Best Way to "Sample" New York's Tastey Treats

I went on this tour by myself because I am a big fan of the Food Network and I planned to go to the Chelsea Market, but I was not sure what to see there. I LOVED being able to sample the cuisine from the different market places. When you are by yourself, you want to try EVERYTHING, but you only have so much room in your stomach and money in your wallet. Who wants to spend $5 on a cupcake and throw it out because you also tried lobster bisque, fruit jams, italian meats and cheeses, breads .... This tour was excellent, fun, informative, and interesting. Our host was knowledgeable, friendly, and personable. He was from the city, made everyone feel comfortable, and had a lot of great stories. I highly recommend this tour whether you are with a group or by yourself. Even being by myself, the other people on the tour and the guide were SO nice, that I felt like I was with a group. I never felt lonely. It was an excellent way to see the market and sample New York cuisine. |

Bert (apparently one of their newer guides - but you would never have known it) gave a great tour! Wide ranging discussion of the history of the village, plus shout-outs to different movies and TV shows (the apartment exterior from Friends! a favorite block of SATC film crews!) made it extra-entertaining. This was despite the fact that it was freezing cold and rainy on the day of the tour. And the food was awesome, and in even more locations that they describe on their website. Even my local friends would enjoy it! |

I expected the food to be good, and it was, but the portions were so generous! We were stuffed at the end of the tour and knew a great deal about the area AND it's wonderful foods. |

I did this food tour for the second time and can highly recommend it: It's fun, informative, great value for money (you certainly don't need any more lunch after it) and above all: Delicious! |

Good fun, very informative and delicious tastings at a great variety of food outlets. Lots of interesting facts and discount vouchers as a bonus! This was my 2nd tour and I'll definately be trying another area the next time I'm in NY. |

We enjoyed ourselves tremendously on the tour. The food was great, the history imparted by our tour guide was invaluable and our guide himself was hilarious. He talked the entire 4 hours and had us all in stitches and personalized the tour by repeating all of our names throughout the tour and speaking directly to us. I cant wait to return to NYC and do a different tour. |

Our tour guide was animated and fun, and kept my 3 teenaged girls highly entertained. Not an easy feat!! We enjoyed getting to know Chelsea Market and the surrounding area and will definitely return there in the future for both shopping and dining. This was our third tour with your company and we can highly recommend them all!! Thanks so much for a great time. Mary Hagood |

I really enjoyed it and our guide was really knowledgeable about both surroundings and food.
I did however expect that we should visit more popular restaurants and that all restaurants would include tasting, but the tour was mostly inside Chelsea market and tasting only on a few of the restaurants. |

Bert was a fantastic tour guide with a lot of enthusiasm and was teaming with knowledge about NYC. I would highly highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to eat a variety of small bites and who is enthusiastic about fresh food from small, local establishments. |

I had so much fun on this tour. Even though it was a cold and slightly rainy day, our tour guide Bert kept us dry and happy. The food at each stop was excellent, a great sampling of different tastes and facets of the village. Bert explained each location in detail, and I went back to three places after the tour to pick up goodies. I really enjoyed how our guide explained all of the little shops and restaurants in the area, not just the ones in which we tasted. I left with a thorough understanding of the history and culture of the neighbourhood, and with a list of restaurants I can't wait to come back to. From interactions with passersby and store owners/employees, it's clear that this tour company is known and well respected in the community. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and personable, it felt like we were getting a private tour from a close friend. I will definitely sign up for another tour next time I'm in New York! |

This is our second food tour with Foods of New York. (We've also done the Greenwich Village tour about 4 yrs. ago.) It was fantastic! Our tour guide, Kurt, was wonderful--personable, funny, knowledgeable--the perfect "host." There were about 16 people in our group, and within minutes, he had memorized all our names, introduced us to each other, and continued to address us all by name throughout the tour. As a former teacher, I was quite impressed. The food was all delicious and plentiful. The ad doesn't lie--you will not need to eat lunch afterward. For anyone concerned about the weather, the Chelsea Market part of the tour, about 2 hours, is indoors. For us, that was perfect because it was raining, but by the time we got outside to walk the Meatpacking District, the rain had stopped. I enthusiastically recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed |

Enjoyed the tour, the information provided was great. Our tour was heavier on gossip and lighter on in-depth detail of neighborhood, building, restaurant business, etc. Still, very enjoyable overall. |
