This was unique and fun and a wondeful way to learn more about Greenwich Village. The tour guide was very knowledgable and had great stories to share about the history of the area. The restaurants we visited were excellent and a great mix of food was tasted. |

This is the second time I've been on the tour. It is a great way to show your out-of-town guests the charm of New York. The food was excellent. We also enjoyed the history lessons that were mixed into the tour! We were never bored. |

We had a wonderful time with this tour, and will definitely recommend it to others. My husband grew up in Manhattan, but felt he learned many things about the village. The foods were all excellent, except the last stop; the falafel, in our opinion could be changed for something else. Otherwise every stop and every tasting was great.
Tour group is the perfect size, and we managed to find awnings for much of the stops to stay as dry as possible. |

I live in the West Village and I wanted to learn more about the neighborhood. Specifically, I wanted to learn more about places to grab good food and hopefully learn a few things about the neighborhood and that is exactly what I got. Our knowledgable and energetic tour guide led us on a tour of the West Village and introduced me to a number of mom and pop restaurants and food shops that boast some of NY Citys best foods and charming settings. In addition, I learned a lot of interestting histrory about the west village and discovered the beauty of the west village. The tour which had 7 people was intimate and is worth going on on. Not sure if a full 16 person tour would be too much, but what you make up for in exposure ot the tour guide could of been made up with more people on the tour. I am recommending it to all my friends and would recommend it to anyone. |

This was a great idea for locals or tourists visiting New York. I went on the Greenwich tour and if you are a history buff and/or like eating this is an activity for you. Especially since it is unique and allows you to kill to birds with one stone. You get to explore New York with an informative tour guide who lets you know about the sights you are seeing and you are getting to taste many different restaurants you may not normally try. I recommend visitors to try this in the beginning of their trip because you may want to return. You will learn and discover alot, I know I did and I was born and raised here in New York City. |

The tour was very interesting and informative. The food tasting was a great variety that proves how nyc is so rich with culture from different worlds. I've lived in NY for most of my life yet would probably not have tried, ventured into or even notice many of the places that we stopped at on the tour. I highly recommend this tour and look forward to taking one of the other tours that are being offered. |

We had an enjoyable afternoon and a charming guide (Cindy). We especially loved both pizzas we sampled. The cookie from Milk & Cookies and cheese from Murray's were also very good. We felt some of the samplings were extremely small - the apricot tart from Pasticceria Bruno was delicious but it was only one bite and a sample from another store consisted of 2 small chocolate-covered nuts! The only sample that our party of 4 did not like AT ALL was the middle eastern food! Instead of the middle eastern food, we definitely would have preferred another pastry shop for a cannoli or maybe ice cream or gelato. We also would have liked to have learned a little more about the history of the area. For $40, the bottled water should at least have been chilled and larger samples would really make it more worthwhile. Thank you for the list of 36 establishments in the Village - it will come in handy and we're looking forward to trying them. |

I felt like we were "in the way" most of the places we went. We were taken into a pretty little "French/Italian" restaurant and not given anything to eat. We were taken into a "spice shop" and were handed two candies outside the door from a place we couldn't visit? That was strange. The first pizza we ate was cold and overcooked, but the second was actually delicious. Two pizzas though, with all the other choices? We met at a place that was closed, but given a fourth of a tart from a place next door to Roccos and told that the best item sold there was the gelato after we walked off. It was OK, but where are the cannolis that were shown in the advertisement? It would have made more sense on a hot summer day to have a little cooler treat, but that wasn't an option. The guide, who admitted she was not from the village, when we were walking through a residention area on the tour started badmouthing developers who were "going to destroy the village until it was rescued from their evil and greed by the creation of the historical district." I did speak up, as I am married to a developer and I was COMPLETELY OFFENDED by what she said. Developers only develop an area because people are wanting the product. She should have also been badmouthing those who wanted to modernize the area for their personal comfort; after all this is a capitalistic society. Developers only have a job because consumers are requesting a product. The neighborhood was modernized by the different immigrants who lived there over the years, why not blast them, too! I also thought her knowledge of historical data was sketchy at best, and she should learn never to ask a question unless she knows the complete answer. For example, why the keyholes are low on the doors. Finally, to end this diatribe, at the end of the tour by some (Greek?)meat stand without so much as a goodbye, the guide just said the tour was over and left! We wandered around a little bit by ourselves and had a much more relaxing time without her. It was nothing like the Sex and the City tour that was so WELL presented. It would be very difficult for me to call this tour a "Good Deal" or "Money Well Spent" for two skinny pieces of pizza (one overooked), a little meat in a pita, two olives, a dry slice of bread and 3 small tastes of cheese that I could have gotten on my own just by asking. Almost all the food stops were right in the same block as well. No mention of the Magnolia Bake Shop which has been on numerous food channel shows either. I wouldn't say the tour wasn't fun, but I know most anyone could have had a similar experience striking out on their own, since getting to and from the Village was on your own already. Thank you for allowing me to express my honest opinion. |

Thought the day was very good. Tour leader Cindy was great! I like the mix of historic, architectural, and culinary.
A few suggestions --
One pizza would have been enough
How about a stop for a liquid -- lemonade, smoothie, beer?
Some sort of fresh fruit or veggie would have been welcomed
Overall a fine tour. I thought the price was reasonable. |

Initially we were bored and frankly thought we were being taken for a ride. Why? Two 1/3 of a slice of pizza and a 1/4 apricot tart was most of the first hour. So we gave some thought to walking away. Then things picked up very nicely.
The stroll through Bedford and Barrow Streets was great. Our tour guide's (Cindy I believe) knowledge of the areas history and architecture is obviously expert and delivered with enthusiasm, energy and wit. The visit to Chumley's was a wonderful surprise. I pride myself in knowing (firsthand) many of New York's great old saloons. I had never heard of Chumley's but you can bet the ranch I'll be at the bar real soon. Thanks for the tip.
The second half of our tour had more energy and more information so we thoroughly enjoyed Murray's Cheese Shop, Faicco's Sausage shop, Milk and Cookies (best damn chocolate chip cookie we ever had), and Turkish Kabab shop. Good stuff all.
After the tour we re-traced our steps and made purchases at a coffee bean shop pointed out by our guide, Murray's, Faicco's, and Amy's Bakery. Unfortunately we needed to get home to walk the dog. I really wanted a beer at Chumley's. Oh well. So many bars and so little time.
You guys keep up the good work. We'll be back for another tour soon. Ciao!

The Greenwich Food and Culture tour was well worth the trip into the City and I wish I had done it sooner. The food was good and filling. The background and explanation of the different eateries and shops was interesting. Learning the history of the architecture and buildings was enriching. To me, the best part was the visit to the speakeasy. It was interesting to see a building the "way it was" back in the days of the prohibition. |
