Great Day

One of the most informative guides and tours that we have been on. I would not miss learning about the history of this area of NYC and this was the best way to do it. We would like to bring our 3 grandchildren on a tour designed for children around 10 years and hope that you have one as good as this one was.

Great history lesson - with lunch!

This was an awesome experience! We had superb weather which certainly helped. It definitely wouldn't be as much fun in rain or wind! Our guide was very friendly and enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. The Greenwich Village area is amazingly historic so there were plenty of very cool things to see and hear about. The food was all delicious and easily satisfied our need to eat - two pieces of pizza, several appetizers and several desserts. The pace was good with ample time to enjoy the food and setting and there was a nice break about halfway through where we could sit down to eat, use the bathroom, etc. I have been to NYC several times, but had never been to the Village. This was a great way to get acquainted with a new area of the city and discover fun places to go back to for a full meal. Highly recommended!

Very interesting, informative and tasty

Our tour guide was great, the first 1 1/2 hours were perfect. Then we went outside and toured the new railroad park. That was interesting but we spent over an hour not talking about food or tasting anything. I would have preferred to spend the last half of our tour in the meat packing district and taste food in some of those restaurants.

My group thoroughly enjoyed this tour. I would take this tour again. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We saw and learned things the average tourist would not have experienced unless they went on the tour. The food we sampled was excellent. I believe we received a great value for the money we spent.

I took the Greenwich Village tour, the day before. This one was equally good. Diana, our tour guide was a certified tour guide and a native New Yorker. Her blend of knowledge about the food we were tasting and the Chelsea Area was great. Generous portions on this tour. The lobster bisque was out of this world. If you want to get the best of both worlds, yummy food tastings and information about the area you are in, take the tour, it's great.

You'll feel like a local

I recently did the Greenwich/SoHo tour led by Susan. She was terrific! A native New Yorker, she is passionate about her city and its many fabulous foodie finds. She did a great job describing in fascinating detail the history and present state of the Village food scene. The restaurants and cafes on the itinerary were all superb - it was nearly overwhelming. The food was delicious and each place was thoughtfully chosen for its historical and cultural significance to the neighborhood. Susan was also great at ensuring that everyone's needs were met throughout the tour and that we were enjoying ourselves. Overall, she was a great group facilitator and tour guide. At the conclusion of the tour I felt like I had gained such an inside perspective into the Village far beyond just the food scene. It was hard to believe that I saw and learned so much in only three hours. I felt like a local by the end of it. This was an amazing way to become closely familiar with one of NYC's incredible neighborhoods. I will definitely check out a different tour on my next trip. Keep up the super work!

A Movable Feast!

This was the second tour we took with Foods of NY, the first being the original Greenwich Village tour a few years ago. We enjoyed that one so much, we decided to go back for a "second helping," this time bringing an out-of-town guest. We all had a great time. Our guide, Susan, was friendly, informative and thoroughly professional. The tour runs like a Swiss watch, so precise that you have to stop and think about how much planning and organizing must go into it, to have each and every restaurant or shop prepared to greet and serve the group as soon as we arrive. We are lifelong New Yorkers and my husband went to school at NYU, so we are no strangers to Greenwich Village, but New York is definitely a "work in progress" that can and should be visited with frequency. The food was varied, interesting, and of uniformly good quality. The Greenwich Village sights, from Washington Square Park to SoHo a real slice of New York. We even got to witness the finales of two different weddings - a little "extra" no one expected! There are a lot of walking tours out there, but only one with FOOD; no contest!

My friend and I had a great time on this tour. I was unfamiliar with the Greenwich Village area and after the tour, I was ready to pack up and move to NYC to live in Greenwich Village. ;) The sampling was vast and well paced. I thoroughly enjoyed our tour guide and wasn't expecting all the insider information we got both about the food and the part of town in general. I would certainly do it again when I come back to visit and think it is a great tour for visitors and city dwellers alike. Thanks for contributing to such a great trip!

Good Tour

I enjoyed the tour and the food. I could have done without hearing so much about our tour guide's upcoming nuptials, and HIS interests. I know having the tour guide "personalize" their tours by relating their own interests and having that as an overlay can be a positive experience -- but Rasheem proves up the old adage that you can have too much of a good thing.

great for the grownups and kindergartner alike

We were planning to have to leave the tour partway through, expecting that the five year old along with us would get bored after an hour or so, but it was the perfect combination of moving around, eating treats (which were very well liked by a pretty food-fussy litttle girl; pizza, cheese, cookies, canolli, were especially well liked), and hearing stories. The guide was stellar at supporting the grownups and the little one alike. As a new resident of New York it was a great way to get acquainted with the village. Bravo!

This is the second year in a row that I have brought my parents on one of your food tours. Last year we did the classic village tour around Bleecker St. and this year we did the Central village and Soho tour. Both were excellent and both guides were really top notch. I work at NYU so I know quite a bit about the restaurants around here, but I learned a lot of interesting new information and new restaurants that I will go back to on both tours. It's a huge hit with my parents as well and we will probably do the Chealse tour next year. Keep up the good work and keep hiring excellent guides!

We enjoyed the tour, our guide Sephra. was very entertaining. Great bang for the buck! Would have preferred less fried food (3 tastings) and more opportunity to sit down during the 3 1/2 hour tour.
