Let me start by saying that I love everything about NYC and have come back often--for the last 52 years. I try to take at least one walking tour each time I visit... I feel it is the best way to really get to know & feel the particular area. This Chelsea/Meatpacking Tour was wonderful. Our tour guide was great--he was enthusiastic, knowledgable, helpful, and fun. I have already suggested this tour to my New York friends.

More a history tour than a food tour

Zerve bills this as a food tour of Greenwich Village, but it should be advertised more appropriately as a walking history tour with a few rest stops along the way. As an avid foodie and accomplished cook, I and my group were looking forward to not only sampling the different foods in the village, but to also meeting with shop owners and seeing how some of the beautiful pastries, breads and other ethnic delicacies are made. We were expecting the tour to be centered around the food of the village, not its architectural history. Because the food took a distant second billing, we were greatly disappointed. The tour itself could have easily been condensed into an hour and a half at the most. There was an incredible amount of stopping and talking and not enough sampling. The first hour we had one half slice of pizza, a mini cannoli and a rice ball. The entire second hour was spent walking, talking and going in and out of restaurants with absolutely no sampling. The third hour we had olives and cheese, two chocolate covered almonds, a little felafel and another little pastry. All this for $40.00!! Needless to say we were starving when the tour finally ended. The best part of the day was our lunch at John's Pizza! If your interested in the foods of the village, get a guide book with walking tours of the village and explore on your own.

Very informative - great food.

We (3 of us) thought it was great. Loved the tour guide (Susan). Lots more food than we thought - all delicious. Except that last pastry. The first canolis were SOOO good, we expected exceptional again. But all the food was great, the tour was at a nice leisurely pace, Susan "IS" New York and no one better could've been our guide. Always love hearing interesting facts like where the terms "86" and "up river" came from. Just enough people were in our group. It was a fun way to spend a few hours and see part of the city I never knew before. We actually wound up staying in that particular area another 6 hours after the tour just walking around and eating more....I mean we should've since we then knew all the best places!

We really enjoyed our tour. The combination of learning about the architecture, history, culture and food of the area is so unique and fun! I do have a suggestion however, and that is to have smaller tour groups. Having a limit of say 8 people would allow for everyone to hear better, for better "kodak moments", and we wouldn't be crowding the sidewalks and shops as heavily. We had 13 people in our tour group and it was difficult sometimes to hear everything that was said and I was reluctant to take pictures of certain spots because of so many people ending up in my pictures and distractihg from the real beauty of a building or strorefront.

My wife and I were very impressed by the tour. It included a great mix of food tasting, architectural and historical information, and local Village lore. Our guide, Curt, was gracious, helpful, and informative. Based on our experience with this tour, we plan on taking advantage of the other tours you offer in the future.

Greenwich Tour is Fabulous!

We so enjoyed this walking tour. We have visited NYC many times but this was our first walking tour. It gave us an inside look that we would never have had the opportunity to see on our own. Kurt was our tour guide and he was excellent. He had fun stories to tell and little known places to show us that only the locals know. The food was good and you don't leave hungry! We especially appreciated that the group is limited to 16 people. We plan on visiting the area on our own the next time we are in NYC and trying the many restaurants recommended.

the three hours went by very quickly. It was a part of New York I had not seen before and I loved the history, the Italian deli, bakeries and chees shop and the wonderful tiny restaurants i would not have known about. I liked hearing in things about New York--where the term 86'd came from, why the cabbies don't say the "avenue of Americas, seeing the speakeasy and the narrowest row home with it's own wealth of well known previous owners. I have to go back to the Village. Very comfortable and not strenuous

We found this tour to be so education and so entertaining at the same time. The food was all delicious and so varied. We especially loved learning about some of the architecture and history of the Village as well. The tour guide, Cindy, was absolutely wonderful!!! She was a perfect combination of historian, food critic, guide and "Jewish Mother"(her words)! She was so knowledgeable, friendly, open and helpful. Her love of New York was obvious. What a fun way to learn a little more about this wonderful city! We are planning to do another tour with this company on our next visit and we have already recommended this tour to many of our friends who travel!

We found all the information about the bulidings and history of the city really interesting. The food tastings were good too. Good idea to do this at the start of your trip so you can go back and eat at some of the restaurants.

Our golf group loved this tour. The three hours flew and seemed like 30 minutes. Cindy, our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We came away wanting to visit NYC again and spend more time in Greenwich Village. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting NYC.

1. Tour guide Cindy was wonderful. In addition to her warm and funny style, you realized that she was a vital part of the neighborhood as people on the street acknowledged and greeted her. 2. The time flew by quickly. It really could have been longer. 3. I'm glad we didn't take take out to "shop" because it's a waste of our time and her expertise. 4. Group size of 16 made it personalized -- any bigger would be hard to manage and feel impersonal. 5. More tastes of more things -- even if a little bitty mouthful.
