GREAT BIRTHDAY PRESENT FOR A FOODIE!
|

| I took my fiance on this particular tour as a birthday present because he is a major foodie, and I have to say that it was one of (if not the best) present he has ever received. We both loved the food and our host was excellent keeping the evening interesting, light hearted and fun. The food was excellent!! I incedentally blurted out after my second tasting "I am so Happy!" and in all honesty I am not a foodie or a fan of Japaneese food, however this tour showed me what I had been missing in really good Japanese food (the difference between real wasabi and the "fake stuff", which I will never eat again, what really good sake tastes like) and taught me so much about "real Japanese food. I did purchase the additional beer and sake, and have to say although you will enjoy the tasting if you do not add this, your tasting is taken to another level with the additional drinks. My reccomendation would be if you can, get the drinks, but if not still take the tour you will enjoy as well. I am looking forwrad to taking a few of the other tours... once it get a little warmer, another reason I opted for this tour as it is the only sit down in one venue tour offered, but many of the other guests who have done the "walking tours" also raved about those. Overall, it was money well spent and I would highly recommend to anyone. | ||||||

| We eat sushi from time to time; but we always order the same things (Philly roll, California roll...). Our hope was to broaden our horizens and learn more about the different kinds of fish that are commonly eaten by the Japanese as sushi. We were disappointed by this tasting for two reasons: the quality of the food was mediocre - because the restaurant, by our guide's own admission, was average quality, and because the food had been sitting out for some time before we ate it; and we were looking for more variety in the foods served. I must mention that asparagus wrapped in bacon and fried chicken were two particular disappointments because they were common foods we eat as Americans, even if the chicken had a ponzu sauce on it. While our guide talked about all the years of training and complex recipes involved in preparing sushi; I failed to see this applied to the rest of the presentations because they were simply a piece of plain, unseasoned, sauceless, fish on top of rice. I was surprised that there were no fish eggs with any of the sushi. This is something I see often in sushi restaurants and always wondered about. I have seen many colors and sizes of fish eggs. It wasn't mentioned at all by our guide and I forgot to ask. I did enjoy the host, as he gave fun facts about etiquette. He had a great personality and seemed to have alot of experience with eating sushi. | ||||||

| We were first timers to New York and found it both informative culturally / historically and a great way to try before you buy when it comes to the cafes and restaurants in the village. Next time we come, we are going to stay in this area rather than in Times Square as it is packed with the restaurants and cafes we love. Susan, our guide, was excellent. She is a lifetime New Yorker and had a wealth of information about the history and culture of the area and the food that relates to it. We would definitely recommend this as a must do experience for food lovers. | ||||||

| This was an excellent way to learn about an area which may otherwise have missed and the tips we got on resturants saw us well for the remainder of our stay. We did not have one bad meal after ths tour. The food samples we had looked quite small at first but we had 8 in total by the end of the tour and we were extremley full and did not need anything else until a late dinner. Would definatly do another one were we to visit NYC again. | ||||||

| We enjoyed this tour. The guide was friendly and explained a lot of the history of the area and the restaurants we ate at. He also took us to some historic bars/nightclubs where many litereary, music and comedy legends have performed. We didn't get to sit down at every place, but the food was great. My favorite stop was the Cuban restaurant! | ||||||

Fantastic Food Tasting & Cultural Tour!

| What a fantastic tour. We met our tour guide Barri outside Murray's Cheese Shop on Bleeker Street, and we were wondering how the tour would go, as it was extremely cold, and snowing intermittently, and the tour was to last for three hours. We need not have worried, because from the moment we started the tour of Greenwich Village, the cold and the snow did not seem to matter, Barri was extremely knowledgeable and interesting, we learned so much about the history of the shops, restaurants & the area, and the food tastings were fabulous, and three hours seemed to pass in 3 minutes. The only problem was that we wanted to go back and eat in every establishment that Barri took us to, so that means we will have to visit New York again, and this time stay closer to the village. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting New York, it was truly wonderful, and worth every penny. Thank you Barri. | ||||||

| this was my second visit to new york and as a great lover of food and drink and struggling to find decent quality reasonable venues for meals and ingredients the tour was brilliant. Various food items and areas from cookies and baking to fine deli style produce and italian, definately no requirement to eat again until dinner as i was stuffed!! Gave me a great insight into the area and pointed out some fantastic venues that i will certainly visit next time i'm in new york. Thanks again | ||||||

| I booked the Greenwich Village Food & Cultural tour for myself and my boyfriend; it was a surprise Christmas gift for him (he's impossible to shop for). A few of our friends and family joined as well, and while I felt slightly nervous before it started that it wouldn't live up to people's expectations, we ALL had an amazing time. Even though it was very cold (definitely dress in comfy shoes and layers) our tour guide (or guidess!) Sefra took us to about 8 wonderful places giving us rich history "lessons" and a ton of humor to boot. This was a definite highlight of our trip, and I would highly recommend it to anyone! Thank you Sefra. | ||||||

| Yes, there are alot of tours to choose from while one is visiting NYC but I have not found one that is more enjoyable than the Food Tasting Tours. Not only are you entertained by a well-informed tour guide, you are sampling some of the best food in the city in the most popular neighborhoods. What's not to like about that????? I have taken the Village tour and the Chelsea Market tour and can't wait to get back to the city to try the Chinatown tour. | ||||||

| This tour is a great combination of history, tid-bits of information, gossip and the spirit of the places we had visited, coupled with great food tasting. The 3 hours went by quickly given the interesting facts, food items and locations. The instructor was very knowledgable and very enthusiastic about the place. In short, its a no miss tour. | ||||||
