great food, great guide, great time

1. Tour guide Cindy was wonderful. In addition to her warm and funny style, you realized that she was a vital part of the neighborhood as people on the street acknowledged and greeted her. 2. The time flew by quickly. It really could have been longer. 3. I'm glad we didn't take take out to "shop" because it's a waste of our time and her expertise. 4. Group size of 16 made it personalized -- any bigger would be hard to manage and feel impersonal. 5. More tastes of more things -- even if a little bitty mouthful.

An Intimate Peek into the Past and Present Village
Fri, Apr 3  11:00 AM vrodgers Female 50-59 International Tourist(s) Family Without Children
LOVED every detail with the food integrated with the history. Our guide was excellent, and the highlights for me had little to do with the food - though the food was exceptional and interesting, everywhere. Loved the little dips into the old nightclub and historic restaurant. Was mezmerized my the stories of the past and who had come before in each place. The international olive oil company would be a good mention as one passes by, but no need to stop there as it is clearly not a local shop. Another local spot would be more interesting - even if the walk was a bit further away. Everything was very very close. Though the farro risotto was spectacular, and a real treat, the stop at this very modern restaurant could be accompanied with some kind of historical connection. Thank you for an important highlight of our first visit to NYC!

The tour guide was wonderful - great food and a lot of information about the Village itself. I would take this tour again anytime!

Highly recommended food and fun

Our guide Barri was smart and engaging. Three hours went by easily because it was broken up with tastings, interesting buildings and intriguing history. I would not recommend any of the tour be eliminated because it was all either yummy or fascinating. LOVED it!

Opens Local Eyes to Unnoticed

Allthough this tour came about as more to be with my upstate touring family, having been born & raised in NYC and not a stranger to the meat-packing district, it was refreshing to be a tourist in my own town. Proverbial blinders were removed and I was able to learn about things that affect my day to day living in positive ways. I can only wonder how informative it would have been had I known nothing! Thanks very much, my boyfriend and I reside in the West VIllage and want to take a tour of our neighborhood now too : )

A fun way to learn Greenwich Village

This walking tour of the West Village was fun and interesting. The food samples were generous and tasty. You will not get to sit down at each tasting; be prepared for three hours of walking or standing. Overall, it was a postive experience.

A Must Do!

If you live someplace else, but love NY, you must do this tour! Perfect balance of tastings, trivia and history. Cindy was the guide for my tour and she was entertaining and hospitable; made me feel right at home in the Village. I wish every destination I traveled to, offered a tour like this. I plan to do the other tours over time, during my visits to NY. Bring your appetite, it's a movable feast!

Susan was our guide for the day and she was very knowledgable about the area and the food. My husband and I are from NY and found this walking tour quite a surprise. We found many new restaurants that we can't wait to try. I would highly recommend the tour, it was worth every penny.

A tasty and informative way to see the Village

I have already used my new found knowledge by providing a restaurant recommendation to friends who will be visiting NYC this weekend. I think the tour could be improved upon by offering more tastes (could be as small as a spoonful) of food from the restaurants. In my opinion there were too many sweet tastes (cookies, nuts, canoli). Also it would be very nice to have paired a glass of NY state wine with the cheese from Murray's. The stop at Aphrodesia should be eliminated - it is too much of a stretch to include this shop in a food and cultural tour. Also it was puzzling that at least half of the restaurants we were given on our list of 36 were not mentioned or pointed out to us. I do plan to take the tour of the Village and Soho and the Chelsea Market tour on future visits to NYC. Thanks.

Great tour

This was our second tour w/Kurt. It's a tie on which was better, Chelsea or Greenwich. We went back to Chelsea Market 2 days later and came upon another group. I listened in and I know I would have been disappointed if I didn't get Kurt for our tour guide the 2nd time. The other guide wasn't bad, it's just that we've been spoiled w/ Kurt's enthusiasm, knowledge, wit, etc.etc.

Money well spent. Great tour guide (would like to have Kurt again), well organized but not scripted. Can't wait to get back to NYC to eat at those restaurants and to do the Chelsea tour.

Best Tour in New York

Kurt was our guide and he should be the food critic for the New York Times! Not only did he know everyone on the tour personally - he expalined the stores purpose, products and even provided his own idea for recipes. We experienced and tasted all kinds of food and the atmosphere of the local restaurants and stores. We learned the history of the area as well as we got to meet some local celeb.'s. Kurt learned everyone's name and remembered us. He made us all feel very welcome as well as he encouaged everyone on the tour to interact. So don't be afraid to take this tour solo, by the end you will feel you did the tour with a group of friends.

Great Mix of Culture and Food
Fri, Oct 28, 05   10:30 AM vonciel Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Village with Zora. The mix of historic, cultural and menu information was just what we were looking for. We visited a recommended restaurant a couple of days after the tour and were very happy with our experience there. We would recommend this tour to any of our foodie friends!
