our guide was amazing: knowledeable, entertaining and engaging from the start. This tour is a perfect place to start if one is looking to branch out from the Times Square crowds. It opened my eyes to a new range of options and gave me a true feel of New York. The food itself, simply put, was awesome. The tour served as an appetizer sampler, giving small hints of the treaures that could be discovered in the Village. Risotto, rice balls, cheese, pizza...my mouth waters as I recall the trip. Only two words can describe this tour...GO NOW!! |

Our very knowledgeable, friendly, and pleasant guide escorted us to several high quality establishments in Chinatown, all the while explaining the history and culture of the area. The restaurants that we visited provided outstanding quality food, dim-sum, Peking Duck, and other ethnic menu items. It appeared that our guide had personally eaten at these restaurants and that they were selected for our visit because of the quality of the food and attentiveness of the staff. We had ample food to eat and drink, including dessert, and it was doubtful that anyone on the walking tour went away hungry or unsatisfied. We loved it and highly recommend this tour to anyone who wishes to learn more about Chinese culture in NYC and Chinese food in particular. As an aside, the recommended parking facility (Champion Parking) which was just a block or two from the meeting place, had an early bird special on Saturday before 10:30am and we parked all day until 5pm for $17.00 which included tax. A great day all around! |

The Greenwich Village Tour was fantastic on three levels. The food was great with samples of traditional American fare along with more sophisticated cuisine. The range of restaurants and providors visited also gave a wonderful insight into the food culture of this iconic New York district. Faicco's, Murray's Cheese Shop, Joe's Pizza and Milk and Cookies Bakery some of the best.
The only disappointment was O & Co Meditteranean Food Merchant. Whilst their produce was fine their choice to only sell imported oils and condiments was an example of food snobbery that didn't exist in any of the other establishments. Outside of this there was a real and welcome return to traditional fare using quality ingredients (the Mac and Cheese served at Home restaurant a perfect example).
The cultural and historical aspect of the tour was also excellent. We were able to get a real insight into this iconic neighborhood getting a feel for not only it's history but also it's residents past and present. Such a tour gives you an opportunity to go much deeper than the usual tourist fare, it enables you to develop an understanding of how people live on a daily basis in New York. This is an opportunity that doesn't come visiting the "usual tourism suspects".
Finally the absolute highlight of the tour was our tour guide, Zaffra. Her culinary knowledge was excellent as was her knowledge of the history, people and culture that make up Greenwich Village. Above all that though was her wonderful sense of humor. Zaffra kept our whole tour group entertained throughout the entire three hours (in fact the three hours passed so quickly it was hard to believe that was the length of the tour). I know there are a lot of tour guides but if you get a chance ask if Zaffra is guiding a tour, you will be far from disappointed.
In conclusion I would highly recommend that you not only take this tour but that you take it early in your trip to New York. If you take it early it will give you an opportunity to go back and eat at some of the restaurants you visit during the tour. Whatever you do though just be sure to take the tour. |

My wife and I organised this tour before we arrived in NYC, as something to do on my birthday. It was a great choice. Our guide Diana was knowledgeable and alot of fun. The Chelsea Market is a treasure trove of great food and history and also a fantastic use of space. All of the places we visited for tasting/sampling had wonderful products and it was a great way to spend the day. We even found a bottle of NZ wine (we're Kiwi's) at The Wine Vault to celebrate my birthday. Brilliant.
We would definitely recommend the tour and the Chelsea/Meatpacking District in general. We liked it so much, we went back a couple of days later to the restaurant where the tour finished (and no, I'm not telling which one...but if you like meat then you'll like this place), then walked along the Highline (another great thing in NYC) on the way back to our hotel.
Don't think, just book it! |

What especially made this foodie tour was the excellent tour guide, Curt. He was funny, witty, informative, thoughtful, and fun. Hope to have him as a guide again -- maybe for the Greenwich Village foodie tour. |

My husband and I were in New York a couple days prior to our cruise to Bermuda and took this tour on Saturday morning. Our tour guide was extremely informed and very personable. He showed a genuine interest in each of the 15 or so guests and called us by our first names. We learned an extreme amount about the Village. It was educational and we all shared many laughs along the way. Food - an enormous part of this tour - we ate until we could not eat anymore - you will not need lunch after this tour. The food was incredible, especially the wam chocolate chip cookie at Milk and Cookies, not to mention pizza, rice balls and much more. |

Very enjoyable! Not a must do, if you have some extra time in N.Y.you will see a side of the city not often visited by most tourists but well worth a visit. Food sampling made it even more fun |

We all have been to NYC many times and never have seen the city like we did on this tour! Cindy was a great guide, with an terrific personality. All of us in the group would give this tour 2 thumbs up! We will go back to Greenwich Village with a new appreciation and know that there is so much more to see.
Thanks to Cindy for a great time!
