Yet Another Outstanding Tour!!

| This is my fifth tour with FONY and each one has surpassed the previous one. Our guide, Michael, was a walking encyclopedia of the Village, his facts delivered in the style of a great stand-up comic. We can't recommend these tours enough, both for New Yorkers and for the rest of the world! | ||||||

| As great as both of the other tours, this one touches on so many different types of food. Lots of historical info as well. Barri was a super guide, professional and knowledgeable. We have so many places to re-visit. I hope Foods of NY adds lots more tours. It's a big city! | ||||||

| This is the second time I've taken this tour and the third with the company. Each one has been better than the last. Everything is so well thought out and presented. The guides are extremely articulate as well as fun! Food was terrific. If it wasn't such a cold, windy day, we'd have gone back to the market to shop. Following the Greenwich Village tour, we've visited many of the restaurants numerous times. We can't wait to come back and gain a few pounds in the eateries on this tour as well. If you do no other tours in the city, take this one. A guaranteed winner! | ||||||

| We enjoyed the food tour of Greenwich Village greatly, although its not just about food. This was our first trip to New York and we had an enjoyable and informative time which would not have been possible without our guide's insider knowledge. Our guide, Jenny was entertaining and knowledgable and her enthusiasm for the area was infectious. As a result of tips from the tour we were able to get much more out of the rest of our day in the area and had a great meal at Surya followed by jazz music at the Cornelia Street Cafe. Very much recommended. | ||||||

| This was our second tour; we did the Central Village tour last Thanksgiving it was with Cindy and it was fantastic). Our guide (Rahim..sp??) was wonderfully enthusiastic and humorous, BUT, he kept callings the group "guys" WAY too many times, as in "OK, guys, let's go here" or "Hey, guys, this is a really great place....". Also, we had two run-ins with neighbors. They were silly/stupid/inappropriate locals, BUT, it appeared to us that Rahim was too confrontational with them. It felt awkward. Also, some of his neighborhood facts/comments were not correct. I'm by no means an NYC expert, but he'd say things that I knew simply were not true from a common sense standpoint. For instance, he told us that St. Anthony's Church (1860's) was the oldest parish in NYC. That's not true...it's the oldest parish in NYC specifically serving the Italian community.....the plaque says so. Lastly, it just felt that much of his recommendations were advertising for places along the route rather than discussions on food diversity and availability. It's hard to describe what made it seem that way, but it just did! Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed it and will do another one of your food tours on our next visit. | ||||||

| This walk was wonderful, a highlight of our week in NYC. The tour guide, Cindy, was absolutely great. She knew everything, everybody, and was totally entertaining. We cannot recommend more highly our experieince and will recommend it to others as well as take another food tour next time we visit. | ||||||

| While i did enjoy the day, the cost was expensive for what you got. The guide was nice (Heather) and kept the tour going at a reasonable pace. Was informative, and we tipped accordingly. The food stops were not great value and it would have been nice to sample some coffee. You should drop the visit to the spice herb shop as it is old, dirty and full of garbage (and wandering cats for people allergic to cats !) Considering the number of eateries oin the area, a few more food stops and food tastings would be preferred. Overall an interesting tour, but not great value for money. | ||||||

| My boyfriend and I went initially just to explore the different foods, but we came out ahead because along with the food came history that we may have never known if it weren't for this experience. In addition, our tour guide Cindy was amazing. Our tour lasted for three hours but we didn't realize it because she was a great entertainer. My boyfriend who is usually skeptical about everything, states " I would do it again". | ||||||

| My husband and I have been to NYC several times. We picked up a brochure in our hotel lobby on our last trip. We arranged for this food tour on this trip and were pleased with our choice. We learned so much more than we had hoped. We plan on arranging another food tour on our next trip. We passed the info on to friends who are coming to NYC. Thanks for the learning experience!! | ||||||

| This was a very interesting way to see the older part of the Village, even tho we had been in this neighborhood many times before. Our guide was fun and funny and very well-informed--not only about food but also the history of the architecture and the interesting people populating the area. It also must be said that your website is very easy to use and all acknowledgements and charges appeared quickly and promptly. We don't know exactly how you market this tour but we heard of it thru a retired travel agent at a party in our hometown. In all of our past trips to NYC we had never known that such a tour existed. We will get the word out! | ||||||

| This tour, of about 3 hours duration, was much fun. It's more about the history and culture of Greenwich Village than the food although the stops at a variety of restaurants, shops and haunts was more than welcome. Our tour guide, Michael, was very well informed and presented his remarks with humor and flair. The group of about a dozen was friendly and easy to be with. My wife had taken the tour previously with a girlfriend and I'm glad she took me along for the second trip. Highly recommended. | ||||||

| My wife and I took the Greenwich Village tour in mid Feb. and fortunately the weather cooperated nicely and the group was small (4 of us plus the guide). Our guide, Susan, was very knowledgeable about the area and seemed to know the various merchants quite well. The food stops were excellent and quite diverse (Italian Pizza and baked goods, Asian food, seafood, cheeses and meats) and the history lesson of the area was very interesting. The tour did not require much walking and was a full and interesting 3 hours. Next, we will do the Chelsea/Meatpacking district tour. | ||||||

| my wife and i chose to do our own sight seeing whilst in new york in the theory that we could see and do more independently than on the usual city tours and possibly getting gridlocked in the traffic.however we booked this activity to gain some knowledge of the area and were not disappointed.the guide had such a vast knowledge of the area and a vast array of history and stories to tell i think helped by the fact he had lived in the area for many years.the locals all seemed to know him and you could see he was well respected in the community.he had interesting tales about all aspects of life in the village anecdotes about all the different buildings restaurants shops and foods we stopped to try. in our group we were the only non americans but everyone in the group were included and mixed well. i would strongly recommend this activity to anyone of any age looking to get a true feel of an area by someone who is obviously passionate about his community | ||||||
