This is my 3rd tour with Foods of NY. All have been excellent and I recommend them to all of my friends and colleagues traveling to NYC. I can't wait for my next NYC visit and will plan to do the Chinatown tour. You won't be disappointed.

Fun introduction to a fascinating area of NYC

Our guide used humor and an amazing knowledge of history, cuisine and culture to introduce us to the Chelsea Market. (Thank you, Kurt.) Who from out of town even knew this place exists? We got up close and personal to a variety of ethnic food shops and sampled their tasty wares. Real New York City people opened up to us. A deli meat guy shared with us what training and expertise he had acquired to get there. We learned about the evolution of this section of NYC from meat packing district to trendy destination. But they have not forgotten their roots. Evidence of the original structures and industry is blended tastefully with the current businesses everywhere. Deference is still shown in the market to mom and pop places that cater to each customer. We tasted rich, hearty soups, creamy chocolates, tender meats, melt-in-your-mouth biscuits, pasta and sauce, etc. The architecture and ambiance of the Iron Chef's Morimoto and Mario Batali's Del Posto are stunning. Seeing the warm kitchen in the row house B&B was a treat. We talked and walked about the district and bonded with our tour group and guide--and requested a group photo. This tour is a delightful way to become acquainted with local food, people, stores, eateries and history. Now I want to go back and savor it again and again.

Barri (our tour guide) was very entertaining and very knowledgeable of the area, the restaurants and the local activities. There were 4 of us and none had ever experienced a "Food Tour". We were absolutely delighted with the various foods and restaurants; the historical informationn provided was interesting and Barri had a great sence of humor and was very entertaining as well as knew her history of the area. Would highly recommend this tour and Barri as a tour guide.

Our group of four women had a great time on this tour. Although local, we learned so much about the Village that we did not know. The food was delicious, the guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and the tour gave a wide variety of experiences. We can 't wait to find the time to come back and try the other tours on the list!

amazing food, great history, gorgeous neighborhood

I absolutely loved this food tour and would highly recommend it for a few reasons: 1. the food is amazing and gives you a chance to experience the staples of NYC in one full swoop; meeting the owners/chefs of the restaurants was also a very special opportunity normal visitors don't get. 2. Greenwich village is a beautiful, historic neighborhood that I would have never discovered as a visitor to NYC. The info was fun and entertaining but not too in-depth, just the right amount of info. 3. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and I was amazed at the little local shops we were introduced to. I don't think I would have found them on my own, and the fact that locals take this tour reminds me that they were truly special and unique. Cons: The tour was a bit long for me, 2 hours would suffice if some things could be compressed. I also got pretty full since the tastings are spread out, so perhaps 6/7 vs. 9 tastings could make this shorter. Overall, what a truly great New York experience!

As a new local I've been on quite a few tours and this was one of the best, if not best so far. 9 tastings over a small distance but covering so much variety. Tasting choices were great, going to return to all of them at some point and unlike other food tours you get discount vouchers, take home menus and conversations with the owners and hosts. Worth the money - so full at end.
