An "Insider's" Guide

| My wife and I enjoyed the 3 hour tour very much. You may even call it an intimate tour in that it emphasized small family owned places that you would never find on your own. That together with the history of the area made it very worthwile. The "tastings" involved more food than expected and we were able to skip both lunch and dinner. I would recommend it to others. | ||||||

| Great tour... The tour guide was great... Loved the more intimate look at the less travelled streets of the Village... The choice of eateries was varied and well thought... all the food was delicious... Thinking about doing the other tours... | ||||||

| Delightful, informed, enthusiastic New Yorker (Sicilian heritage) guide did an excellent job. Tour was entertaining, tasty, and educational. I recommended it to other tourists I met in New York. Our party of four thoroughly enjoyed it despite the chilly, misty day. | ||||||

| Our tour guide, Michael was an enthusiastic ambassador for the Greenwich Village community. He made a point of sharing his local point of view with us on the tour. He pointed out interesting pieces of history that none of us would have known about otherwise. Who knew we were going to get a historical and cultural experience on a 'food tour'! That was a great surprise for us! We thoroughly enjoyed the food experiences but the rest of the information that we learned was such a bonus! We are planning to return to the city in December and are definitely going to sign up for another tour! | ||||||

| Our guide was fun and very nice and the food tour was a great way to discover Chelsea Market, especially since you can always go back to your favorite stores after the tour. Our group was nice and I even met another European person (I live in Philadelphia but am French and she was on vacation in NY from Germany)! The booklet/documentation was also very helpful for we tasted and saw so many things that we wouldn't have been able to remember it all if we hadn't been given this booklet. I was thrilled and very happy with the tour; I took many pictures and will definitely recommend it to all the people I know. PS: I was too "shy" to give the German woman my e-mail address but, if possible, could you please forward/e-mail it to her?? We had a good time together during the tour. I am Stephanie (tsarane@hotmail.com). Thank you! | ||||||

more culture than food

| We were lucky with the weather and so spent a wonderful sunny day exploring popular and lesser-known streets in the village/soho. the tour focused on the area's history related to architecture, music and immigrants. Although we sampled quite a few different kinds of food (all tasty and interesting), I felt somewhat unsatisfied because each sampling was no more than a bite or two, and we were usually standing on the street trying to keep out of other pedestrians' way while we ate and listened. Bottom line: a good way to get to know the history and culture of this part of new york, but don't choose it solely for the food! | ||||||

| The only thing I would change - I would start with "walking" and then do the sit down parts as part of a "break" - overall though - I loved it. I thought it was GREAT and the leader had so much knowledge and such a presence - A+++++++++++++++ | ||||||

| The best part about this tour was getting to know the history of Greenwich Village. Oh, and the food was more than what we hoped for. We got a feeling of the people that make up the neighborhood and the chefs that keep the neighborhood fed. We started our week with this tour and it set the tone of our trip. THANK YOU for such a FINE beginning. This should be a must do for anyone visiting New York. | ||||||

| We hadn't been to Greenwich Village since sneaking down there on a trip during high school. We decided to take the food tour and see it again. We had a great time. Michael, our guide, involved everyone in the group. He had a unique and off beat affection for his neighborhood. He gave us the inside scoop on architecture, history and food of the area. It was cold, but he kept us moving and laughing along the way! It was great fun! I would recommend this tour to anyone who wanted to see more than 42nd and Broadway! | ||||||
