Very Good Tour Central Village/SoHo Food and Culture Tour

The guide was friendly and informative. The food was absolutely delicious and we are from New Orleans where they have a lot good food. I would recommend this food tour to others. We also went on the West Village food tour two years ago. It was equally as good.

One of the best things we did on the trip. Our guide, Heather, was wonderful. We learned so much about Greenwich Village (past and present) in three hours. Will definitely be back to dine at some of the places we had tastings at or learned about. All the establishments featured were excellent and I felt that only the best of the best were included. Made us very confident and armed with enough knowledge to visit area on our own on our next trip.

Our tour guide was terrific. He gave us such an informative guide about the neighborhood, the restaurants, the food they served and what to expect when and if we decided to choose to eat at that establishment.. The portions that we received at each restaurant was more than enough to make a refined review of the food we tasted. The entire tour was outstanding. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

My husband and I love NYC and love all the food options, but always feel a bit overwhelmed by the variety and number of choices. To help us discover "authentic" restaurants and learn more about the city, we decided to take the Central Village/SoHo tour. Rahim was our amazing tour guide! He was interesting, helpful, extremely enthusiastic, very knowledgeable, and appropriately friendly. We enjoyed 8 food tastings that covered a nice range of ethnic foods--Indian "street" food, incredibly fresh smoked mozzarella, homemade pasta, sausage, a chicken and beef Cuban empanada, delicious cheese cake (which I normally dislike), and a pear and chocolate tart. We also learned a lot about neighborhood history, including "celeb" bohemian, folk artists who gave the neighborhood its character as well as comedy and music clubs that are popular today. My husband and I are already trying to agree on which food tour to do next. I cannot recommend this tour enough!!

We have participated in the West Village food tour and loved it, so we decided to do this tour. The food was outstanding, and the serving sizes were generous. We loved the cheesecake and returned the next evening there for dessert. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had many good stories and interesting facts to share in addition to the food. This is a must for anyone who wants a local's perspective on the area and the food.

Our guide, Marie, was so enthusiastic and thoughtful of our group and the people of the area. Always making sure we were taken care of and always making sure the people of the neighborhood were not inconvenienced by our presence. We enjoyed hearing all her stories and she was very well versed about all the different places we saw. It is refreshing to be around someone so happy and joyful in their job. Made for a lovely day!

My wife and I came over from England for a long weekend in New York and we went on this tour the morning after we arrived. We had a really great time on this tour and the food was delicious. Our guide was interesting, knowledgeable and entertaining and we learnt so much. Went to places (some real gems) that we would never have found on our own. There was not a huge amount of walking, although we were on our feet for the best part of 3 hours. We would absolutely recommend this trip - it was a highlight amongst 4 action packed days.

My daughters and I really enjoyed the Greenwich Village tour. The food was excellent, especially the arancini. Barri, our guide was very knowledgeable about both the food and the area. The people at Foods of New York were very accomodating as well when we need to purchase another ticket several days before the tour date! Next time we are in town we plan on taking another one of the food tours.

We were served a great mix (cookie, soup, tapas, chocolate, bisquit, icecream, pasta) of great foodand an interesting history lesson from an enthusiastic guide. First tasting was a large cookie, would have saved it for last if we had the chance. We were happily surprised to get a walk on the highline, a place we had asked around for but nobody seemed to know where it was.

For first-time travelers to New York, we knew we would make our rounds through Times Square, the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, the like... but we wanted to make sure that we visited one of New York's many historic towns - and by visit, I don't mean "sit on top of a double-decker and drive through." I mean pounding feet-to-pavement and immersing ourselves in it. We wanted to visit places that only locals and enthusiasts know about; we wanted to taste food that wasn't following the trend of the month, but rather has been made the same way for generations; we wanted to touch the very stage where musical icons of our generation (and those prior) got their start. And we did all that and more on this tour! A-mazing!!! Our guide's knowledge of the area was spectacular! She, herself, is a product of Central Village - it doesn't get more real than that! And the food selection - oh, the food selection - was outstanding! I won't ruin it for any potential participants in the tour who may be reading this, so I won't speak specifically to the dishes that we tried. I will only say that you WILL NOT be disappointed! There were many "best ever" eating moments on this tour, ex. "that was the best [insert dish here] that I've ever had in my life." We visited New York from Hawaii, a place that's very rich in cultural diversity and culinary influence as well. And we really appreciate the experience that this tour offered. When we look back on our first ever trip to New York, this will be one of it's highlights!

Whilst the food that we tasted on this tour was very good, I particularly enjoyed learning about the history and culture of the area as we walked its streets. We did the tour early in our time in New York and I feel that this understanding enriched our stay. Our guide was knowledgeable and approachable and the pace seemed to suit the group very well. There was a good variety of cuisine styles offered as we walked and although quantities were small to moderate at each venue, no-one in our group of friends needed dinner that night!

Our tour guide was informative and pleasant. We had moe food on this tour than on the other 2 we had previously taken. We all liked the diversity of the food and background info. We will certainly go again.
