Mom & Daughter take a bite out of the Big Apple

This tour was part of my gift to my mom for her mother's day/b'day trip to NYC. A year ago I took the Greenwich Village tour with this company and enjoyed it so much I wanted to do another tour. Our guide, Wendy, was FABULOUS! She had so much energy and enthusiasm it was contagious. This was Wendy’s first solo tour and you would never know it…she seemed like she had been doing this for years. I loved the 2 hours we spent in Chelsea Market and would have been happy if the tour ended there as I wasn’t overly impressed with the Meat Packing District part of the tour. It is great that the stores and restaurants have transformed the meat packing plants into their current businesses while still maintaining part of the “charm” of the district in its heyday, but overall that part of the tour was not as interesting. The food on this tour was fabulous…we literally ate our way through Chelsea Market! I enjoyed hearing how some of the shops got there start and appreciated the way generations of families have been working in the family business. In The Lobster Place, we got to meet Herman the 11 pound lobster! Both the Chelsea and Village tours were interesting in their own respect and I do recommend taking a trip to both areas on your next visit to NYC.

I enjoyed the samples from the restaurants and hearing about others that I may never had known about. I would have liked more samples from the other restaurants of the list. I likes having a detailed list of the restaurants in the area. Our guide was fun, and informative! A great tour!

I enjoyed the opportunity to learn about foods that I probably would not have otherwise known to try. Our tour leader was lovely and we were overall very pleased with everything.

The tour was much more than just food tastings of Greenich Village...it was an actual historical tour that was fascinating...the food tasting was just a fabulous extra...Michael was the best tour guide I have ever had...besides having so much to teach us, he cracked us up for 3 hours...he was so funny! I cannot wait to go back to New York to try each and every restaurant on the tour...I suppose I need to plan my next trip for a month to be able to get them all in. I have already given your web site to all my friends and family who live in New York...they cannot wait to experience my wonderful time. Thank you so much for making my trip to New York so special.

Our third tour and still loving it!

We have been on the Greenwich Village tour twice and the Chelsea Market tour once and we are still learning about the great things the neighborhoods have to offer and each tour guide has his own unique tidbits to offer. We are in Northern New Jersey and bring all of our family visitors (all from out of state) to take the tour. Let us know when you add more. We'd love to be the first to try them out!!

Great way to see Greenwich Village

I feel like I know so much about Greenwich Village after taking this tour--not just the food, but the history as well. Our group came back the next evening and ate a delicious dinner at Palma. Our guide, Michael, was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. This tour was the highlight of our 4 days in NYC.

Fern & the girls visit NYC annually and we all agreed that this is one of the highlights of our trip this year. Kirt was great! Very informative and a wonderful sense of humor. We learned a lot about the area while eating our way through the market - food was delicious - chocolate sour dough bread from Amy's was our favorite. We highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning about the area. Chelsea is lucky that Mr. Cohen took on such an ambitious project.

It was a wonderful New York experience. My husband and I were there for his 50th class reunion from New York Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. We learned about the tour from some friends of ours who were visiting us from Sweden and I found it on the internet and ordered our tickets before we left home, which is Kansas. We would highly recommend it to anyone -- our tour guide was very good -- the food we tasted was outstanding and we have a new appreciation for Greenwich Village -- we would do it again!

Just Wonderful

Wonderful and insightful. It provided as much history as it did food info. A great mix that could have lasted longer. There was no way we could get bored. The guide was very informed about the topic.

Even great for Locals

As a new resident of New York, this gave me a unique opportunity to explore the place where I would be living. The variety of food was great (especially the Cannollis!) and the history was even better. The information was extremely useful and I have gone back to many of the restaurants already! Thanks for a fabulous time!

VERY glad we did this tour - and you will be too!

Our guide, Michael, was wonderful, very welcoming and made you feel like a freind being shown around, rather than someone on a tour. He was knowledgebale, genuinely interested in the area, and you knew he had a life time of experience around there. It was wonderful that passers-by stopped to say hello, that people called out to him from across the street, this was a guy who KNEW the area, and the area knew him. He gave us his personal thoughts, as well as those of his colleagues, on all the places around Greenwich Village, which encouraged us to go back the following nights for a bite and a drink, and we were comfortable with our choices, knowing these places were preferred by locals. We also received a history lesson which was wonderful, at times it truly felt like being taken back into another time, you could imagine life there 50, 80, 100 + years ago. The food we were given as a taster was magnificent, and I got to try some new delicacies. Next time I'm in New York, I hope to stay in greenwich, and be able to experience more of the delights in the area - I'll be keeping the handout for reference! We came to know about this tour from family/friends, and I will definitely be recommending it to others - in fact I already did! ps. can you tell Michael that the jazzclub mentioned by the 2 Australian girls is called The Zipper Theatre 336 West 37
