Wonderful insider's view of unique neighborhood!

Our guide Todd was extremely well-informed and not at all shy about sharing his opinions. The corporate practice of paying for the tastings v. accepting freebies from vendors goes a long way to preserving the credibility of your recommendations. You completely satisfied the middle-aged history freak, the middle-aged world traveler, the 18-year-old Spring Breaker and the 13-year-old geek in our group. Eight thumbs up! Scoring tickets to "Spamalot" was an awfully close second, but you were the best part of our trip to NYC.

Greenwich Village food tour

I found the review to be extremely interesting. It was not only limited to food, but it also gave a background of the East Village history. I found the combination of both extremely interesting. Later I went to the Wine Tasting, it was excellent. I would definitely recommend this tour to my friends. It also gives you a nice selection of places to go back to in the Village. I went back to the Murray's cheese shop and purchased some cheese. As constructive criticism, I would add one more place in the Central Village. Also the guide should point out the location of the Wine Tasting (in SOHO) for those who would like to try it out. It is definitely worth it, particularly since they are New York wines.

The food we tasted was very good and our guide was very knowledgeable about the village. She told us great little stories about the neighborhood and made her own personal recommendadtions on where and what to eat.

What a great experience! This tour offered so much more than amazing food. I loved learning about the area, architecture and hearing funny stories. I just wish there was something like this where I live. I'm so looking forward to doing this again in the future. Thanks for everything!!

Fun Day!

We enjoyed getting a tour of the Chelsea Market and Meatpacking District. I had been on the Greenwich Village tour and enjoyed that as well. This one didn't cover quite as much ground but was still fun. Curt was a hoot.

A MUST-DO when visiting NYC!

There were 6 people in our immediate group, EVERYONE in the group had a great time. Kurt was our tour guide.....not only was he knowledgable of the shops, restaurants & the area but he was enthusiatically funny. A great sense of humor! Chelsea Market was a great place, fresh vegetables, meat, seafood, bakery items, wine, flowers - what else is better in life than to have all that indoors, under one roof? The lobster bisque was to-die-for in the seafood market! The local trivia was informative & the day was beautiful. Wear comfortable shoes & layered clothing, - you'll be indoors & outdoors. What a way to get acquainted with the area, enticing you to come back again to visit any of the places you visit on the tour. Enjoy!

It was great, especially Kurt

I never would have known that the Chelsea Market/meat packing district existed and all the history and interesting facts that Kurt provided about the tour made it even more interesting. Kurt's sense of humor and the fact that he really seemed to enjoy what he was doing made the tour that much more fun. I can't wait to go back to the Market again to buy some of the delicious food we sampled and to eat/hang at the restaurants/bars in the meat packing district. We were really glad that we took the tour and I have already recommended it to some of my friends.

Wonderful thing to do on a sunny afternoon
Sun, Mar 13, 05   11:00 AM acromar98 Male 30-39 International Tourist(s) Individual
Unfortunately, the weather was cool and crisp, but that is hardly the fault of the tour! I really enjoyed the Greenwich Village tour - we had a small group of 8, and that meant the tour guide could pay us all more attention and tailor the tour to our interests. He kept us at a comfortable pace, made sure we stayed on the sunny side of the street to help those with insufficient clothing, and was very enthusiastic about the area and the shops. It is especially good if you are an Italophile, as there are many many cafes and specialty shops catering to Italian needs, the best I've seen outside of Italy itself. In short, if you are looking for a relaxed introduction to the area, and want to sample great food while doing it, this is the tour for you!

Visiting a New Frontier
Fri, Mar 11, 05   10:30 AM rjordanco Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
While having been in NYC a hundred times, I had never been to Chelsea Market and the Meat Packing District. It was a neighborhood that your mother told you to avoid, (part of the appeal no doubt). I was in town for the Big East basketball tourney and found this tour via City Search. I am fond of walking tours in NYC, London and wherever I find them. This is the first tour sponsored by Zerve I've taken. First, the sampling of different foods in a wholesale envirnoment was new and fun. Subsequently, I returned to the area the next day for lunch and for dinner at two of the places we had seen on the tour; good food, pricey, "Sex in the City" crowd. Secondly, I enjoyed the "other" discoveries at least as much as the advertised food tour, e.g., High Line Rail, meat on hooks on the sidewalk, Stella McCartney shoe store, Coyotte biker bar. Tour guide's insights re: history and tranistion of neighborhood were very interesting. Also visited an art exhibit in the neighborhood after the tour ended. The tour guide was entusiastic, well informed, and responsive to questions. Group was a good mix of age, sex, interests, etc. The limit of 10 persons per tour, mine was at max, was just right; more would have been a problem of logistics as well as chemistry. This tour costs more than others but the price was about right for the value received. Price is the main reason I did not give this 5 stars. I will take a Zerve tour again and have recommended it to others.

We took the tour on Thursday, 3/10 and had a grand time. Cindi was our guide and her energy and sense of humor made for an informative and entertaining tour. We returned on Saturday to revisit the shops and eat more pizza! I have already recomended the tour to several friends and hope to return to take the Chelsea tour. Thanks! Ellen Engels

We had a great time on the tour and learned some historical facts about Greenwich Village while sampling scrumptious food. We had Cindy as our tour guide and I must say she was quite entertaining as well as informative. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to learn more about what Greenwich Village has to offer, especially if you love to eat. Thanks again Cindy for a great time! Mario & Lori NJ

I live in New York and my Mother was visiting from London

The tour went on for longer than originally anticipated, but we were all having such a good time, nobody seemend to mind! Cindy, our guide, is a local New Yorker and it was wonderful to have an insider's viewpoint on the area. She was also very amusing, obviously enjoying herself and added tidbits of infomration many tour guides wouldn't bother with. I am seriously considering booking her for private tours when other people come out to visit me. It was one of the best $40 I've spent in the city.
