Fun tour and BEST guide, highly recommend!!
Thu, Apr 7, 11   11:00 AM Alanwu Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Our tour guide, Curt, was knowledgeable, funny, witty, high energy and enthusiastic. Within 5 minutes of "shaking hands" with everyone in the tour group, he memorized everyone's name and home town and for the next 3 hours, made everyone felt that he was giving them "personal VIP treatment". What a pleasant & unexpected treat! I would definitely recommend this tour, especially if Curt is the guide!! Thank you, Curt!

We loved Bert and Greenwich Village
Thu, Apr 7, 11   11:00 AM CEGZerve Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Bert (as in Bert and Ernie) was an enthusiastic guide with a great sense of humor. Anyone taking this tour will have at least 15 great restaurants / eateries / take-outs to try in Greenwich Village. In addition to learning about some history of the area, we got a great feel for the neighborhood as it is today. This tour was very generous with the food - I didn't count but I felt as if we ate at about a dozen places. I highly recommend this tour and look forward to trying other tours with this company when I return to NYC.

Highlight of my stay in New Yorkl!

This tour was excellent. The guide was organised, witty and well informed. The pace of the tour was just right. The 3 hour duration made it a pleasant and unhurried experience and the guide made a concious effort to include everyone in the commentary. All of the food sampled was delicious. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in good food and the history of the area. I went on the tour on my own but was made to feel part of the overall group very quickly. I would also say the tour was excellent value given the number of stops we made and the variety of food we sampled. It was easily the highlight of my 5 day stay in New York

More Talkin' Than Tastin'
Tue, Apr 5, 11   11:30 AM DMJgastro Male 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
There was very little regarding food preparation and certainly no cooking tips or discussion by the proprietors of any restaurant. We did have interaction with the sales clerks at a cheese shop and an olive oil shop. This "tour" was mostly standing on the sidewalk in front of restaurants (in a cold, blowing rain) listening to the history of the establishment or of the neighborhood. The tastings were modest and strung over three hours--no way I would consider this lunch. Most of the establishments allowed us inside due to the inclement weather, but only after our guide left us on the sidewalk and asked permission. It appears that there was very little prearranged with any of the restaurants. The cheese shop and olive oil shop knew we were coming, were welcoming, and obviously hoping for a sale. One or two of the restaurants had prepared a small sit-down tasting which was clearly prearranged. For most, this was not the case. Our guide was knowledgable and entertaining (an unemployed actress doing the tour guide gig). My advice--go to Bleeker Street in the village and take your own tour. If you look like you might buy something, the folks in these shops are delighted to talk to you, sans the big group and the tour guide. Find your own nice restaurant and sit down and have an ACTUAL LUNCH, maybe even a glass of wine (and pay for it with the money you would have used for the tour and tip). And if the weather is bad, you won't be forced to stand on the sidewalk in front of the establishment--you can actually GO IN.

Very Pleasant Experience

We were looking for things to do/see in Greenwich village, and my teenage daughter found this tour on the internet. It exceeded our expectations. The program was interesting and engaging, and the guide, Bert, was exceptional: not only he was very knowledgeable and passionate about the culture, food, history and architecture, but his warm and caring personality made everybody in the group feel comfortable.

The tour guide, Bert, was spectacular. He made the tour interesting and comfortable. The food was out of this world. Bert provided a historical perspective that was interesting and thought provoking.

Bert was a wonderful tour guide with lots of information about the area and history of Greenwich Village. He never ran out of things to say and was able to answer almost every question. He never rushed us so we took our time but kept us on track. The tastings were wonderful! This was my second tour and it was nice that it was a bit different from the first. I would highly recommend this Food Tour! Thanks Bert!

Food Tours does it once again

Great guides with lots of interesting historical and cultural information. The foods offered are very tasty and representative of high quality Chinese foods unlike what most of us are accustomed to. Being in this part of Manhattan feels like being in Asia. You'll visit extremely interesting produce,tea,herbal-type shops with lots of' samples along the way. This experience will become a highlight of your Manhattan visit.

Excellent! Highly Recommend!

My niece recommended this tour, as she and her boyfriend had done it previously, and she said it was the most favorite thing she had ever done in her many times visiting the city. My mom and I went, and couldn't agree more! Our tour guide, CarrieAnne, was great! Very knowledgeable, and kept everything moving at a perfect pace. The food was outstanding! Each place as good as the one before. My only regret is that we didn't do it at the beginning of our visit to NYC (we did the tour on our last day in the city), so that we could have gone back to the Village to eat at some of the places we stopped. Everything was super...and SOOO much food! Don't eat before you go, it's VERY filling! Delicious, fun, interesting, and a great value. Thank you!

Great Tour Again!

This is the second tour I have done with this company and it is truly the best tour in New York. The tastings were at all the great places in Greenwich Village. The food was truly wonderful and you you get so much to eat you do not even need dinner that night. Marie was our guide and they use only the best guides with this company. You not only get to taste the food, you also get a great tour of the neighborhood with all the history also. Last year I went with a different company on a food tour and will not make that mistake again. I did the Chelsea Food Market with this company and highly recommend that tour also. I can't wait to take the other tours next time! The price is extremely reasonable. Great bang for your buck!

We had an absolutely wonderful three hours with our guide Marie. She was so knowledgable about the neighbourhood and the wonderful restaurants. We were stuffed full of food goodies by the end of the tour with a heap of discount vouchers for when we return to the shops in the future. Highly recommend!

I've lived around the area for 8+ years and this was great. If you're looking for something to do outside on a weekend, this is it. I'm a foodie and I loved it. Educational, fun and great treats!! We were stuffed at the end of the trip. Cindy our tour guide was awesome!! She was extremely informative and funny.

Love This Tour

This tour was awesome! It is a great way to learn about the area and enjoy the flavors of NYC. We had a group of 8 women from age 26 to 73 and we all enjoyed ourselves. I particular enjoyed that while we were walking our tour guide share history and stories of the area. We found a great restaurant that we can't wait to visit at our next trip to NYC. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy a unique tour of the city and eat some amazing food!!!

All of us enjoyed the tour!!!

Myself and 6 friends took the tour this past Sunday. None of us had anything negative to say about. Our guide, Heather, was excellent, the food was delicious and learning about the area was very interesting. I've been to NYC several times but this was the first time going to Greenwich Village. I will definitely visit there again. The weather was also beautiful which made it that much more enjoyable.
